Barco, a provider of large video walls, introduces a new member in its innovative Barco UniSee LCD video wall range. Barco UniSee® 500, with a brightness level of 500 cd/m², brings all the advantages of the original Barco UniSee platform, plus some new features, to environments with controlled and reduced ambient lighting conditions. This includes meeting rooms, television studios, simulation systems and smaller control rooms. In this way, end-users can benefit from the unique Barco UniSee features and get even more value for their money. Avoiding information loss The launch of the award-winning Barco UniSee platform meant a landmark for LCD video walls The launch of the award-winning Barco UniSee platform meant a landmark for LCD video walls. Offering the world’s smallest optical seam, and almost eliminating the ‘black raster’ that traditionally interrupts the content shown on LCD video walls, Barco UniSee significantly reduces this disturbing impact on the viewing experience and avoids information loss. Furthermore, because the platform has been completely redesigned, it is also a huge step forward in terms of image quality, installation precision, serviceability and reliability. The new Barco UniSee 500 answers the market demand for an LCD video wall that excels in image quality, reliability and serviceability at a reduced brightness level and cost. This can be used in indoor environments that are mainly lit by artificial light, like office environments. For ergonomic reasons, the brightness levels of such video walls rarely exceed 400 cd/m² and don’t require the brightness levels of the original Barco UniSee solution. Controlled ambient lighting “End-users should be able to choose the right proposition, which is a combination of features, brightness and cost”, says Pietro Capretta, Product Manager LCD at Barco. “By offering Barco UniSee 500, we are now also optimally addressing the requirements of environments with controlled ambient lighting. This new solution complements our existing Barco UniSee video wall at 800 cd/m² that remains the recommended proposition for bright environments, for applications where viewers need to be attracted and/or impressed, but also in the case of large video walls that run 24/7 (as users benefit from extended lifetime).” This includes the UniSee Mount that automatically aligns the video wall and keeps it aligned over time All the other components and benefits of the original Barco UniSee platform are available in the new Barco UniSee 500. This includes the UniSee Mount that automatically aligns the video wall and keeps it aligned over time (using the power of gravity), provides the best image uniformity in the market, and uses the Sense X automatic colour and brightness calibration. Reduced power consumption What’s more, Barco UniSee 500 also includes some new features. Set-up and maintenance can now be performed faster and more easily using the upgraded UniSee Connect module. A wizard guides the user through the complete installation process and the individual panels are automatically recognized at the right position in the video wall. The new local dimming feature allows for higher contrast, lower radiated heat and reduced power consumption. Barco UniSee 500 can also benefit from the ecosystem partners that offer tailored components for the Barco UniSee platform. This includes touch overlays for increased interactivity, trim solutions for elegant integration in the environment, additional mounting structures to allow for free-standing set-ups, etc. There is even a specially designed curved mounting solution that makes it possible to have a concave curvature of your video wall for an increased ergonomic and immersive effect. Next to the premium Barco UniSee range, there is also the Barco OverView, consisting of the OverView LVD5521B and OverView KVD5521B, for entry level and mid-end applications.
Barco further optimizes the visual experience of super-narrow bezel tiled LCD video walls with OverView HVD552 Barco, a global provider of professional visualization and networking solutions, announces a new product in its super-narrow bezel LCD video wall portfolio. The OverView HVD5521 is Barco’s most advanced tiled LCD video wall to date, offering operators a stunning visual experience. Designed for use in control rooms, the HVD features some unique innovations that boost reliability, lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and minimize maintenance needs. Barco’s family of narrow-bezel LCD video walls couple the traditional advantages of tiled LCD video walls – excellent image quality, minimum space requirement, and an advantageous price setting – with innovations to ensure availability and optimize TCO. The new OverView HVD5521 now joins this portfolio, with a screen diagonal of 55” and a brightness of 700 cd/m². It’s extremely narrow total bezel width of only 1.8 mm (measured between screens) enhances the visual consistency of the video wall, making it better suited for content that spans multiple displays. Tailored For Use In Critical Environments Because control rooms are highly critical environments, uptime of all components needs to be assured. This means that not only must component failure be avoided, but also that maintenance time must be kept to a minimum. To counter the classic problem with color and brightness level shifts in LCD video walls, Barco developed the unique Sense X automatic color and brightness calibration system based on integrated color sensors. This technology automatically balances the video wall at all times, eliminating the need for expensive and time-consuming manual calibration. This not only optimizes uptime, but also contributes to the wall’s low TCO. "We are very proud of this product, which demonstrates our continued commitment and investment in the tiled LCD video wall market" Furthermore, the optional redundant external power supply automatically switches to a new unit if one should fail, eliminating downtime due to power supply failure. And because the power supply is located remotely, its maintenance can be performed without disturbing operations. Plus, any staff member (not only certified technicians) can replace a defective power supply unit − so this system also reduces labor cost. Stunning Visual Experience “The trend in the LCD video wall market is toward the narrowest bezel possible,” says Pietro Capretta, Product Manager at Barco. “And the OverView HVD accelerates this trend. We are very proud of this product, which demonstrates our continued commitment and investment in the tiled LCD video wall market. In addition to the near-seamless canvas, the great colours and high brightness and reliability make this display stand out. It’s the perfect addition to our LCD video wall portfolio – and will further expand our footprint in this market.”
