MOBOTIX technology partner, TecTradeSolution GmbH has developed a solution based on MOBOTIX thermal camera that detects abnormalities in body temperature regardless of the ambient temperature, wind or other environmental influences. Temperature detection The technology has already been successfully used since 2016 to detect temperature abnormalities in chemical reactors in outdoor areas. “With the modification, it is now possible to detect body temperature abnormalities more reliably. These persons can then be immediately separated from other persons and can be subjected to specific health examinations," explains Hartmut Sprave, CTO of MOBOTIX AG. MOBOTIX Thermal Radiometry cameras MOBOTIX Thermal Radiometry cameras automatically alarm when the temperature exceeds or falls below defined limits The MOBOTIX Thermal Radiometry (TR) cameras automatically alarm when the temperature exceeds or falls below defined limits. MOBOTIX has combined thermal and optical sensor technology to automatically detect objects and people even in complete darkness, over hundreds of meters and without additional lighting. MOBOTIX thermal systems can visualize even the smallest temperature differences starting at 0.1 degrees Celsius. Thermal imaging technology "In combination with the solution from our Technology Partner, TecTradeSolution GmbH, deviations in skin surface temperature can now be detected regardless of environmental influences. This is a possibility that provides improved protection, especially at the moment, and once again confirms our model of technology partnerships," stated Christian Heller, Sales Director DACH at MOBOTIX AG. Christian adds, "Thermal technology from MOBOTIX does not replace medical devices, but can be a valuable assistant when it comes to detecting temperature differences.”
Every day, the 13 hagebaumarkt stores serve thousands of customers and process tens of thousands of products. The Schneider Group, based in Grabenstätt/Erlstätt, has the mammoth task of providing security for its customers and employees as well as monitoring and protecting its DIY stores against theft on a daily basis. It was therefore a top priority that the Group update its security and surveillance system as part of its digitalisation strategy. "Introducing digital solutions into our locations is one of our biggest challenges," explains Martin Wohlmayer, Head of IT and Organization at Jos. Schneider GmbH. Security and monitoring system "We're well on our way to bringing our retail and wholesale stores into a digitalized future, focusing exclusively on reliable, future-proof solutions that are cyber-safe and 100% GDPR-compliant," says Wohlmayer. This was the starting point going into initial consultations with IT service provider CN H&D GmbH, in which they discussed a new security and monitoring system for hagebaumarkt stores. It became clear that the existing system would need to be replaced with a solution that included MOBOTIX cameras It quickly became clear that the existing system would need to be replaced with a solution that included MOBOTIX cameras. "We were completely won over by the 'Made in Germany' MOBOTIX cameras and solutions. This was thanks to their decentralized solution, the outstanding quality of both the hardware and software, the flexibility of the system, their compliance with the GDPR and the high level of cybersecurity," says Wohlmayer. Secure outdoor facilities "Our forward-looking approach involves checking all our current investments to see whether the new systems are flexible, open, expandable and secure with regard to future challenges. It quickly became clear that a MOBOTIX system would be the best way to meet our requirements," explains Matthias Ziegleder, Managing Director of CN H&D GmbH. The focus of the ongoing project in Traunstein is on installing MOBOTIX systems in the ninth hagebaumarkt store in the Schneider Group. There are currently 134 MOBOTIX cameras already in use, all of which are integrated into the MxManagementCenter. A total of 19 MOBOTIX cameras have been installed in Traunstein, as well as the MxThinClient for communicating with customers. This system has been connected to the central MxManagementCenter. Nine cameras have been installed to monitor and secure outdoor facilities, including parking lots. Specialized outdoor cameras The specialized outdoor cameras provide crystal clear images day or night throughout the year These specialized outdoor cameras provide crystal clear images day or night throughout the year, meaning that any incidents in the hagebaumarkt parking lots can easily be traced. Inside the store, ten MOBOTIX cameras monitor the sales floor. This helps determine the cause of any discrepancies in stock levels, which are usually due to theft. The MxManagementCenter (MxMC) is MOBOTIX's powerful, intuitive video management system for Windows and MacOS and is installed on a total of five computers in the store with different user profiles and access rights. The system is fully GDPR-compliant, with each user only having access to the video footage assigned to their profile. The data is remotely secured on the MOBOTIX cameras, providing highly effective protection against even the most complex and sophisticated cyber attacks. PoE-powered network device The MxThinClient completes the solution in the Schneider Group's hagebaumarkt stores. The PoE-powered network device is the