Key topics at ESX 2015 will include alarm management and increasing the efficiency of police response to alarm calls
Anthony W. Batts will outline his vision and predictions for the future of policing

The Electronic Security Expo (ESX)-the national trade show where electronic security and life safety dealers, integrators, and monitoring professionals connect, learn, and prepare for the future-has announced that Anthony W. Batts, Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department will be the featured speaker at the ESX 2015 Networking & Public Safety Luncheon.

Batts' presentation will outline his vision and predictions for the future of policing-including how partnerships between law enforcement and the security industry will help resolve issues of mutual concern. Key topics will include alarm management and increasing the efficiency of police response to alarm calls. Batts will also share his thoughts on how security industry professionals can start forging these key relationships with local law enforcement now.

"In the near future, partnerships between law enforcement and the security industry will be intrinsic to community policing and problem solving," says Batts.

Batts has served as Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department since 2012. He began his career in 1982 in Long Beach working street patrol and narcotics, then rose through the ranks holding command positions in patrol, field support, community relations, and investigations before being named chief of the 1,600-employee department in October of 2002.

Prior to his move to Baltimore, Batts served as Chief of Police for two of California's largest police agencies-the Long Beach and Oakland Police Departments. During his tenure at these agencies, he presided over significant reductions in crime and violence and increases in public trust. He is credited with reforming the City of Oakland's police agency to focus on data-driven policing, and in Long Beach, he established an Office of Community Policing and reduced excessive force complaints, while simultaneously reducing crime. His numerous awards, citations, and honors include the Governor's Award for the most effective crime fighting program in California, the NAACP Community Service Award, and the Long Beach Police Department Meritorious Award for Heroism.

During the Networking & Public Safety Luncheon, ESX will honor deserving individuals and organizations

"Commissioner Batts' experience and foresight make him an excellent resource for members of our industry as we prepare for the future," says Glen Mowrey, Retired Deputy Police Chief of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and National Law Enforcement Liaison for the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC).

During the Networking & Public Safety Luncheon, ESX will honor deserving individuals and organizations. The winner of the ESA Youth Scholarship program will be announced, the recipient of the Police Dispatch Quality Award (PDQ) will be jointly presented by the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) and Security Sales & Integration (SS&I), the winner of the William N. Moody award will be presented by SIAC, and the inaugural presentation of the CSAA Public Sector Award, will be given in recognition of an individual's contribution to a public sector program.
