Hikvision, one of world’s renowned supplier of innovative security products and solutions, successfully hosted the second ‘Shaping Intelligence’ AI Cloud Summit at Hangzhou Whitehorse Lake International Exhibition Center from 29-30 March. Under the theme of ‘Data Enrichment with AI’, the summit served as a platform for AI Cloud ecosystem partners to exchange knowledge on leading-edge AI and big data technologies and applications. It comprised a main forum and four sub-forums on the topics of Finance, Commerce, Public Services and Smart Governance for Cities. Over 3,000 participants took part, including Hikvision customers, industry leaders, academic experts and partners. Information network data The AI Cloud will be able to support our customers in their quest to unleash the full potential of AI and IoT" One of the most important topics discussed at the conference was how Hikvision’s AI Cloud platform can support the integration of IoT and information network data in order to drive the future development of new, intelligent applications. Ideas discussed included the development of a computing architecture that unites cloud and edge computing, plus a data architecture that can enable the integration of intelligent IoT and information network data. “We believe that, as a fusion platform, the AI Cloud will be able to support our customers in their quest to unleash the full potential of AI and IoT,” said Yangzhong Hu, CEO of Hikvision, during his keynote speech at the main forum. “Ubiquitous intelligence will be the new normal of the AI era; intelligent applications and their data generation will be the engine.” Standard systems The Hikvision AI Cloud was developed to solve real-world challenges across different vertical markets, and to create continuous value to end users. The cutting-edge architecture is designed to enable collaboration between partners across edge computing, industry applications, service platforms and standard systems, and much more. As one example of this, Hikvision demonstrated how the launch of its AI algorithm training system has enabled partners to train algorithms easily for specific customer application needs and deployment. Using a digitized event exhibition area of 6,000 square metres, Hikvision and its ecosystem partners also demonstrated versatile AI solutions, including Smart Retail, Smart Campus, Smart Financial Service, Smart Construction, Smart Agriculture and much more. AI algorithm training system Public Services forum focused on how AI technology can support the improvement of public services management In addition, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) was showcased including Intelligent Buses, Intelligent Road Networks, Intelligent Airports and Intelligent Railway Systems, all designed to boost passenger safety and enhance the travel experience. At the four sub-forums held on the second day, end users from different markets exchanged thoughts and shared use cases of collaborating with Hikvision and AI deployment. At the Commercial forum, partners from retail, energy, property management and logistics explored how AI can increase business insight and transform how businesses operate. At the Smart Governance for Cities forum, traffic authorities from different parts of China shared successful AI applications, including how E-Police solutions help identify traffic violations and reduce the number of human injuries and fatalities. AI-powered big data By merging video information with other systems and algorithms, traffic big data can be visualized on city maps to further guide traffic and improve urban commuting. At the Finance forum, banks including China Construction Bank and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China overviewed their digitized transformation with AI in banking security and management, showcasing how AI-powered big data was a key enabler in this process. The Public Services forum focused on how AI technology can support the improvement of public services management. Among other sessions, Hikvision partners introduced AI applications for distance learning, smart classrooms, campus safety and enhanced learning environments.
Organized by Hikvision, the 2018 AI Cloud World Summit was successfully held at Hangzhou International Expo Centre from March 30–31. Over 2,000 participants attended the summit, including industry experts and scholars, as well as Hikvision partners including Microsoft, Intel, Milestone Systems and Axxonsoft. Attendees and presenters explored trends in AI development, its real-world applications, and opportunities for AI-related partner cooperation in global markets. Hikvision introduced AI Cloud in October 2017 at the China Public Security Expo in Shenzhen. AI Cloud is a development concept born out of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) era. It is a three-layered architecture that incorporates cloud and edge computing to provide multi-dimensional perception and front-end processing at Edge Nodes, and then process data in real-time and converged to Edge Domains for intelligent applications and create new data, and further converge on-demand data to the Cloud Center for big data analysis. The next generation of Artificial Intelligence is moving towards big data intelligence, collective intelligence, and cross-media intelligence AI cloud Ecosystems Through Open Collaboration Artificial intelligence is thought to be another rising technology that is going to significantly impact the human society. In his keynote speech, Yunhe Pan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, highlighted that Artificial Intelligence is already evolving to its next stage due to the emergence of new social needs such as smart cities, smart medicine, and unmanned driving, as well as significant changes in information environments like the Internet, mobile computing, cloud computing, Internet of Things and others. In short, the next generation of Artificial Intelligence is moving towards big data intelligence, collective intelligence, and cross-media intelligence. “A large number of application requirements are surging in a fragmented way. The implementation of AI is restricted mainly by three factors – data, computing power and application. To accelerate the process, it is necessary for all stakeholders in every industry to be open and collaborative to build an AI industry ecosystem,” said Yangzhong Hu, President of Hikvision addressing in the summit. “To enable more partners to participate in the construction and sharing of the AI ecosystem, the company will be fully open on its products and services, including the AI Cloud software platform, training system, AI services, data annotation and data sharing services, etc.” Dr. Shiliang Pu pointed to advantages of edge perception and its ability to generate multi-layered cognition to empower AI applications Emerging Needs For Edge Computing At the summit, Oliver Philippou, Associate Research Director at IHS Markit, gave Hikvision’s international attendees a presentation titled ‘Artificial Intelligence – The Present and Future Prospects for Video Surveillance’. According to Philippou, increasing numbers of network cameras on the global market pushes the development of video analytics further toward convergence – to edge and cloud systems – requiring better algorithms and deep learning to provide maximum accuracy. Dr. Shiliang Pu, President of Hikvision’s Research Institute, shared the company’s AI research facilities, milestones, and achievements over the past years. Dr. Pu pointed to advantages of edge perception and its ability to generate multi-layered cognition to empower AI applications. It is the joint efforts for various providers to build up this AI ecosystem. Hikvision, an IoT solutions provider with video as its core technology, has announced the release of a cybersecurity white paper designed to be an educational resource for the security industry. Hikvision believes it is crucial for industry leaders to work together to understand cybersecurity risks and to take measures to meet those challenges for the IoT industry. Data And Asset Security “The surveillance industry originally relied on analog technology which operated on private networks. In those days, the industry focused on product cost, performance, and ease of use. The Hikvision cybersecurity white paper outlines current security threats for the Internet of Things, and for network and information security in the surveillance industry. It explores the product security lifecycle and product security research to protect user data in comprehensive ways, and safeguard assets from common cyber threats.Cybersecurity challenges will always be around, so we must remain vigilant and keep working on improving product security" Cybersecurity Management Best Practices Hikvision is committed to supporting and adhering to internationally recognized cybersecurity standards and best practices. It is dedicated to using and improving open and transparent methods so that customers and users can assess Hikvision’s cybersecurity capabilities. “Cybersecurity is not only the responsibility of product manufacturers. Everyone who participates throughout a project’s lifecycle, including users, system integrators, operators, system designers, and other service providers, are all responsible for using cybersecurity best practices. All stakeholders must contend with the same cybersecurity challenges.