intelligent, easy-to-use MOBOTIX solution for viewing the live feed from the cameras on a monitor or TV equipped with an HDMI port. This makes it possible to display content such as welcome messages, inform customers that surveillance equipment is being used in the store and show them the current products on offer in store. "We plan to equip the remaining four hagebaumarkt stores with the MOBOTIX solution and are working to develop and implement a mobile solution for targeted surveillance in known 'theft hotspots.' These cameras will be connected to their own company-wide MOBOTIX Wi-Fi network and can be moved at any time to monitor specific hotspots in the store," says Ziegleder, explaining the plans for the project. Interface to POS system "The support provided by CN H&D GmbH throughout the whole design and installation process, including follow-up support and training, has been excellent. The MOBOTIX system ensures security for us and our customers, and we'll gradually be starting to implement the other capabilities offered by the system. We've already set up the interface to the POS system," says Matthias Ziegleder. This means that any POS discrepancies can be prevented or immediately resolved in the hagebaumarkt store This means that any POS discrepancies can be prevented or immediately resolved in the hagebaumarkt store. A customer count and footfall analysis will also be integrated to further optimize customer service and customer satisfaction - not least through coordinated staff scheduling. At the beginning of 2017, MOBOTIX and RealNetworks established their strategic partnership. Almost everyone has known RealNetworks since the 1990s, when the Seattle-based company introduced the first online audio streaming solution, RealAudio®. Years of continuous innovation and multiple generations of RealVideo® then gave birth to the company’s most well-known product, RealPlayer®, which is still used millions of times every day for streaming and downloading videos. More recently, RealNetworks has been steadily expanded its expertise in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. “Our innovative strength, quality standards and commitment to high-quality, customer-oriented solutions form the basis of our strategic partnership with RealNetworks,” explains Thomas Lausten, CEO of MOBOTIX AG. Facial and mood recognition MOBOTIX and RealNetworks see enormous market potential for further joint projects and customized solutions SAFR™, the latest solution from RealNetworks, is an exceptionally accurate, artificial intelligence-based system for facial and mood recognition that has been optimized for the challenges of live video. MOBOTIX and RealNetworks see enormous market potential for further joint projects and customized solutions. “MOBOTIX cameras have an excellent market reputation for high quality, cyber security, reliability and direct applicability for facial recognition.” “Our partnership has grown rapidly as we also share the same values, such as a commitment to quality, innovation, data security and building strategic partnerships to generate synergies for both our companies and our customers,” says Mathias Grünwald, Senior Lead Account & Service Management at RealNetworks. “The new MOBOTIX is increasingly developing into a base platform for a multitude of industry specific tasks – Beyond Human Vision,” says Lausten. Identify cyber security Since joining the company, Lausten has transformed MOBOTIX from a highly secure but self-contained product provider into an open and flexible solution and system platform that continues to identify cyber security as its top priority. This means that all MOBOTIX products are now ONVIF-compliant, there is a dedicated NAS solution and, with the MOBOTIX MOVE series, a PTZ camera has been launched on the market as a complementary independent product line. “Artificial Intelligence will play an increasingly important role in all areas of IT, meaning video surveillance as well – and with Konica Minolta, we have a leading technology partner by our side in this area,” explains Christian Heller, MOBOTIX Sales Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “In conjunction with our new openness and our drive to produce cyber-safe products and solutions, we can work with our strategic partners like RealNetworks to strengthen the market and develop new solutions for a variety of vertical markets,” he adds. Video surveillance cameras SAFR facial recognition solutions based on MOBOTIX cameras are already being used in numerous vertical markets MOBOTIX's partnership with RealNetworks and SAFR demonstrates this in unique ways: “We are currently working together on an exciting project for a high-profile European museum,” says Lausten. The museum uses SAFR live analytics at the entrance and other locations within the museum to automatically count the number of people by time of day, using demographic breakdowns, such as gender and age. The same system can also analyze people’s moods. This solution is made possible by the combination of versatile, high-precision MOBOTIX cameras and the equally high-precision SAFR facial recognition platform. Together with our selected strategic partners, MOBOTIX is creating solutions based on artificial intelligence that make events predictable and that can initiate countermeasures to protect the environment, valuables and people,” emphasizes Lausten.
