The SOSEC range meets the challenges of combining security with mobility, solar power, durability, and flexibility The future looks bright for Maidstone-based Green Gate Access Systems as the company powers up to meet significant demand for its SOSEC solar powered range of products launched last autumn. This revolutionary new approach to securing worksites has proved a hit with new and existing clients, including Keir Living and Taylor Wimpey, who have rolled the system out to 40 UK sites to date, and concrete product supplier, TARMAC who are planning a UK wide roll out this year. Growth Potential Its adaptability has attracted interest from other sectors—with the highways market seen as having great growth potential. In readiness, Green Gate Access Systems and Kent based Highways Care have adapted the product for road and highways projects. The success to date has put the company back on the front foot after a year in which its offices in Bircholt Road, Maidstone suffered hundreds of thousands of pounds of damage following a fire at a neighboring part of the site. The company is set to move to bigger premises nearby next month. This new start for the company—in a unit six times the size of their existing base—will help support future expansion with more space for production and storage, plus new training facilities and a product showroom. SOSEC Solar Powered Range Neil Sampson, Managing Director, Green Gate Access Systems, said: “We have been delighted with the reception so far to the SOSEC concept – but believe there is so much more potential.” “We have been delighted with the reception so far to the SOSEC concept—but believe there is so much more potential” “Our belief from the start has been that the SOSEC mobile temporary security technology has the potential to be a game changer, and from the interest received it’s clear that the demands is there.” “2016 was our 10th year in business, a cause for celebration tempered by the fire which risked destroying everything we had built up. When things like this happen, you have to dig deep and get on with it and I was lucky to have a fantastic team in place to do just that. As it turned out, we enjoyed our most successful year to date and with our new offices and the successful launch of the SOSEC range of products the future is looking good, allowing us to plan for future expansion.” Public Safety And Work Site Security Green Gate Access Systems developed the SOSEC concept to answer a growing need to provide public safety and work site security where power provision is not practical, but security demands are high. The product meets the challenges of combining security with mobility, solar power, durability and flexibility, brought together in a single easy to deliver platform that can be adapted to suit work site demands. SOSEC’s solar power and power storage ability are unique, and allow the product to be used up to 900 times a day, all year round, even through a British winter. It can also be delivered as a battery only version for up to one month’s use in very temporary sites.

Effective Public Demarcation Solution Major tourist attraction Leeds Castle in Kent also chose SOSEC when they needed to quickly replace a 15-year-old security barrier that had failed The gate is already attracting interest from clients including Kier Living, who trialled SOSEC on their Berryfields site near Aylesbury before rolling it out to 22 further UK sites. Major tourist attraction Leeds Castle in Kent also chose SOSEC when they needed to quickly replace a 15-year-old security barrier that had failed. Rob Crossland, regional director of Kier Living said, “Providing effective public demarcation on our sites is a big problem and our duty of care and relationship with the Health & Safety Executive meant we were committed to solving it.” “We had tried a ‘shut the gate’ campaign for a year, with virtually no effect. I loved the idea of solar powered barriers and knew they worked. What I couldn’t find was anyone who had made the concept mobile, yet rugged and suitable for pedestrians and vehicles. The team at Green Gate Access Systems were clearly experts in their field. They not only got the idea, they got fully behind it and within weeks, we were looking at CAD drawings and our SOSEC barrier gate was well on the way to reality!”, explains Rob Crossland, regional director for Kier Living. The association gates are safe, force tested and are going to be quarterly serviced and managed for breakdowns and repairs Green Gate Access Systems have been appointed by Estuary Housing Association to manage the safety and maintenance of their automated gates. The not-for-profit organization provides affordable housing and services to residents across the South East of England and currently owns and manages more than 4000 properties. At the forefront of gate safety, Estuary Housing Association has made gate safety and maintenance a priority. Despite only seven developments currently benefiting from automated security gates, every future development they commission will have them. Doors Meet Safety Requirements Following a number of well documented accidents relating to automated gates over the past few years, landlords and managing agents must now ensure that gates, barriers and doors meet with the essential health and safety requirements and supply of machinery safety regulations, with all gates declared safe, well-maintained and force-tested, with an up to date technical file and declaration of CE conformity. “When the safety of residents, families and children is at stake, often gates play a massive part in ensuring premises are secure. What a terrible irony therefore, that in the region of two thirds of all automated gates in the UK, pose a massive risk to the people they are there to protect.” said Neil Sampson, Managing Director of Green Gate Access Systems. Qualified Service Engineers “As a DHF safety assured company, all our service engineers have passed their safety training and are fully qualified in risk assessing gates for all of our clients. At Estuary Housing Association, all gates at their sites are safe, force tested and they can rest assured that they are going to be quarterly serviced and managed for breakdowns and repairs.” “We appointed Green Gate Access Systems in June of this year, to undertake the risk assessments, repairs and service for our automated gates.” said Andrew Holley of Estuary Housing Association. “The biggest issue with automated doors and gates – as we know – is that a few years ago, people got hurt by them. We are very keen that the safety systems work as well as they possibly can and Neil and the Green Gate team are on board to ensure this is so. We are extremely happy with the service they have provided so far and look forward to a long and lasting relationship with Green Gate Access Systems.”
