Powered by the industry’s most accurate IDIS Deep Learning Engine and compatible with IDIS Deep Learning Analytics (IDLA), the AI Box for COVID-19 is a simple add-on appliance that’s compatible with existing IDIS network cameras and DirectIP® NVRs, eliminating the need for complex analytics software or edge VA devices. The IDIS AI Box for COVID-19 includes functions for social distancing adherence, people counting and occupancy control, crowd detection, mask detection and dashboard and reporting tools that are critically important for compliance. Safe working practices Users also benefit from a perspective view, giving superior analysis compared to top view analytics cameras These practical deep learning-based features support safe working practices which help prevent the spread of coronavirus and other infections. Users can take advantage of four advanced video analytics functions simultaneously across 32-channels and each camera stream, making the cost-effective IDIS AI Box adaptable for all sizes of business. Users also benefit from a perspective view, giving superior analysis compared to top view analytics cameras and ensuring that each camera provides exceptional surveillance for security, safety, and data intelligence. Advanced video analytics IDIS AI Box advanced video analytics enables some of the most important counter-infection measures: People Counting & Occupancy Monitoring - counts the number of people coming in and out of premises (stores, banks, pharmacies, and busy commercial sites, for example) showing the status of occupancy in real-time. Using cameras positioned at entrances and exits, the IDIS AI Box generates precise AI-assisted alerts to overcrowding, with real-time calculations to underpin occupancy control interventions. For retail customers, dashboards positioned at store entrances use a simple 3-step traffic light system to automate the admissions and flow in and out. In addition, the dashboards show estimated wait times at peak periods and allow retailers to customize the displays with company logos and promotional graphics. Social Distancing – detects distances between individuals and sends an alarm when a defined distance is violated. Users can configure event notifications to issue verbal reminders and select from five spacing sensitivity levels depending on local state, industry, or sector-specific requirements. Crowd Detection - alerts building and store managers to overcrowding in pre-selected zones and triggers event alarms every time bottlenecking or overcrowding occurs. Face Mask Detection - detects people wearing a mask or people not wearing a mask, giving users the ability to configure and trigger event alarms and issue verbal reminders accordingly. Reporting – comprehensive reporting tools are provided for all four of these video analytic functions. They provide data analysis, including people counts and occupancy, along with any violations, by time, day, and month, for accurate and required recordkeeping. This data can also be exported to Excel spreadsheets for easy referencing. Credible and practical solutions “The COVID-19 pandemic has tested everyone’s resilience,” says James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe. “IDIS has developed credible and practical solutions to help reduce infection risks, with automation that improves operating efficiency and technology that avoids the cost of hiring in additional manpower or redeploying existing staff to higher-risk front-line roles.” “Moving forward much of this functionality will also prove particularly valuable for retail, with AI-driven video delivering insights into shoppers’ behavior, helping to convert browsing into sales and improving the customer experience and for facilities managers to optimize buildings and workspace.”
An upgrade of video technology at a south London residential estate has proved so effective that the system has been immediately scaled-up. The IDIS video solution, implemented by Hall & Kay Security Engineering at the Meridian South Development in Hither Green, is less obtrusive than the system it replaced, yet it immediately delivered better results, with a number of incidents tackled to the surprise of the culprits. IDIS video solution Although the mixed development, comprising 440 owner-occupied and rented properties, is a safe and pleasant neighborhood for most of the time, to maintain this high standard of living managers needed to tackle a growing problem with petty crime and anti-social behavior. Hall & Kay were asked to solve this problem by implementing an advanced, end-to-end video solution from IDIS Issues were being reported with increasing frequency, including rubbish being dumped by short-term tenants vacating their apartments, theft from mailboxes, vandalism, and car crime. Rubbish removal alone was costing the management company more than £12,000 annually. Hall & Kay were asked to solve this problem by implementing an advanced, end-to-end video solution from IDIS, Korea’s largest in-country manufacturer. IDIS cameras deployed The H&K team began by replacing the ten column-mounted PTZ cameras with IDIS cameras. IDIS technicians visited the site with the H&K engineers and conducted a bandwidth test on the existing cabling, demonstrating that, by using the existing coax with IDIS ethernet converters, up to four IDIS fixed bullet cameras could be cost-effectively mounted on each existing column. Additionally, wireless access points were installed where cameras couldn’t be cabled directly to the estate control room. This approach eliminated blind-spots and guaranteed that events would not be missed when the system was unmanned. IDIS Center video management software (VMS) To provide wider coverage, a further six columns were added, and additional IDIS cameras were mounted in the underground car parking areas. The system now delivers full HD images in all lighting conditions, with built-in IR ensuring night-time image capture at distances up to 30m. All footage is stored for 30 days. The security officers and maintenance staff who manage the estate are also taking advantage of the easy-to-use analytics