MoU to serve as a foundation for developing staff in areas of security both on local & international levels

The International Professional Security Association (IPSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai Police Academy about cooperation with and support for the International Centre for Security and Safety (ICSS) which is part of the Academy.

Major General Dr Mohammad Ahmed Bin Fahad, the Dubai Police Assistant Commander for Academic Affairs & Training, and Mr Mike White, Chairman of IPSA signed the agreement at Haberdashers' Hall in London during a celebration hosted by City and Guilds to celebrate 40,000 candidates achieving C&G qualifications at ICSS.

Foundation Of Cooperation & Communication

The MoU has been put in place as a foundation for cooperation and communication between the two bodies with the aim of developing and refining the expertise of staff in the areas of security, both on local and international levels, and raising the standards of the security profession through training and education. Additionally the agreement makes provision for support and consulting in the area of security, the recognition of the quality training program, and opportunities for organizing learning and development opportunities such as events, exhibitions and further security courses.

Maj. Gen. Dr. Mohammad A. Bin Fahad said “The activation of international partnerships with prestigious security institutions to implement professional programs, is a directive of His Excellency Major General Khamis Mattar, the Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, and provides an academic contribution to the continued hard work and the quest to improve security work to global levels, to keep pace with the comprehensive cultural renaissance that is taking place in the state at all levels, in order to establish security and stability and trust in the community of the United Arab Emirates, and in order to achieve the objectives of the overall strategy for Dubai Police of the Ministry of the Interior.” Mr Justin Bentley, Chief Executive Officer of IPSA, welcomed the MoU saying “We are always seeking opportunities to contribute to professionalism in the security industry, and put our full support behind the work being done by the ICSS in Dubai. We look forward to working with them on providing opportunities for their students to increase their knowledge of best practice in the security industry.”

Further Professionalism In Security

Mr Michael White, Chairman of IPSA, commented “This is a significant moment for IPSA. We are very proud to be associated with the Dubai Police Academy and to have the opportunity to build on the outstanding results achieved by City and Guilds and to be able to work with our new partners to further professionalism in security.”
