New CCTV technology strengthens security system at Cowpen Lane Industrial Estate
CBC's Ganz C-AllView ruggedised PTZ camera technology was positioned by Vizsec in a novel way
World leading surveillance systems manufacturer CBC (Europe) has partnered with Visual Security Systems (Vizsec) to significantly improve protection at an industrial estate in north-east England. The new CCTV technology installed has played a major role in strengthening security at Cowpen Lane Industrial Estate in Billingham, one of several such estates on Teesside.

Cleveland-based Vizsec has deployed CBC's Ganz C-AllView ruggedised PTZ camera technology in a particularly novel way to provide rapid deployment surveillance in combination with wireless image transmission. Vizsec Managing Director Ashwin Lal explains that, as part of a 24-camera system operating around the estate, the C-AllView equipment provides crystal clear images within a vandal-resistant, IP67-sealed housing. The objective was to offer wireless based imaging from locations where cabling was inappropriate, with the option of relocating the system as and when crime was displaced.

Other cameras on the estate are mounted at higher level, looking down on specific parts of the site, but longer-range, wider views were needed from lower locations such as the corner of buildings, where conventional surveillance units are more exposed to harm. CBC's C-AllView technology provides this solution, through a combination of its rugged housing and 30x optical zoom (with up to 36x optical available) - contained within Vizsec's rapid deployment system, with its built-in transmission equipment, antennae and power supply.

Customer satisfaction
Speaking about the installation, Mike Devereux, whose business Devereux Developments operates a haulage, removal and storage business on the site, says the surveillance measures have helped control access to the estate and monitor movements in and around the area. As Chairman of the Cowpen Industrial Association - which won Business Improvement District funding some three years ago - he adds that the CCTV system has worked in conjunction with other security measures to considerably reduce crimes such as vandalism and thefts suffered by local businesses. "CBC's C-AllView technology was chosen for reasons including its visible deterrence factor and the footage fed back to our recording location has proved the quality of its images, boosting our coverage and capabilities in terms of high-res recordings that the police can successfully follow up on," he comments.

Ashwin Lal of Vizsec adds that the re-deployable CBC system was specially designed to provide camera views in hard-to-wire locations to quickly extend the reach of the fibre-optic wired CCTV camera network around the Cowpen Lane industrial estate: "In terms of support, CBC is always available to provide us with reliable equipment and helpful technical advice/back-up. That's why we've worked with the company for many years. C-AllView provides very good images and we'd certainly recommend this quality surveillance system to others."
