HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, has partnered with Samsung to provide enterprises with a secure and seamless management and door opening experience via the robust KNOX 2.4 mobile platform that will be integrated into the new Samsung Galaxy S6 smart phone. Enterprises can now deploy HID Mobile Access® using Samsung’s advanced Android secure mobility platform in combination with Seos®, a secure, privacy-protecting mobileaccess platform. The Seos-powered mobile access solution addresses both security and privacy, key concerns in mobility management strategies for enterprises intent on securing people, buildings and assets. “Mobility is a top priority for organizations because more employees than ever before are demanding access to the apps and data that will make them productive on-the-go. Whether using their own devices or a corporate-owned device, employees can use this integrated solution to access their workplace conveniently and securely,” said Debra Spitler, Vice President, Strategic Alliances with HID Global. “We are pleased to partner with Samsung to deliver a versatile secure solution for mobile access across the enterprise.” Users can quickly download the HID Mobile Access App to their Samsung mobile device and access doors and gates via NFC or Bluetooth Smart by interacting with iCLASS SE® readers from HID Global. In addition, administrators can issue and revoke Mobile IDs via the HID Secure Identity Services™ portal. “By partnering with HID Global, Samsung is able to provide enterprise IT departments with the ability to leverage the Samsung KNOX platform when implementing HID Mobile Access,” said Rick Segal, Vice President of Enterprise Business Team, IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “This capability allows enterprises to push the HID Mobile Access application and profile directly to the user’s KNOX container resulting in a highly secure solution.”
HID Global’s mobile-enabled iCLASS SE® readers have been deployed for access to the suite HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced it has worked with Datawatch Systems®, Inc., an HID Advantage Gold Partner and industry leading access control and security systems integrator, to create a demonstration suite at 555 12th Street N.W, in downtown Washington D.C, where prospective tenants can preview the property’s mobile access control capabilities that are integrated with other advanced technology in the multi-tenant building. Visitors are provided with a Samsung Galaxy S®4 or Apple® iPhone® 5C smartphone that can be used to enter and exit the suite and activate other systems inside the building. “We are excited about this project with Datawatch, whose client can now show prospective tenants, first-hand, the value of combining security and convenience at the door with our award-winning HID Mobile Access® solution that is powered by Seos®,” said Debra Spitler, vice president, Strategic Alliances with HID Global. “This capability is quickly becoming a competitive advantage for property owners and managers who want to offer the best possible tenant experience leveraging mobile phones and other smart devices.” Datawatch’s DirectAccess® system is used to manage the mobile access control solution in its client’s demonstration suite. HID Global’s mobile-enabled iCLASS SE® readers have been deployed for access to the suite, which can be entered using a Mobile ID from HID Global that has been provisioned to one of two demonstration smartphones, a Samsung Galaxy S4 or an Apple iPhone 5C, each utilising Bluetooth Smart for mobile access. Visitors can either tap their device to a reader at the door, or rotate it as they approach from a distance. The initial Mobile ID authentication at the door also activates the HVAC system and lights. The DirectAccess system analyses load requirements with each subsequent entry and exit using HID Global’s Mobile IDs, and adjusts accordingly. Departure of the last person triggers the controls to turn off the lights. “We are pleased to partner with HID Global in order to offer this cutting-edge technology to our clients,” said Billy Peel, Executive Vice President of Datawatch Systems. For over 30 years, the products and services Datawatch markets have been driven by client requirements. “Anticipating what our clients are looking for is what led us to offer this secure mobile access control solution,” said Jonathan Peel, Regional Sales Manager of Datawatch. “It offers many user benefits and is interoperable with the more than one million credentials we have already issued on access cards, key fobs and other ID solutions.” Datawatch had additional reasons for selecting HID Mobile Access for its client’s demonstration suite, including the fact that it operates with the most commonly used iOS® and Android™ devices, and is very flexible. “Even during a call, the mobile device can be used to open a door,” said Para Weerasuriya, Director, Technology Services of Datawatch. “HID Global’s solution works seamlessly with our DirectAccess system, and can be configured to use both Mobile IDs and existing proximity, iCLASS® and other smart card credentials.”
HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced that it has completed its second successful mobile access control pilot with RFI Communications & Security Systems at Netflix®, the world's leading Internet subscription service for enjoying TV series and films. For the latest project, pilot participants used the HID Mobile Access® solution on a variety of Samsung and Apple smartphones with Bluetooth Smart communications channels, and utilised HID Global’s patented “Twist and Go” gesture technology as a new, more convenient way to open doors. “We were pleased with the results of our initial pilot in 2012 with HID Global and RFI, which validated the benefits of mobile access control for physical enterprise security,” said Amy Dee, director of procurement and facilities with Netflix. “Our latest 2014 project really illustrates how far mobile access control has come over the last couple of years. The HID Mobile IDs and HID Mobile Access App are extremely easy to use, and HID Global’s mobile-enabled readers meet all the needs of our demanding enterprise environment. We also found that the HID Secure Identity Services portal is easy to use, making identity management a very simple and secure process.” A key element of the 2014 pilot was the use of Bluetooth Smart, whereas NFC was the only short-range communication technology available for mobile access control during the 2012 Netflix pilot. Adding support for Bluetooth Smart enables mobile access control to be used with popular smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices, without the need for accessories. Bluetooth Smart also delivers a longer connection range, which, coupled with HID Global’s patented “Twist and Go” gesture technology, makes it possible to open doors and gates while driving or walking up to a mobile-enabled reader by simply rotating the smartphone. Powered by Seos®, the HID Mobile Access solution worked seamlessly with the existing Netflix access control system from AMAG, and HID Global’s mobile-enabled iCLASS SE® readers delivered maximum flexibility by enabling participants to use Mobile IDs as well as their existing HID Prox keyfobs and MicroProx Tags. “HID Global has established a true ecosystem for mobile access control that, in turn, has created the opportunity for partners like RFI to enter new markets where we can deliver important new capabilities and customer value,” said Brad J. Wilson, CPP, President and COO, RFI Enterprises, Inc. “As an HID Advantage Platinum Partner, it has been extremely valuable working with HID Global on this ground-breaking pilot. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with a company that has great vision and the critical ability to anticipate and help lead industry developments that require the highest levels of trust and authentication.” According to Adrian Noriega, the RFI field project manager who installed HID Mobile Access for the Netflix pilot, the HID Mobile Access Configuration Application was used to configure the Bluetooth Smart portion of the iCLASS SE reader so that users could either tap their smartphone to it or rotate (twist) the device as they approached it. Installing the HID Mobile Access App on participants’ phones was also quick and trouble-free. “Once participants received the invitation code, they were able to use the App with ease,” Noriega said. “Also, having the ability to use the ‘Twist and Go’ feature was very convenient for pilot participants. This solution really represents technology at its best, and the next step in security and convenience for access control.” “This pilot demonstrated the benefits of HID Mobile Access while also highlighting our ongoing commitment to valued HID Advantage Partners like RFI, which is ranked #16 on the 2014 SDM Magazine 100 Report,” said Debra Spitler, vice president, Strategic Alliances with HID Global. “Our customers and partners are both vitally important to us as we work to innovate what’s next in secure identities, and to bring new products, solutions and services to market.”
The partnership brings HID Mobile Access and Trusted Tag Services into the SEAP network HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced that it has been named a silver partner in the Samsung® Enterprise Alliance Program (SEAP). The partnership brings the company’s award-winning HID Mobile Access® solution for opening doors using smartphones, and HID Trusted Tag® Services that add trusted identities for everyday objects for “Internet of Things” applications, into Samsung’s extensive product sales and marketing ecosystem. “HID Global is pleased to be working with Samsung to offer exciting new secure identity capabilities to its smartphone customers,” said Debra Spitler, vice president, Strategic Alliances with HID Global. “Helping Samsung users transform their smartphones into trusted credentials will deliver a new era of functionality, from opening doors without needing a key or smart card, to authenticating objects in a growing range of consumer uses cases and applications.” Powered by Seos®, HID Mobile Access makes it possible for customers to use NFC- and Bluetooth Smart-enabled Samsung Galaxy and Samsung Note smartphones to open doors by “tapping” the phone to a door reader or electronic lock. The solution also enables users to access doors and gates from a distance via Bluetooth Smart and the company’s patented “Twist and Go” gesture technology. Samsung devices also support use of the HID Mobile Access Configuration Application that is used by system installers to quickly dial-in and optimize the read range of Bluetooth-enabled iCLASS SE® readers based on environmental conditions. The company’s mobile access solution delivers an overall user-friendly deployment experience by enabling users to quickly download the HID Mobile Access App to their Samsung smart device; administrators can also easily issue and revoke Mobile IDs via the HID Secure Identity Services™ portal. In addition to HID Mobile Access, Samsung devices can also be used with HID Trusted Tag Services. By combining HID Trusted Tags, NFC technology and secure cloud authentication services, HID Trusted Tag Services offer the innovative capability of adding unique and trusted identities to everyday objects. These objects can be read by NFC-enabled Samsung smartphones for “proof of presence” applications, ranging from tapping a smart poster for an interactive brand experience, to verifying the visit of home health staff in a patient’s residence or confirming student attendance on college campuses. The services can also be used for brand protection and other “Internet of Things” applications.
