Vicon’s PTZ dome security cameras get onboard the Havila Venus
Vicon's SurveyorVFT pressurized pan, tilt and zoom camera
A high-tech surveillance system, including Vicon's SurveyorVFT pressurized pan, tilt and zoom cameras and a Pilot series matrix switching system with Nova series keypads, is among the many state-of-the-art features onboard the Havila Venus.

Dubbed the "Greenest Ship on the Seas," the Havila Venus is an anchor-handling tug supply vessel (AHTS). This ultra-modern addition to the Havila Shipping fleet boasts an advanced hybrid propulsion system capable of operating in several modes: diesel mechanic, diesel electric and a combination of both.

The Vicon surveillance system also pulls double duty; cameras survey both the machine room and the huge on-deck winches used to haul loads, with control keypads and monitors located in the engine room and on the bridge. Modern vessels like the Havila Venus rely heavily on technology like CCTV to compensate for smaller crews.

On the outside, the Havila Venus was designed to ensure stability and buoyancy in even the worst weather conditions. The SurveyorVFT pressurized domes easily meet these requirements, with their protective domes remaining free of fog and condensation even in the harsh North Sea. The ship's frame is also engineered to maximize engine power while minimizing fuel consumption and emissions that may be harmful to the natural environment.

Engineering ingenuity has extended to the inside of the vessel as well. Employee satisfaction is important to Havila Shipping and the company has demonstrated this by providing accommodations, features and facilities meant to ensure the safety and comfort of the crew. Vicon's Norway office, located in Oslo, is proud to have contributed to the high-tech features that make this ship a maritime marvel both at sea and in the docks.
