SaferCash offers couriers intelligence on any offences where Organized Crime Groups (OCGs) are active across force and regional boundaries Kings Security has been selected to manage and host the intelligence database for SaferCash, the intelligence sharing initiative aimed at reducing the number of attacks on cash-in-transit couriers, banking establishments and ATMs. This prestigious contract, effective as of February 2017, will see Kings take responsibility for the management of a highly sensitive and complex database on behalf of SaferCash, a unique nationwide security initiative which records and shares information on the activity of Organized Crime Groups in order to facilitate the effective sharing of intelligence between couriers themselves, the wider cash-in-transit industry and police forces nationwide. Couriers Intelligence Established in 2005 and operated by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) – the trade body representing the UK’s private security industry – SaferCash offers couriers intelligence on any offences where Organized Crime Groups (OCGs) are active across force and regional boundaries. Pulling together all of this intelligence, SaferCash can help to facilitate early police intervention and ultimately result in a reduction in crime and losses. As the sole security initiative of its type, SaferCash currently consists of 17 cash-in-transit companies, five major banks and building societies and the two largest ATM providers in the UK. Rob King, Head of Strategic Engagement, Kings Security said: “Winning the SaferCash business is significant for Kings and brings great kudos. A well-respected and effective security mechanism for cash and valuables-in transit vans as well as to major financial institutions within the UK, Kings will use its considerable industry expertise, gleaned in part from the development of the Kings Intelligence System [KIS], to host SaferCash intelligence and incident management.” Remote Crime Reporting “The multi-faceted web based portal has a broad range of functionality which allows users to collate, analyze and disseminate intelligence fast time along with risk management and remote crime reporting.” Steve Hurst, Head of SaferCash, added: “Kings Security have demonstrated that they are a key player in the collation and utilization of intelligence to drive down crime. It has a real synergy with SaferCash. This collaboration will enable SaferCash to build on an already excellent service with enhanced service delivery both to members and the Police Service which ultimately will prevent and reduce criminality.”
KIS technology has been utilised by both clients and the police to assist with crime prevention strategies Kings Security has been awarded Secured by Design accreditation for its award winning KIS product which provides sophisticated commercial security solutions. To date the product has been utilised by both clients and the police to assist with crime prevention strategies. Rob King, Head of Strategic Engagement said, “KIS is a true innovation for the security industry, it enables crime to be reported almost instantly and helps provide the data to analyze potential crime hots spots. We’re delighted to have received Secured by Design accreditation which emphasises the robust functionality of KIS.” Guy Ferguson, Director of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives said, “KIS as a product supports the principles of the Secured by Design initiative by ‘designing out crime’ through its functionality. Kings Security is able to report a crime at the click of a button, submitting video evidence of an incident Kings Security has teamed up with incident reporting software, Facewatch, to relieve pressure on police resources for tackling low level crime, by becoming the first professional security firm to use the tool to report incidents remotely. Alleviating Pressure On Police Personnel By integrating Facewatch into the services which they already provide to third party clients, Kings Security is able to report a crime at the click of a button, submitting video evidence of an incident, complete with a witness statement from the acting security officer, online, removing the need for police call outs. With police budget cuts dictating a shift in priorities, Kings Security believes that this new partnership will allow them to alleviate the pressure on local police forces, while greatly reducing the time between reporting an incident and submitting a meaningful body of evidence to help drive convictions. Commenting on the benefits of Kings using Facewatch, Detective Chief Inspector Mick Neville of the Metropolitan Police said: "The more CCTV images of suspects committing crime my unit receives, the more offenders my Super Recogniser Unit can identify - making London and businesses safer. I am therefore very pleased that Kings Security are the first monitoring station to work with Facewatch to increase the supply footage to the Metropolitan Police." Efficient Reporting Of Crime Kings Security’s Head of Strategic Engagement, Rob King said: “Kings Security is leading the way with 3rd party crime reporting on behalf of clients from their CCTV monitoring intelligence hub. “By teaming up with Facewatch, we not only save our clients' resources, by preventing staff from being taken away from their customer service point to report a crime or download CCTV, but greatly reduce the amount of time required by police to report a crime. “We are currently piloting the scheme with both the Metropolitan and West Midland Police forces and initial results are very encouraging. “This is part of a wider project to integrate the Kings Intelligence System [KIS] into Facewatch, which will enable Kings to proactively protect our client’s staff and assets by ensuring crimes are reported and effectively investigated.”
Rob’s appointment comes on the back of a substantial investment in the latest version of its industry leading KIS platform Former detective, Rob King has joined Bradford based Kings Security, the largest privately owned provider of security systems in the UK, to lead the rapidly growing Kings Intelligence Service (KIS) team. Rob’s appointment comes on the back of a substantial investment in the latest version of its industry leading KIS platform, which aims to offer Kings Security clients a fuller intelligence cycle, by bringing multiple data sources together onto one platform. Background Rob takes up his role after moving from the Post Office, where he was Head of Security Operations for three years. He has over 30 years’ experience in intelligence, after serving 20 years at the Metropolitan Police Force as a detective and within the anti-corruption department. Rob also worked for the Jockey Club, leading anti-corruption within horse racing, before joining the William Hill estate. KIS has been developed to help identify crime hot-spots and profile criminal activity by allowing users to analyze crime data such as; what time of day and week burglaries or shop thefts are happening and which security measures are most effective. Kings Security is now taking the next step to ‘closing the gap’ by collating dossiers of evidence to handover to local police forces. Rob's Role Rob’s remit at Kings Security is to oversee the strategic delivery of KIS and to build on police engagement. Rob explains: “As an industry, Kings has recognized that we need to step up. Due to budget cuts and restraints, low-level crime is something the police are less able to give time and attention to so we either let it happen, or we take the lead.” “We want to work alongside and support the police and already have some high profile successes under our belt. Our aim is to use KIS to help close the gap between collecting our evidence and deliver a dossier of information to the police to help them make the arrest and bring the criminal to justice.” Anthony King, Kings Security CEO, commented on the appointment, he said: “Rob is a brilliant addition to the team. “The industry has to get smarter and learn to help ourselves, sharing data with competitors to help bring results. Our KIS platform can help play an instrumental part in developing and leading the way for the industry, so that we all operate in a much more informed and effective way.”