functions that come with the totally cost-free IDIS Center video management software (VMS). These tools include motion detection which can be utilized out of hours to ensure that scenes are only recorded when movement occurs, thus minimizing bandwidth usage and storage requirements. This feature, along with IDIS MapVue navigation, also makes it easy to quickly review footage to find incidents of interest. IDIS full HD IR cameras Within 24 hours of the cameras being installed, departing tenants were recorded illegally dumping rubbish The 57 IDIS full HD IR cameras, and the three NVRs with 12TB storage each, benefit from true plug-and-play set up with DirectIP. When the South Meridian management team saw the quality of images now being captured, they asked if the system could be extended. With IDIS’s flexible approach this was quick and easy to do. Within 24 hours of the cameras being installed, departing tenants were recorded illegally dumping rubbish. Shortly after this, a contractor working at the site reported that tools had been stolen in both cases, with high definition evidence of the crime being captured and passed to the police. Easy-to-use VMS controls In fact, thanks to the design of the system, and the easy-to-use VMS controls, security staff was able to retrieve footage of the incident itself, along with a full video trail of the thief moving across the estate, before and afterwards. Word has now spread about how effective the new system is, and residents are delighted that there are now no blind spots. “The support we had from IDIS was second to none and the technology works exactly as promised,” said Wayne Wharton, Security Sales Manager, H&K Security, adding “We are now looking at many more IDIS projects with the same customer and others.” “We are delighted that IDIS technology is making such a positive difference to the quality of life of residents at Meridian South,” said James Min, Managing Director at IDIS Europe.
IDIS is working with systems integrators across Europe to identify and secure video projects in post-COVID growth sectors, including hyperscale and co-location data centers, residential construction, logistics and healthcare. Integrators affected by project delays or cancellations in their established markets are looking to diversify their customer portfolios says the company. In the latest analysis released online it highlights sectors that will offer significant prospects for new video installations and system upgrades, as customers look to expand, to drive efficiency, or to introduce COVID-safe site control measures. Data center market “After a number of project successes across the UK, mainland Europe and the Middle East we are seeing opportunities in some exciting areas,” said James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe. “For example, there is currently extraordinary growth in the co-location (co-lo) data center market. Even before the push-effects of COVID-19 this sector was already set to double by 2024 compared to 2018, and that now looks likely to be an underestimate.” Businesses concerned with becoming infection hotspots are looking to increase site monitoring He said there was similar buoyancy in the logistics sector, which continues to be boosted by the rise of e-commerce, and in healthcare where some major video projects are being accelerated, including roll outs for a large NHS Trust due to be completed over the summer. AI video capabilities Businesses concerned with becoming infection hotspots are looking to increase site monitoring, while pressures to drive efficiency are pushing other businesses to leverage the latest AI video capabilities, with new systems and upgrades. “Yet without sector experience these growth markets can be difficult to access,” he added. “So, systems integrators in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands are positioning themselves by partnering with the right vendors, including IDIS.” Seamless technical support House building and residential developments are also seeing strong activity in several areas, with recent government interventions providing a stimulus. IDIS will continue to develop its relationships with main contractors to capitalize on resilience in new build projects - one major development in South East London, making extensive use of IDIS video tech, is due for completion later this month. IDIS already has strong references in these sectors and is encouraging its integration partners to capitalize on emerging opportunities. The company is structured to collaborate closely with systems integrators and end-users, offering benefits including lower total cost of service (TCS) for integrators. Advantages of the single-supplier model include improved sales planning, seamless technical support for end-to-end solutions, and reduced training requirements. New safe working practices IDIS is a very effective collaboration partner, helping to identify upgrade opportunities and new business" Among the companies benefiting from the diversification is systems integrator ISD Tech, which is involved in IDIS projects in the UK and mainland Europe. Managing Director Nicky Stokes commended IDIS’s approach to the market, and to working with partners to support customers long term, which he says is very different to the ‘box shifting’ distribution model: “IDIS is a very effective collaboration partner, helping to identify upgrade opportunities and new business. As well as giving our existing customers solutions that let them adapt to new safe working practices, we are also developing opportunities in new market sectors where IDIS already has a strong presence.” Face mask policy compliance Looking ahead, James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe, said the company would be further supporting integration partners by building out solutions to help businesses enforce safe working practice in Q3. “We will be helping them meet new government and industry guidelines with competitive video solutions for applications including building occupancy and density control, social distancing compliance and face mask policy compliance,” he confirmed.
