Moxa announces the release of a new IP dome camera that enables more reliable video surveillance performance in harsh outdoor installations.

Able to operate in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 122°F without a fan or heater, the Moxa VPort P26 outdoor IP dome camera is housed in an exceptionally rugged metal enclosure with IP66 rain/dust protection and an IK10 vandal-resistant dome cover. The camera is designed to withstand impacts of up to 20 joules or approximately the impact caused by an 11-pound weight dropped from a height of 16 inches. In addition, the camera has built-in protection from electromagnetic interference and surges, along with a dehumidifying membrane that prevents damage from internal moisture. An SDHC SD card slot permits local storage of video in the event of a network outage.

Along with industrial-grade features, the VPort P26 features superior imaging performance. It captures high quality images at SVGA resolution (800 x 600), three simultaneous H.264/MJPEG video streams at up to 30 fps, and includes an IR Cut filter for day/night use. Images are enhanced even further with built-in 3D-DNR (3D Digital Noise Reduction), which greatly reduces noise, and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), which produces more vibrant images in backlit conditions. The adjustable vari-focal lenses can accommodate viewing lengths from 2.2 mm to 12 mm, which offers a lot more range than cameras with a fixed lens.

Using standard IEEE 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet technology, the VPort P26 can receive power through the same cable used for the network connection. Most outdoor IP dome cameras are relatively power-hungry because they require both a heater and fan. Since the VPort P26 requires neither, it boasts a low maximum power consumption of only 11.7 watts, so it can run off of a standard PoE switch and does not require its own separate power supply.

The Moxa VPort P26 is ONVIF-compliant for cost-effective system standardization and interoperability, increasing reliability and making it easier to deploy. Moxa has also partnered with the leading video management software providers in the world to achieve close integration of Moxa's video surveillance products with third-party management systems.
