"The confined nature of tunnels presents a uniquely challenging environment where fire safety is concerned"
The confined nature of tunnels presents a uniquely challenging environment where fire safety is concerned. Factors such as the length of tunnels, the difficulty of access and the higher heat release rate from fire, make any delay even more critical than in other scenarios. As a result, at D-Tec, we are seeing growing interest in the deployment of Video Smoke Detection with its proven ability to identify smoke rapidly (typically in seconds). There is also the added flexibility which comes with the availability of IP based solutions such as FireVu."

The winners of the Fire Excellence Awards will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 12 May at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