The new Courtyard by Marriott hotel at London’s Luton Airport is being protected with the latest, cybersecure video surveillance technology from IDIS. The complete end-to-end solution, from Korea’s video equipment manufacturer, is enabling trouble-free remote 24/7 monitoring, ensuring improved service efficiency, safety and security for guests. IDIS DirectIP® technology was chosen for its ease of installation and use together with the reassurance of multi-layered protection against cybersecurity risks. Although the installation team from DGS Systems had never previously worked with IDIS technology before, they found that it lived up to its true plug-and-play promise. Providing impressive recording capability IDIS DirectIP® made it easy to set up the three IDIS NVRs to provide impressive recording capability Despite having almost 100 cameras to set up - including 74 full-HD IR domes and 17 vandal resistant full-HD IR domes – one-click network configuration allowed the engineers to work rapidly, connecting devices easily and not needing to manually enter passwords for each one. This not only reduced installation time but ensured greater protection against network infiltration by minimizing the likelihood of human error, which can occur when passwords need to be written down and entered manually. Encryption technologies and NVR firewalls together with proprietary protocols and file structures make IDIS surveillance solutions less vulnerable to attacks than many common open architecture components. IDIS DirectIP® made it easy to set up the three IDIS NVRs (32-channel DR-6332PS-S) to provide impressive recording capability and meet the customer’s requirement for three months’ storage of all footage. Protecting building exteriors The NVRs’ 370Mbps throughput ensures no latency on live footage and high-quality image capture in full HD. Most of the cameras are used for incident investigation, although with the hotel’s service areas now covered, operational efficiency has been improved too. The hotel’s owner also wanted to protect the car parks and building exteriors to reduce the risk of crime For example, routine checks on the rooftop plant room can now be handled remotely, rather than in person, which is particularly useful during adverse weather conditions. The hotel’s owner also wanted to protect the car parks and building exteriors to reduce the risk of crime, and shortly after the system was completed, a gang of opportunist scrap-metal thieves was recorded stealing cables from the site. Handling rapid variations in brightness The IDIS full-HD IR domes provided video evidence that was key to a successful police investigation, delivering pin-sharp images in all lighting conditions and easily handling rapid variations in brightness and shade thanks to their true wide dynamic range (WDR). “The IDIS solution was very installer-friendly and easy to configure,” says Dariusz Surowy of DGS Systems UK, confirming that the same technology is now being used on more sites. Grzegorz Surowy, MD of DGS Poland, agrees: “It has rapidly proved how well it works with successful incident investigations.” Meanwhile, James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe comments that IDIS solutions are designed to be easy to install, simple to use, and to give the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO). “For busy hotels such as the Courtyard by Marriott at Luton, they provide the perfect tool for safety, security and more efficient management.”
