IDS Imaging Development Systems has enhanced its modular camera platform with the introduction of the GigE PoE Daughterboard, which simplifies the integration of its motherboard-level cameras. This new board supports power supply and data transfer through a single cable, compatible with the motherboards from the GigE uEye LE and uEye SLE series. The innovative design is based on a flexible interface concept utilizing a compact flat ribbon connector, allowing the connection between the camera and a remote interface electronic unit. This setup is particularly beneficial for space-restricted or custom-designed products.
Enhanced Flexibility with PoE Daughterboard
By incorporating the PoE Daughterboard, cameras can have their sensors and optics independently positioned within housings without being limited by power supply or data connection locations. "With the new PoE daughterboard, we are once again significantly simplifying the use of our smallest single-board cameras. Power supply and data transmission can now be achieved using a single cable with an RJ45 connector – this makes integration more convenient for our customers and opens up additional freedom for individual housing concepts," stated Marcus Rembold, Product Manager at IDS.
Key Features of the GigE PoE Daughterboard
The GigE uEye LE Rev.2/uEye SLE PoE Daughterboard features a Gigabit Ethernet interface with Power over Ethernet capabilities (PoE, IEEE 802.3af), which allows for single-cable operation through an RJ45 socket. This solution is compatible with the motherboard variants of the GigE uEye LE Rev. 2 and uEye SLE cameras, primarily focusing on reducing cabling requirements and eliminating the need for additional power sources.
Applications & Integration Opportunities
The new GigE PoE Daughterboard is designed for customized housing solutions and space-constrained environments, enabling engineers and developers to create modular camera systems that are both compact and efficient. Its development marks a significant innovation for professionals seeking to optimize their surveillance and monitoring applications with minimal design constraints.