The commercial gates are available up to 2 metres high and 10 metres wide Kent based company Green Gate Access Systems, has announced that it has been chosen as the exclusive distributor for SMOES vertically lifting gates in the Eastern part of the UK. Managing Director, Neil Sampson, returned just last week from Italy, where he visited SMOES Director, Loris Gentili and SMOES Sales Director, Nicole Corine Pettermand, to rubberstamp the exciting collaboration. The unique Avant gate product range from SMOES comprise vertically lifting gates that can be installed in locations not suitable for a standard gate, such as small spaces, sloping roadways, areas with no roll back space for a slider and car-parks where access is tight. The commercial gates are available up to 2 metres high and 10 metres wide, with the domestic range, up to 1.8 metres high and 6 metres wide. Built to an extremely high standard and supplied with an EN 13241-1 certification, the gates are well finished and most importantly, safe. With all versions available in a wide range of finishes, from a plain security gate to an arch topped ornamental or even wood effect, and a comprehensive range of colours provided as standard, Neil Sampson is confident they are the future of the industry. The unique Avant gate product range from SMOES comprise vertically lifting gates that can be installed in locations not suitable for a standard gate “The SMOES range is fantastic and we are delighted to be introducing this to the UK market. The opportunities are almost endless and this product has an exciting path ahead.” says Neil. “Basically there is nothing like this currently available. The fact that they lift, means they can be installed in locations where a normal gate just won’t function. For areas where a security gate is required but the ground is sloping, space is tight or there is no room off to the sides, so you cannot swing or slide a normal gate, this is the perfect solution. The other important factor with this range is that the gates arrive pre-assembled, so installation is always within one day! This is a product that once seen, will start to roll out as rapidly in the UK as it has done in Italy and Germany already. It is a unique solution to a common problem and you need to see it to believe it. It really is that good.” “We welcome Green Gate Access Systems to our exclusive list of European installers and suppliers.” says Nicole Corine Pettermand. “We are adamant that those representing our product and service demonstrate the ability to both install our equipment efficiently and undertake the SMOES codes of practice with regards to safety and security. Neil and his company more than satisfy this criterion and we are delighted to have them on board.” The first UK launch will take place at FENCEX 2014, on 15th October.
Green Gate Access Systems installed the solar powered double gate automation with 6 way GSM intercom, key code and daily open timer Kent based company, Green Gate Access Systems, has finalized the installation of a solar powered double gate automation project at waste management solutions company, Agrivert. As the newest tenant in their Surrey based industrial plant, Agrivert have a specific need to access the site out of hours, when the gates are locked for security purposes; and with a number of different contractors visiting the site overnight, the ability to operate the gates and provide an intercom system to a remote out of hours ‘phone, was required. “The solar powered double gate automation with 6 way GSM intercom, key code and daily open timer gives an overall 14 meter automated entrance. Self-locking, the gates have an extra solenoid lock to hold them in the ‘close’ position and are fitted to the very latest safety standards with the use of resistive safety edges and infra-red beams.” explains Green Gate Access Systems’ Managing Director, Neil Sampson. “The gates have also been subjected to a full force test as specified by BS EN 12445. With solar panels designed to operate the gates up to 100 times per day (even mid-winter), the solar, combined with the GSM intercom allows the gate automation full capability of operating at this busy, high-security site without any power. As the nearest power supply is over 400metres away, this provides the most cost effective solution for everyone concerned.” Agrivert converts food waste from London restaurants and businesses in an anaerobic digester, which is converted into methane and then electricity. The surrey plant has the capacity to process in the region of 45,000 tonnes of organic waste each year and generate 2.4 megawatts of electricity – enough to supply more than 4,500 homes. “We are delighted with the new access and security system put in place by Green Gate Access Systems.” says Operations Manager at Agrivert, Charlie Berridge. “From start to finish, the entire collaboration took just under two weeks, in which time, there were a great many ‘out of hours’ calls with Neil! I would thoroughly recommend his expertise to others.”