Confirming IDIS as one of the most trusted suppliers of surveillance tech in the UK, the company has been named as a finalist in the 2020 OSPA Awards – the only video manufacturer to be selected. IDIS, which is now Korea’s largest in-country video surveillance equipment manufacturer, has established a committed customer base in the UK by offering end-to-end video solutions that combine plug-and-play simplicity with advanced functions. End-To-End video solutions In 2018, year-on-year sales were up by 78%, with 22% consolidated growth across Europe It is an approach that has seen its sales grow consistently, every year, since its 2013 UK launch. In 2018, year-on-year sales were up by 78%, with 22% consolidated growth across Europe. UK OSPAs founder, Professor Martin Gill, said that IDIS and the other 2020 finalists had been identified by an independent panel of experts scoring against impartial and ethical judging criteria. “All those who are finalists reached a score threshold and those with low scores, or ranked lower than tenth equal, are eliminated. This ensures our finalists represent the very best in the industry.” IDIS has established its impressive customer base by offering end-to-end video solutions combining plug-and-play simplicity with advanced functions. From the early days of IP, the company took a different approach to its competitors. Video surveillance applications When everyone else was talking about the advantages of open-architecture IP surveillance and solutions on corporate networks, IDIS understood that there were drawbacks in that approach – and it has been proved right. Today it is almost universally accepted that for many SME video surveillance applications, dedicated networks are better. IDIS identified this reality correctly from the outset because it wasn’t led by what new technology could do, but by what customers actually needed. As a result IDIS DirectIP® was the first genuine, one-click plug-and-play solution which, at a stroke, removed a major burden on professional installers: IDIS believed there should be no need for engineers to learn how to handle networks and routers, or to manage passwords for each individual device. Multi-Site surveillance solutions IDIS developed a dual codec solution allowing simultaneous H.264 live viewing and H.265 high resolution recording Supporting installers who don’t have in-depth, knowledge of networking, IDIS’s For Every Network (FEN) peer-to-peer technology lets engineers deploy secure, multi-site surveillance solutions rapidly. IDIS has also led the way with other important innovations, including reducing the video storage and transmission burden for users with its Intelligent Codec, a powerful compression technology that cuts bandwidth requirements by up to 90% when combined with motion adaptive transmission (MAT). And to make the migration to H.265 easier and more affordable for users, IDIS developed a dual codec solution allowing simultaneous H.264 live viewing and H.265 high resolution recording - another example of technical innovation being fitted to customer realities, not the other way around. Proven track record of providing targeted IDIS has also focused on improving value for end-users, with its totally cost- and license- free IDIS Center VMS being powerful yet easy enough for non-specialist staff to use, and its industry-best Ultimate Warranty, guaranteeing cameras for five years and NVRs for seven years. “IDIS innovations have a proven track record of providing targeted, original answers to specific problems faced by end-users and installers,” says James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe. “We are delighted that our approach has been recognized in the 2020 OSPA Awards and we look forward to the finals on February 26th.”
IDIS has teamed up with integration partner ISD Tech to support the Men’s Shed community group in Church Crookham and Fleet with the donation of a state-of-the-art video monitoring solution. The donation is part of the IDIS ‘Create a Better World” campaign that has run on company’s social media channels since the start of the year to support a global commitment to enhance safety and security for social welfare projects and non-profit community organizations. The system, supplied and installed for free, is protecting a fully equipped new workshop, built with National Lottery funding and opened on the 22nd September 2019. IDIS NVRs, IP bullet cameras and domes with IR capability, now provide 24/7 video coverage of the new facility, inside and out, helping to protect high value power tools and other equipment. “The workshop is in quite a secluded location and it houses high value items, so it needs watching over out-of-hours,” explains Nicky Stokes, MD of ISD Tech. Video solution “We were delighted to provide this IDIS video solution to enable the volunteers who manage the site to receive alerts on their phones, and to view footage, if ever there’s an attempted intrusion or problem with vandalism.” The Church Crookham and Fleet Men’s Shed, is one of more than 520 across the UK helping to reduce isolation, particularly among older men, and supporting them as they contribute their knowledge and practical skills to local good causes – everything from building library shelves for primary schools, to making bird boxes for conservation groups, says Chairman Alan Walker. Research has warned about the negative impact of loneliness and isolation on health and wellbeing “We have 25 regularly active ‘shedders’ meeting twice a week and, as that number grows, we’ll increase the times that our workshop’ is open. Now, instead of just being old blokes tinkering away in isolation, we can have a joke and work together – in many ways it replicates the working environment." For a long time, research has warned about the negative impact of loneliness and isolation on health and wellbeing, with millions of people reporting feeling lonely on a daily basis. Video surveillance equipment Men’s Sheds have emerged as a practical way of tackling the problem, particularly for older men who find it more difficult to build social connections – although the organization welcomes members of all ages and genders. Group members meet to work on projects – fixing things, making things – to share tips and simply to enjoy each other’s company. Alan Walker, says more than 45 projects have already been completed by the group, and thanks to the IDIS video solution, both the ongoing work and the tools can be stored safely out-of-hours while the workshop is unoccupied. IDIS is Korea’s pioneer in-country video surveillance equipment manufacturer and, as it continues to expand in markets globally, the company is committed to supporting community initiatives and charity work, particularly efforts focused on mental health and wellbeing. “We were really pleased to help Men’s Shed with our video technology,” explains Jamie Barnfield, Sales Director, IDIS Europe. "This is a great community group, not only concerned with the wellbeing of their own members but also supporting the wider community around them with the projects they work on.” Surveillance technology James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe, noted: “Since IDIS was founded over two decades ago our corporate mission has been to develop technology that makes the world a safer and more secure place. And while we have witnessed giant leaps forward in surveillance technology, our ‘Create a Better World’ campaign is leveraging those innovations to benefit charitable causes that are close to the hearts of local staff as well as close to our facilities around the world.”
