Soliton Systems has been named as the winner of the Airbus Critical Apps Challenge Belgium at the recent Astrid event in Brussels. With their new Zao Android App, Soliton has developed an encrypted live streaming video app that can operate on the new Airbus Tactilon Dabat device. Airbus is a pioneer in aeronautics, space and related services with their Defense and Space group as innovators in providing secure communication devices for government agencies that include emergency services. The Tactilon Dabat device is the latest innovation for emergency services in that it combines a traditional TETRA radio used by emergency services, with a ruggedised smartphone that can use 4G for a variety of related data-enabled applications. We had a very large response to the competition with a shortlist of 5 that were selected to exhibit at the recent Astrid event in Brussels. The final winner was selected by the end user attendees at the show voting on their favorite app. We were delighted to announce Soliton as the winner with their encrypted live streaming app.” The 7th edition of the ASTRID User Days, held in Brussels on 3 and 4 October 2018, was a seminar and exhibition for public safety and security agencies with over 1500 people attending. ASTRID manages the voice and data communication network for all emergency and security services in Belgium. The Zao Android App was developed by Soliton Systems to enable high quality and reliable encrypted live video streaming from both the integrated cameras on Tactilon Dabat device, even when there is low signal strength or congestion caused by many users. ZAO-S is a miniature entry level device that provides H.265 HEVC encoding direct from the camera Soliton Systems, a Japanese technology company specializing in mobile video encoding and IT security, were the first to market with an H.265 mobile encoder in 2015 with the ZAO product, which has been used extensively in public safety, broadcast, and video surveillance applications throughout the world. It is a mobile device that provides live video streaming in high resolution HD over the 3G or 4G mobile network. The ZAO is a mobile unit that can be easily installed in video surveillance vehicles. There will be no compromise on picture quality or reliability with ZAO-S. In such a competitive and cost sensitive market, we know Soliton is the first to market with such a small H.265 device, but given the sensitivity to production costs, the price will also be extremely compelling.” RASCOW Bonding ProtocolThe ZAO-S product will continue to use the RASCOW bonding protocol that allows the aggregation of multiple mobile phone carriers to add to the reliability of the solution. This is a real-time algorithm that combines multiple telecom carriers together and adjusts the video streaming through each carrier simultaneously, depending on each of the signal strengths, in real-time. This is ideal for moving vehicles and helicopters that move through different terrains with ever changing signal strengths, giving an extra layer of reliability, encryption, and picture quality.The ZAO-S was launched on the 8th of September at IBC 2016.
