IDEMIA Secure Transactions, Tele2 IoT, and Cisco have launched one of the first commercially available end-to-end Internet of Things (IoT) solutions using the GSMA SGP.32 eSIM standard.
This announcement was made at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
The collaborative solution enables companies to securely manage and provision IoT devices globally from a unified platform and a single eSIM stock-keeping unit.
Revolutionizing IoT Deployment
Historically, deploying IoT devices across different countries presented logistical challenges and high operating costs, as varied physical SIMs were necessary for different regions. The partnership among Tele2 IoT, IDEMIA Secure Transactions, and Cisco has effectively addressed these issues.
Their comprehensive solution allows organizations to securely connect and manage devices anywhere in the world from a single platform and eSIM SKU.
Comprehensive Solution Components
The solution integrates IDEMIA Secure Transactions' GSMA-certified SGP.32 eSIM ecosystem, which supports remote activation and updates. Additionally, Cisco's Mobility Services Platform—featuring the IoT Control Center for connectivity management with SGP.32 orchestration capabilities—along with Tele2 IoT's global connectivity, ensures reliable networks, remote eSIM profile switching, and dedicated global customer support.
Streamlining IoT Management
Tele2 IoT and IDEMIA cut deployment from months to minutesBy removing the need for local sourcing, manual provisioning, and physical SIM swaps, this end-to-end solution simplifies scaling for global IoT implementations.
Tele2 IoT and IDEMIA Secure Transactions facilitate local network onboarding and help ensure compliance with regulations in restricted markets, substantially reducing deployment times from months to mere minutes.
Expert Perspectives
"Tele2 IoT's mission is to ensure IoT works flawlessly for businesses, no matter the country, complexity, or scale. We are proud to launch a simple, scalable solution that cuts time to market to a fraction of what it once was. To utilize the full benefits of the SGP.32 specification, our customers don't need to make complex eIMs or SMDP+ decisions, they can rely on Tele2 IoT's global connectivity with IDEMIA's eSIM ecosystem and Cisco's management platform. It is ideal for customers in industries with global connectivity needs, such as automotive," said Onur Kasaba, Managing Director of Tele2 IoT.
Fabien Jautard, EVP Connectivity Services of IDEMIA Secure Transactions, commented, "The commercial launch of this end-to-end SGP.32 solution marks a major milestone for the IoT industry. At IDEMIA Secure Transactions, we bring the secure eSIM ecosystem that makes large-scale remote provisioning possible and compliant worldwide. Together with Tele2 IoT and Cisco, we are turning the SGP.32 specification into a fully operational reality for global IoT and enterprises around the world."
Masum Mir, SVP and GM, Cisco Provider Mobility, added, "Our partnership with Tele2 IoT is designed to unlock innovation. In providing a platform that removes some of the biggest challenges to IoT innovation, we can create new, monetizable services that push the IoT industry forward. Our work leverages advanced IoT and mobility technologies to help Tele2 IoT accelerate revenue growth and transform their service offerings as we march towards the physical AI era."
