Bosch Extends Its Range Of Encoders With VideoJet 8008 8-channel MPEG Encoder

VideoJet 8008 is Bosch's high-end, multi-stream Video-over-IP CCTV network-based video surveillance encoder.  It delivers the highest quality real-time video available today and its hardware engine produces 25 images per second of pure MPEG-4 video in DVD-like quality.  This 19-inch rack-mount single unit incorporates multiple encoders delivering eight full-motion video channels, with each channel generating non-multiplexed video at 30 images per second (IPS).The high-quality output video signals allow video to be viewed on any standard PC using Bosch's VIDOS video management software or a web browser.  Alternatively if used in conjunction with a high-performance MPEG-4 decoder a point-to-point hybrid analog/digital solution can be created.  This technology uses the highest quality analog cameras and analog CCTV monitors, but with a pure IP solution in-between.The VideoJet 8008 has Dual Streaming technology, which encodes the video input signal in two different ways but simultaneously.  So, for example, in 2CIF resolution with 6 IPS for recording, and in 4CIF with 25 IPS for live viewing at a workstation with software decoder or a hardware monitor. The encoder features three key recording modes: continuous ring or linear recording; a continuous alarm-sensitive mode and a pre-/post-alarm option which preserves a short segment of video just before and after the alarm (up to 128 events per camera can be recorded). The internal hard disk records weeks at a time locally, or for more extended recording periods it can use the VIDOS-NVR network video recorder, which has RAID5 disk arrays attached for maximum fault tolerance and a storage capacity of over 45 TB.Commenting on the VideoJet 8008, Jeremy Hockham, Managing Director of Bosch Security Systems said: "Not only is it powerful enough to simultaneously allow MPEG-4 live viewing, recording and playback or backup, but combined with a complete set of security and distributed system management it is also the market's most powerful, highest quality MPEG-4 encoder and recorder."

Understanding The Security Needs Of Small Shops
Understanding The Security Needs Of Small Shops

Complete solutions for small businesses using Advantage Line products from BoschFollowing on from our last article on security for small shops, we look at how Advantage Line products from Bosch fulfill all the surveillance needs of small offices. Choose between familiar analog solutions or increasingly popular network IP solutioncs. A secure small office. For small offices, it's important for staff to feel safe and to keep a watch out for people pretending to be genuine visitors. Security starts in the parking area of the office. This can be guarded by one or two infrared dome cameras or IP 200 Series infrared bullet cameras, ideal for helping spot any suspicious activity. Here, cameras with Day/Night capability ensure the best quality, round-the-clock surveillance. An additional infrared dome camera can be fitted outside the entrance door to observe visitors, with a monitor at the reception desk to identify guests.Inside the office at the reception area, a discreet dome color camera keeps an unobtrusive eye on the comings and goings of visitors. Alternatively, a fixed-body camera can be used as more of a deterrent, making it more obvious that surveillance is installed on the premises. To heighten the deterrent factor further, a 19" confrontational monitor adds an obvious statement.Enhancing overall securitySmall offices often have an area between entrance and reception that is open to the public, where people can sit or stand while waiting for an appointment. Here, one or more ceiling-mounted overview cameras greatly enhance overall security. Again dome or fixed-body color cameras can be used depending on personal choice.A video recorder, such as the Bosch 600 Series makes the perfect system manager for an analog system. It displays playback and recorded video from up to 16 cameras at a single location, and can even stream live video over the internet to a device such as a smartphone. If the system uses IP cameras, video recording can be made to central storage on a network attached storage (NAS) device. Recordings can also be safeguarded by taking advantage of the IP cameras' internal SD-card capability, capturing video directly on the camera. Cameras can also be linked to a PC using Bosch Video Client, which is supplied free for systems with up to 16 cameras.Optimal security on a limited budgetAdvantage Line is ideal for businesses looking for optimal security on a limited budget. Delivering professional performance at an affordable price, the products offer the trusted Bosch quality and reliability. And they also deliver outstanding image quality. They are designed to satisfy the demands of both installers and customers of smaller security installations, combining ease-of-installation and ease-of-use with just the right amount of features.

Exhibiting at IFSEC, stand E10, May 11-14th Real-time recording and playback in genuine 4CIF resolution Advanced H.264 hardware compression - Image quality improvement on recording of scenes with fast moving objects Improved operation through low-bandwidth networks Integration with the Bosch Video Management System and third party management software using VideoSDK Local storage on four front-accessible hard drives Control Centre software for centralized remote viewing, play-back, and configuration The Bosch Divar XF digital video recorders offer top-of-the-line performance and adaptability. Equipped with four front-replaceable HD drives and extensive integration features, the XF is ideal for medium to large-scale or growing systems. Divar XF's superior image quality and compression gets the most out of CCTV images. With Firmware 1.2, the company is taking another important step to improve image quality even further. With the improvement, images taken from scenes with fast moving objects are even clearer than before. "The use of H.264, the new standard in video compression, gives us the perfect tool to put even more focus on image quality, with the additional benefit that H.264 requires less bandwidth and subsequently less storage," says Bosch's Vincent Bos, Product Manager of Digital Recording products. As well as the considerable image quality improvements, the new Divar XF firmware offers improved operation through low bandwidth networks, runs more smoothly on low performance PCs and has optimized support for Windows Vista. The Divar XF is intended primarily for medium- to large-scale or growing surveillance systems in, for example, shopping centres, banks and financial institutions, city centres, casinos and hotel complexes.