In a boost for video project implementations across Europe, all IDIS cameras, network recorders and accessories are now available to partners with next day delivery with the opening of a new distribution and after-sales service center in the Netherlands. IDIS, which is Korea’s in-country surveillance manufacturer, is opening the new distribution center to improve customer service and accelerate growth by supporting local distributors in each country through much faster delivery times, with all stock to be available within days, not weeks, even for the largest projects. “Our expanded operation means a huge step up in customer service,” says Joon Jun, President of the Global Business Division, IDIS. “It can take a long time for buyers to choose a new video solution, but once they decide, they want it very quickly – we will now be able to do that, right across Europe, and in most cases we will dispatch same day for orders placed before midday.” Strong position in multi-site retail We can guarantee much faster product delivery and quicker equipment repairs” The company saw 22% year-on-year growth across Europe last year and has developed a strong position in multi-site retail, including fashion chains, high-end boutiques and eating out sectors. IDIS has also built on its success during the 2018 Russian World Cup, when two of the main stadiums used IDIS video tech, with more European stadia now turning to IDIS surveillance to improve visitor and staff safety and manage the risks faced by major event venues. “For most applications customers don’t want to wait for service repairs or equipment upgrades,” added Joon Jun. IDIS distributors will now be able to better support their European integrator partners to win new projects with immediate rolling stock delivery as well as improve service levels with product refurbishments and repairs which will no longer need to be shipped to Korea. Regular firmware updates We’re backing up with after-sales service to increase service-levels for their customers” “Once a customer chooses an end-to-end IDIS solution they are fully protected and supported at every stage, including for maintenance, with regular firmware updates to protect against evolving cyber security risks, for scaling up and system expansion, and for ongoing free user training. Now we can also guarantee much faster product delivery and quicker equipment repairs.” James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe added: “IDIS is already well known for the industry-leading IDIS Ultimate Warranty and first line local technical support. We have our own dedicated tech support desk here in Brentford, London, as well as offering first-line technical support in multiple languages via our network of distribution partners throughout mainland Europe.” He adds: “We’re now backing this up with an additional layer of after-sales service in the Netherlands that will allow our national distributors and their system integration partners across Europe to increase service-levels for their customers.”

IDIS is highlighting the more caring side of surveillance technology as it launches an initiative to support a deserving charity or community group with the donation of an advanced video system. While security professionals are already aware of the good that CCTV continually does, in the public imagination video footage is all too often associated with the darker side of human nature and criminality. But video surveillance can equally reveal the more selfless and caring things that ordinary people do, points out IDIS in a new video entitled Create a Better World – simple acts of kindness from returning dropped wallets to making room for strangers in crowded lifts. IDIS has a long tradition of supporting social welfare and community development projects" Social and community welfare projects To show support for the Korean technology provider's plan to donate a complete system to a deserving cause – and potentially win a European mini-break for two people – EU and UK security installers, systems integrators, end-users and industry professionals can simply add a comment and like the campaign on the IDIS Facebook page. The closing date is September 30th and the chosen community organization will be announced by 14th October, along with the winner of the vacation. "IDIS has a long tradition of supporting social welfare and community development projects and we actively encourage employees in philanthropic activities near our facilities,” says James Min, Managing Director of IDIS Europe. "With our Create A Better World initiative we are looking to support projects that positively impact local communities by helping them with our expertise and technology.” The initiative builds on the success of a similar program in the US, which saw IDIS America donate new video tech to the Salvation Army of North Texas.

