ComNet Europe Ltd of Leeds in the United Kingdom, a division of ComNet Communication Networks a USA-based manufacturer of fiber optic transmission and networking equipment, is introducing a four-port self-managed ethernet switch, the CNGE2+2SMS. The switch has two copper Gigabit TX ports and two user-configurable multi-rate 100 or 1000Mbps Gigabit SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) Ethernet ports. These self-managed switches were designed as a simple, yet cost effective solution to allow IP video to be introduced in multiple locations on a ring network topology without the cost and complexity a managed switch requires. The unit features Gigabit TX ports that take in IP video and two SFP optical ports that take in data from the previous network device and forward it optically to the next device in a ring topology. This very small sized switch also has two PoE models to provide either 30 or 60 watts of power to IP cameras requiring power and are ideal for use in confined spaces. Easy Way To Add IP Video To A Network The key benefit to users of the CNGE2+2SMS is its ease of use. It offers management without the cost or user knowledge required for a managed switch. This port-configured Ethernet switch allows the user to enable a unique Mux function which when used in a linear topology prevents network flooding of multicast traffic. The CNGE2+2SMS is pre-programmed and meets the IEEE 802.1w RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) for a true self-healing network in the event of a path failure. The two optical or electrical SFP ports are designed to forward the Ethernet data coming in from the two electrical ports to the next switch, to a PC, or another Ethernet connection. The CNGE2+2SMS uses SFPs for fiber type, connector type and distance. The CNGE2+2SMS is a cost-effective and easy way to add IP video to a network and is designed for use in harsh environmental applications. Easy To Implement Ring Topology Network According to Steve Clarke, ComNet Europe Managing Director, “ComNet has always focused on taking the complexity out of IP video networks. With this new product, in addition to making a ring topology network easy to implement, we’re able to remove a costly element, and giving our customers the opportunity to save about 25% versus using managed switches. The ComNet CNGE2+2SMS is another example of ComNet understanding the needs of the market.” “Our extensive line of self-managed switches has been a huge success. With the introduction of the CNGE2+2SMS self-managed switch, we continue to round out our switch offerings and solve a multitude of challenges our customers face,” said Skip Haight, ComNet VP of Marketing. “ComNet understands the benefits of Ethernet and with the CNGE2+2SMS, we have removed the complexity and cost associated with these types of IP-video applications,” Haight continued. ComNet offers an extensive line of fiber optic, copper and wireless video and data transmission equipment that is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the Security and Intelligent Transportation System market.
ComNet Europe Ltd of Leeds in the United Kingdom, a division of ComNet Communication Networks, a USA-based manufacturer of fiber optic, wireless and copper transmission and networking equipment, has introduced the NetWave® NW8 wireless Ethernet link that is designed to support redundant ring and “Drop-and-Insert” functionality on a wireless network. The NW8 is a dual radio version of the recently introduced NW series of environmentally hardened wireless Ethernet products. ComNet positions this product as a solution for large-scale perimeter protection for facilities such as airports, border patrol and other large facilities where a wired infrastructure is cost-prohibitive. The NW8 models feature dual gigabit Ethernet ports that support up to two IP connections and allow for multiple IP cameras to be aggregated onto the wireless network. The NW8 also supports optional IEEE802.3at PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) for powering PoE connected devices, such as IP PoE cameras and simplifying installation. “Wireless Ethernet gives our customers an incredible amount of flexibility. Our goal of making wireless as easy as Power, Point and Play was step 1. Step 2 is to start examining different unique use scenarios and developing wireless products that solve those challenges. This dual radio NetWave® NW8 products are the result and solves that perimeter surveillance challenge,” Steve Clarke, ComNet Europe Managing Director. “One mission at ComNet has always been to demystify transmission, be it fiber optic or Ethernet. NetWave® from ComNet simplifies wireless and gives our customers another solution,” Clarke concluded. With the introduction of NetWave® wireless Ethernet products, ComNet has become a single-source solution offering transmission solutions over all media types. “Our goal has always been to be a one-stop resource for all our customers, offering transmission solutions over copper, optical fiber and now wireless,” said Skip Haight, ComNet VP of Marketing. “We believe having a one place to turn to for USA-made quality solutions as well as an exceptional level of support will be a huge benefit for anyone implementing a transmission network,” Haight continued.
