Reliance High-Tech certified as BS 8484 compliant with regards to lone worker protection and security
The BS 8484 Code for the Provision of Lone Worker Device Services is driven by ACPO and the security industry
Reliance High-Tech's lone worker protection solution has been certified as BS 8484 compliant following stringent inspection. Evaluation of a wide-range of services and procedures has been completed ensuring Reliance Protect, an end-to-end lone worker protection, complies with all elements of BS 8484:2009.

The new and demanding BS 8484 Code of Practice for the Provision of Lone Worker Device Services has been driven by ACPO and the security industry to promote best practice for lone workers and to reduce the number of false alarms being received and responded to by the emergency services. The standards encompass both lone worker devices and alarm-receiving centres as well as calling for sound financial grounding, secure data protection, quality training and full audit capability from the supplier of a lone worker solution.

Reliance Protect is a lone worker security solution for those exposed to harassment, intimidation or violence in the course of their working day

Reliance Protect is a fully-managed lone worker protection solution for those potentially exposed to harassment, intimidation or violence in the course of their working day. Reliance Protect devices are worn about the person and located using a mobile network and/or GPS technology. The wearer is able to discreetly alert the Reliance Monitoring Centre to a threat with a single press of a button, ensuring no suspicion is raised.

By listening to and capturing everything that takes place during the incident, trained Reliance monitoring staff can respond appropriately, depending on the severity of the situation - including calling out the police, alerting colleagues/supervisors and archiving recordings as evidence for any legal action.  In addition to BS 8484 accreditation, the Reliance Monitoring Centre complies with the higher specification of BS 5979 Cat II as required by ACPO.

Terry Sallas, Managing Director, Reliance High-Tech said: "We are very pleased to gain BS 8484, which further demonstrates our capability as one of the most compliant and accredited remote monitoring centres in Europe. Reliance Protect is the preferred lone worker protection solution for the NHS and our framework agreement is available to all publicly-funded organizations for under £10 per month. We have seen demand increasing across both the public and private sector as organizations become more aware of the risk faced by lone workers and their need to assess technology to address their duty of care."