IDIS has launched its AI in the Box (DV-2116), boosting the power of surveillance systems with the most accurate deep learning analytics yet developed. Korea’s surveillance manufacturer says, that in independent tests IDIS Deep Learning Analytics (IDLA) has achieved industry-beating accuracy rates of 97%, a record performance which is further boosted by high speed processing. Affordable deep learning analytics Users benefit from robust and calibration-free object detection and classification; intrusion and loitering detectionThe DV-2116 makes deep learning analytics more affordable for small to mid-sized applications, enhancing security and control room efficiency. The plug-and-play IDLA-ready appliance comes embedded with an NVIDIA GTX1060 GPU chipset allowing the analysis of up to 16 channels simultaneously. Users benefit from robust and calibration-free object detection and classification (objects such as people, cars, and bicycles); intrusion and loitering detection; powerful, intelligent search functions; and tracking by color, object and number. The introduction of AI in the Box makes deep learning analytics now easier to adopt through trouble-free plug-and-play installation via IDIS Solutions Suite video management software (VMS). This allows installation without costly disruption. And the 97% accuracy minimizes false alarms, significantly improving detection and monitoring performance. Automated monitoring of video streams IDIS’s Deep Learning Engine can recognize potentially significant movements and characteristics of people and vehiclesJames Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe, says this latest innovation has the potential to make surveillance much less labor intensive – and more effective – for a wide range of users. “Our high accuracy analytics can process vast amounts of data, without break, in a way that human operators can’t. This means that high-resolution video streams can be automatically monitored to spot suspicious behavior or distinguish potential threats from every-day activity.” IDIS’s Deep Learning Engine, which powers the new DV-2116 AI in the Box solution, can recognize potentially significant movements and characteristics of people and vehicles, while ignoring activity that isn’t relevant. The technology can quickly check through hours of video to find specific individuals. IDIS has been shortlisted for both ‘Innovation of the Year for Security’ and ‘Best Health & Safety Project’, which are among the most competitive awards. The ‘Best Health & Safety Project’ category, which IDIS entered alongside its systems integration partner ISD Tech, recognizes the undertaking which has delivered the most significant improvements to the health, safety or wellbeing of people and/or premises. Video Surveillance Solution Last year Southern Health embarked on one of the biggest video upgrades The joint nomination between IDIS and ISD Tech highlighted their successful work to deliver video surveillance solution at child and adolescent mental healthcare facilities run by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. Last year Southern Health embarked on one of the biggest video upgrades ever undertaken in the NHS and its security department identified IDIS technology as the best for the project following a demanding proof-of-concept comparison. The ‘Innovation of the Year for Security’ category recognises products that have been developed to improve security standards across a wide range of technologies, from perimeter protection to cybersecurity. IDIS’s strong performance in this category is spearheaded by its 12MP Super Fisheye Camera which, since its launch 18 months ago, has become its best-selling model. 12MP Super Fisheye Camera The camera has been developed with the needs of both installers and end-users in mind, and for everyone it delivers improved system performance and security. For the installer, the Super Fisheye camera gives a better choice for wide area protection applications, including lobbies, auditoriums, corridors, open rooms and storage areas, and helps their customers to achieve more within their budgets. IDIS Super Fisheye delivers lower equipment cost and maintenance For the end-user the IDIS Super Fisheye delivers lower equipment costs (it can typically replace three or four fixed cameras), lower installation fees, a reduced maintenance burden and affordable operation (it records the full scene without the need for an operator 24/7) with intuitive and smooth de-warping in both live view and playback. “We are delighted that our 12MP Super Fisheye has performed so strongly in these competitive awards,” says James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe. “As a growing number of projects across the region and globally is now proving, this camera allows much more to be done within all budgets. It gives both integrators and end-users a whole new level of cost and performance benefits.” Video Surveillance Manufacturer IDIS is Korea’s in-country video surveillance manufacturer and, since opening its European headquarters in 2013, it has established a reputation as a leading one-stop video solutions supplier and worked hard to develop sustainable partnerships with end users, integrators and distributors.
