IFSEC Global has announced that Microsoft CSO Mike Howard, security consultant Don Randall MBE and Baroness Neville-Jones, chair of the British Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC), star on a 30-strong judging panel for its ‘Top influencers in Security and Fire 2018.’ Lead judge Grant Lecky, co-founder of the Security Partners Forum, drew on his extensive contacts network to appoint a diverse line-up of judges. He said: “Many of these judges were appointed based on strong recommendations and all are award winners themselves – often multiple times. They could hardly be better positioned to identify the next generation of influencers coming through.” Acknowleding Security Professionals “Several have even appeared among IFSEC’s influencers in previous years. Though being a judge bars them from appearing this time round, they’re all only too happy to ‘send the elevator back down’ to other professionals doing great things in the fire and security industries.”, he added. Lecky himself featured in IFSEC Global’s list of top influencers in 2014 and 2017. In the last year alone, he has won five prestigious accolades, including a spot on the Canadian Who’s Who and an Outstanding Achievement in Global Cybersecurity (OAGCS) Award from the Ontario College of Management and Technology. David will help to establish CSSC within the community & oversee the implementation of the initiative The Cross-Sector Safety and Security Communications (CSSC) initiative – a partnership between law enforcement agencies, local and national government organizations and private sector businesses that operates under charitable status - is pleased to announce the appointment of David Ward, Managing Director of Ward Security to the position of Chair of the Southern region. The newly created CSSC Southern Region will cover Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. CSSC Aims To Help Businesses Remain Safe Operating across a wide range of sectors, CSSC aims to help businesses remain safe and secure by providing information that will assist them to develop robust resilience and emergency preparedness plans. This is achieved by delivering accurate, timely and authoritative messaging and information on an on-going basis and in times of major incidents. In 2013 CSSC received the Best Contribution to Continuity & Resilience award at the CIR Business Continuity Awards 2013. “We are delighted to have David Ward on board as Chair of the newly formed Southern Region,” explains Don Randall MBE, the Chair of CSSC. “His vast experience and deep understanding of the need for effective security across both business and public sectors will be a huge benefit in helping to further establish CSSC within the community and oversee the implementation of the initiative.” Logical Next Step In The Further Expansion Of The Scheme “The original success of CSSC in London and Scotland proved the concept could be highly effective and the subsequent expansion into East Anglia illustrated how, with the right people in place, the initiative can be applied to different areas with great effect. The setting up of a Southern Region is the logical next step in the further expansion of the scheme and we are looking into setting up other regional schemes.” David Ward added, “The CSSC initiative is a crucially important way of bringing together stakeholders to maximum effect and I have been very impressed by the results of the London, East and Scottish schemes. As well as delivering a truly holistic security intelligence, communications and response infrastructure, CSSC succeeds in delivering the all-important feeling of ‘security’ within the community, which cannot be understated”. “I look forward to working with partners and stakeholders and helping to ensure that CSSC is as effective within the Southern region.”

I will be drawing on my experience in several areas, including economic crime/fraud, counter terrorism and a broad breadth of security knowledge at senior management level. To date, I’ve pioneered various public/private sector initiatives, including Project Griffin and Cross Sector Safety & Security Communications (CSSC) and will also bring international reach from my experience in law enforcement at JPMorgan and, latterly, through my understanding of cyber crime. I’ll be helping to develop in-house abilities as well as the use of affiliations and will also be advising on key issues relating to the current international threat of terrorist activity, cyber-related issues and balancing the need for greater private security as a consequence of austerity measures facing policing in this country. From a local, national and international perspective, I will use my experience to further increase Pilgrims reach. One of Pilgrims core strengths is its skill in protecting business overseas to counter the terrorist threat.” He continues: “I’ve always seen Pilgrims as a company of high integrity and quality with a superb work ethic.. The fact that the former UN security head, Sir David Veness, joined them in April last year was a huge endorsement of their reputation and outstanding track record. I am very pleased to be working with them. Whilst they have a strong reputation in the industry, they are not widely known and I’d like Pilgrims end users to be fully aware of what the company can actually do for them and how they carry out their roles. I want to emphasize their high standard of professionalism and the fact that in locations like Africa, Afghanistan, the Middle East and elsewhere the company has immense local and international reach and expertise.” Pilgrims Managing Director, Bill Freear, says: “We are delighted that Don is joining us.