Things get hot when pots and pans are polished in the production process at Kuhn Rikon, the number one Swiss brand for crockery and kitchen aids. Dust explosions can easily occur if the temperature rises above a certain threshold, which in the worst-case scenario can lead to significant fire damage and production outages. Initiated by ITES GmbH, MOBOTIX and Hekatron Brandschutz teamed up in a joint project to deliver 360° protection against this risk for Kuhn Rikon. MOBOTIX thermal imaging cameras are connected to the fire alarm & extinguisher control center Integral IP by Hekatron Brandschutz. The cameras monitor the production process for critical temperatures and intervene autonomously in the production process. Not only does the system trigger an alarm in the case of possible overheating, it automatically stops the production machine and starts the extinguishing process where necessary. Requirement of reliable fire protection system In June 2015, overheated polishing plates caused a dust explosion at the Kuhn Rikon main facility in Rikon in the Töss Valley of Switzerland, precipitating a devastating fire that destroyed the production system and parts of the factory building. Together with the associated production outage, the total damages amounted to CHF 5.2 million (€4.6 million). The production outage alone cost the company CHF 1.4 million (€1.2 million). "Luckily no-one was hurt, but the incident made us drastically aware that we urgently require reliable protection of our production processes that exceed the scope of normal fire protection," explains Paul Brunschwiler, production technician at Kuhn Rikon AG. The M16 thermal cameras by MOBOTIX offer outstanding image resolution and enable precise monitoring of all danger zones M16 thermal cameras for precise monitoring Project manager Mathias Stauffacher provided the convincing proposal of connecting the thermal cameras M16 Thermal by MOBOTIX with a fire alarm & extinguishing control center by the firm Hekatron Brandschutz. The M16 thermal cameras by MOBOTIX offer outstanding image resolution and enable precise monitoring of all danger zones within the Kuhn Rikon production workflow. In addition, the software package for the IP cameras allows tailored programming to suit the needs of the Swiss company. "We programmed all three escalation levels exactly: A warning for critical temperatures, production stop when the threshold is exceeded, followed by immediate initiation of the extinguishing process after the production shutdown to prevent any spread of the fire," adds Stauffacher. Production process boosted by 5% Precise temperature measurement also allowed us to optimize our production process" "The compatibility with MOBOTIX and Hekatron Brandschutz, as well as the user-friendly and low-maintenance system, convinced us 100 percent. Continuous, precise temperature measurement also allowed us to optimize our production process to ensure that we always operate at the ideal temperature and largely prevent any production errors. Overall, we managed to optimize our production process by around 5 percent and in doing so, make the general working atmosphere more pleasant for our employees," reports Paul Brunschwiler. "ITES GmbH is an expert for innovative fire protection and safety technology: Our competency and experience enable us to develop and implement tailored, state-of-the-art solutions for our customers. Our holistic approach offers our customers crucial added functionality," says Alexander Iglhaut, ITES Director of Safety Technology. Smart hard and software solution "MOBOTIX and Hekatron Brandschutz have very similar DNA. Both our companies develop their technology and also manufacture their products in Germany. The clear focus on premium quality hardware, software and services is confirmed in the successful results of projects like this one," emphasizes Christian Heller, Sales Director DACH at MOBOTIX AG. "The Kuhn Rikon project highlights the importance of a smart hard and software solution for fire protection and production optimization. Our intelligent safety systems make major contributions in other sectors as well, among them waste management or the petroleum and gas industries," says Heller. The MOBOTIX thermal image camera is connected to the fire alarm and extinguishing control centre Integral IP, as well as the smart fire management system Fire protection for technical systems "The incident at Kuhn Rikon plainly shows that fire protection for technical systems is extremely important as a 'life-insurance policy' for the company. Here, protecting the employees and the company's output go hand in hand," stresses Daniel Triebswetter, specialist for extinguishing system control at Hekatron Brandschutz. "The solution for Kuhn Rikon catches the eye with its simple connection of the MOBOTIX thermal image camera to the fire alarm & extinguishing control center Integral IP, as well as the smart fire management system – from production stoppage to triggering the extinguishing system."