IDIS Europe has reported record sales growth for 2018, with a 78% rise attributed to successful projects with long term partners and continued investment in technology and support services. Contributing to this success, the company, which is Korea’s largest in-country video surveillance manufacturer, was the supplier for major contract wins in the retail, eating-out, healthcare and education sectors. Since opening its European headquarters in Brentford, London in 2013, IDIS has established a strong technical support team and wide sales networks and the company has worked hard to develop profitable partnerships with both installers, integrators and distributors. Delivering Better Value And Technology For installers and integrators, IDIS is now focusing on reducing Total Cost to Serve, giving them complete, easy-to-source video solutions“Our core strategy as a company is to pursue sustainable growth alongside our partners, as a one-stop supplier for video solutions. This means working together to ensure customer satisfaction, delivering better value and better technology,” said James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe. For installers and integrators, IDIS is now focusing on reducing TCS (Total Cost to Serve), giving them complete, easy-to-source video solutions that offer more profitable implementations and predictable revenue streams. Going forward, this is a priority, says James Min, and it will be achieved by continuing to invest in video technology that eliminates complexity and earns the loyalty of end-users. Lower Total Cost Of Ownership “The most encouraging thing is that whenever customers switch to IDIS technology, they find that it gives them higher performance and a lower total cost of ownership (TCO). They also know that we are also working on new forward and backwards compatible technology to meet their future requirements.” IDIS’s model of simple-to-install technology from a ‘one solution one company’ supplier means more realistic and attractive maintenance Once on-board, customers tend to upgrade but not switch away from IDIS, which is good news for installers, he said. “We saw that with our new 12MP Super Fisheye camera, launched last year as a step up from of our original 5MP model. This has proved attractive for lots of our established customers as well as new users. It is already our best-selling unit.” For the integrator, IDIS’s model of simple-to-install technology from a ‘one solution one company’ supplier means more realistic and attractive maintenance and service agreements, the company says. Plug-And-Play Performance True plug-and-play performance was developed to reduce complexity for engineers installing and maintaining systems and in turn reduce cost and disruption for end users. The industry-leading IDIS Ultimate Warranty also offers greater long-term protection for both parties. True plug-and-play performance was developed to reduce complexity for engineers installing and maintaining systems“Anything that helps us to earn customer loyalty results in more sustainable long-term business,” adds Min. “We also recognize that our installation partners make a commitment to IDIS when they invest their time on engineer training and product knowledge, so it’s important that we repay that by supporting them to open up new opportunities.” Looking ahead, IDIS predicts strong sales performance to continue in 2019, with more major projects in the pipeline and new technology launches making it attractive to expand existing systems as well as to install new ones.
Korean video surveillance and technology firm, IDIS, has been confirmed as a double finalist in the 2018 Security & Fire Excellence Awards. The keenly-contested annual award, now in its nineteenth year, highlights outstanding achievements in 26 key security and fire sector categories covering people, projects and processes. Cutting-Edge Video Innovation IDIS has been shortlisted for both the title of 2018 Security Hardware Manufacturer of the Year and that of Security Software Manufacturer of the Year, an achievement that reflects the company’s broad capabilities at the cutting edge of video surveillance innovation. Critical Failover Technology In the Software category, IDIS’s award entry focused on its Critical Failover technology, which has been embedded across its cameras and NVRs In the Software category, IDIS’s award entry focused on its Critical Failover technology, which has been embedded across its cameras and NVRs over the last year. Critical Failover addresses widespread concerns about the fault tolerance of enterprise level video infrastructure. It prevents loss of potentially vital footage during a range of likely fault conditions, including network instability, network failure, storage failure, recorder hardware failure and power supply outage. As evidence for the importance of failover technology, the 2018 IFSEC Global Video Surveillance Trend Report found that, of the 243 professionals surveyed, 65% said they took loss of video footage ‘very seriously’, and 25% ‘moderately seriously’, while only 9% viewed it as a ‘minor problem’. Securing IP Cameras, NVRs And PoE The report concluded that contingencies are needed for a range