AMG Systems’ ruggedized Ethernet switches have helped to provide a state of the art IP CCTV system for two campuses of St. Christopher’s School, the leading British curriculum school in Bahrain. St. Christopher’s is a private school offering British curriculum education. It provides primary through to secondary classes, all the way through from reception to Sixth Form. Students are able to sit British GCSE and A-level examinations. In 2006, the UK’s Guardian newspaper included St. Christopher’s among the top eight British curriculum schools internationally. The school’s principal, Ed Goodwin, received an OBE in 2013 for his contribution to British education in the Middle East. Ruggedized Ethernet Switches Arencon Security undertook the security system upgrade for the school’s Saar and Isa Town campuses, with the main objective being to monitor the entrances and perimeter of each site. AMG Systems provided the ruggedised Ethernet switches which transmit images from the cameras to the digital recorder. Arencon Security is a Bahrain-based installation company which provides CCTV, access control, alarm, and perimeter security systems. Arencon General Manager Richard Monkhouse, whose children attend St. Christopher’s, said the new system improves the safety of the premises for both staff and students. “The systems supplement the manned guard force and the centralized monitoring improves their ability to respond swiftly to any suspicious activity, as well as providing recorded evidence to aid any subsequent investigation,” he said. AMG Systems is the UK manufacturer of intelligent, industrial grade, reliable edge-of-network transmission solutions. International Business Development Manager, Leona Hayes, said: “Safeguarding students and staff is of paramount importance for any school, and AMG is proud to be playing its part for this prestigious British curriculum school in Bahrain.”
The project is using AMG 9000 Ethernet and AMG4700 hybrid analog and Ethernet series AMG, the British manufacturer of CCTV transmission solutions and sophisticated 5 Megapixel cameras, has been commissioned to establish a pilot smart city center surveillance solution in Beirut City Center, Lebanon, working with systems integrator Site Technology S.A.L. The ongoing project originally began with the installation of 13 ANPR cameras being transmitted over a hybrid Analog and Ethernet fiber optic backbone and covering a small area in the very center of Beirut. With the success of the initial pilot installation, Site Technology is highly optimistic with regards to the second phase of the project, which is currently awaiting final budget approval. Marwan Abdallah, General Manager at Site Technology S.A.L., says, “So far, the project has been a resounding success, with the AMG equipment being very efficient in terms of both cost and energy consumption. The AMG transmission equipment was very easy to install and use. We are currently optimistically awaiting budget allowances from the City Authorities, and we are hoping to expand the project to include around 300 ANPR cameras throughout the entire City Center. As the project currently stands, there are 13 ANPR cameras installed within the pilot area, all of which are IP-based. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with the project so far. So much so that we are eager to expand our sales volume in the region, and we are confident that AMG’s transmission technology will play a key role in this expansion.” AMG’s Business Development Manager for the Middle East, Leona Hayes said “The Project in Beirut City Center is using the AMG 9000 Ethernet and AMG4700 hybrid Analog and Ethernet series. This solution provides transmission over Fiber with multiple channels, and associated Ethernet with low speed data and audio signals. It has been particularly delightful to work with Site Technology in the City that was known as ‘the Paris of the Middle East’. We are hopeful that the full project will go ahead soon, so further increase security in Beirut’s inner city traffic management.”
Kharafi National chose AMG4700 transmission solution for Kuwait University’s integrated solution AMG Systems, the British manufacturer of CCTV transmission technology and sophisticated Megapixel cameras, and systems integration partner, Kharafi National, have co-operated on a project which secures Kuwait University (KU). With 16 Colleges including the Department of Architecture, a Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum, and the Design Department at the College for Women, the university is so large that it is located in its own massive compound named ‘City of Sabah Al-Salem University’ in honor of the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. Leona Hayes, AMG’s Business Development Manager for the Middle East, says, “Kharafi chose our AMG4700 transmission solution for the integrated solution for Kuwait University. The AMG solution transmits signals from around 360 cameras and the Access Control system - as well as other facilities - also transmitted on the backbone. The project is unusual in the sense that it requires all CCTV camera signals to be received at multiple, redundant Control Rooms. AMG’s innovative ‘add, drop and pass’ facility on the 4700 series allows signals to be dropped off at multiple locations without duplicating transmitters. This sophisticated and unique approach significantly reduces hardware and infrastructure costs.” Tarek Tahboub, Sales Executive, Facilities Technology Unit at Kharafi National, commented, “AMG Systems’ transmission solution was chosen for this comprehensive project not only because the AMG4700 series met our requirements. Equally important is the fact that a lot of flexibility was demonstrated by AMG in meeting our requirements and their willingness to understand the constraints under which we were working. At every stage, the AMG team took the time to understand the changing demands of the project and responded in an effective and professional manner. It is for these reasons that AMG is the partner of 1st Choice for Kharafi National.” Kuwait University is the first public research university in the State of Kuwait and was established in 1966. Its vision is to provide world-class education, and the University is committed to advancing, preserving, and disseminating knowledge, in addition to preparing educated, enlightened and qualified human resources in order to realize the society developmental needs. The institutional mission is to keep, develop, and disseminate human knowledge, in addition to developing national human resources in order to create leaders who are aware of national heritage and future needs in collaboration with other academic institutions of similar mission, through: Strengthening national, Arabic, and Islamic values and principles. Disseminating knowledge. Developing and investing human resources. Achieving excellence and distinction in education, scientific research, and community services. Utilising modern technology. KU has witnessed a significant expansion in the number of scientific colleges that reached 16. Several KU colleges have received academic accreditation as they offer wide ranging programs in sciences and humanities at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