of faults since cameras, storage NVRs/DVRs, software and PoE or other cables are all prone to failure with comparative frequency. Meanwhile, in the Hardware category, IDIS’s award entry highlighted a number of innovations launched over the last year, including a new line up of H.265 cameras and NVRs including the powerful 64-channel IDIS DR-8364 NVR; the 4K DR-8400 series NVRs that support RAID 1,5,6 and 10 and come with a throughput of 960ips; the award nominated HE-1101 HDMI/VGA video encoder; and a range of military grade, ruggedized NVRs. Super Fisheye Camera With IDIS Intelligent Codec Perhaps the stand out product, which has rapidly become the company’s most popular model, is the 12MP Super Fisheye Camera Perhaps the stand out product, which has rapidly become the company’s most popular model since it was launched in October 2017, is the 12MP Super Fisheye Camera. What these awards recognize is that in improving our technology we are helping our customers to deal more effectively with changing and challenging real-world risks.” Global Video Surveillance Firm Founded in 1997 by experts in computer science and artificial intelligence, IDIS is a global surveillance solution provider. With headquarters and manufacturing facilities based in South Korea and dedicated offices that offer training and technical support in the UK, Dubai and the USA, IDIS has grown to become a global security company that designs, develops, and manufactures surveillance solutions for a wide range of commercial and public-sector markets.
An upgraded public area CCTV solution using robust video capture technology from IDIS, Korea’s global surveillance technology provider, is safeguarding Leybourne in Kent against anti-social behavior. The new system, designed and installed by iC2 CCTV, has allowed the parish council to work within a limited budget to deliver extended coverage, improved image quality and no data loss. Leybourne is a village with a strong community feel and an attractive rural character however, with good transport links to the nearby M20, residents were concerned about the risk of crime coming in from outside the area. Budget constraints also meant that data-streaming had to be capped and as a result video evidence was only being recorded part time Devise A Solution Prior to the upgrade the village had limited public area surveillance based on outdated analog technology, but it was proving costly to maintain and difficult to adapt to changing needs. Budget constraints also meant that data-streaming had to be capped and as a result video evidence was only being recorded part time. London-based integrator iC2 CCTV was consulted and asked to devise a solution that would work within the funds available. To achieve the lowest total cost of ownership, iC2 CCTV recommended installing the latest IDIS technology on a 5GHz point-to-point wireless infrastructure. At the heart of the new system is a powerful 64-channel, full HD NVR recorder – model DR-8364D – which offers the important advantage of flexible H.265/H.264 dual codec performance. This feature allows recording in high-definition H.265 but viewing on a variety of older screens using H.2264, so it means existing display equipment can be retained. Significantly Improved Protection A combination of 3-megapixel and 5-megapixel IDIS domes and bullet cameras mounted on lamp-posts in key locations gives significantly improved coverage and image detail. And IDIS Smart Failover provides the best guarantee against data loss: if Leybourne’s network connection is compromised for any reason, all recordings continue to be stored on SD cards within the cameras and are then automatically downloaded as soon as the connection is re-established. The IDIS technology together with the wireless network, installed over five weeks by iC2 CCTV without disrupting the village, gives Leybourne significantly improved protection without high ongoing costs. Unlike the old analog system, recordings are now easily searchable with time/date stamped footage and the high definition image quality is ideal for use in investigations and as evidence. IDIS Smart Failover ensures that uninterrupted evidence is always retained in the event of transmission failures Excellent Quality Data IDIS Smart Failover ensures that uninterrupted evidence is always retained in the event of transmission failures, without the need for time-consuming manual data downloads from individual cameras. “This robust, new video system is proving very popular with Leybourne Parish Council and the community and enables us to provide excellent quality data and images for Kent Police and the local authorities,” stated the chairman of the Parish Council Bob Ulph. “It has already deterred a lot of the anti-social behavior that councillors and residents were concerned about and is providing reassurance that any crime in the future will be dealt with.” More cameras can now be easily added, or the location of cameras changed as the need arises, says James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe, and the system is protected by the IDIS Ultimate seven-year warranty and the assurance that the technology will be forward-flexible to meet future needs.
