Six projects are nominated for this prestigious award. Hikvision's entry is particularly notable for its large-scale high-definition surveillance and well-deployed system structure. Additionally, its high quality, along with smooth and steady performance, stood out at the Shanghai World Expo.
Over 7,000 Hikvision HD-fixed and PTZ cameras have been utilised to monitor Shanghai's Pudong District, the setting for World Expo 2010 - which attracted 100 million visitors from 190 countries. This project represents one of the world's largest deployments of a high-definition video surveillance system.
A specific challenge at the World Expo 2010 was for these cameras to give users the ability to track and zoom-in on individuals or vehicles, so that facial details and license plates could be observed. In response, Hikvision supplied HD cameras that met these requirements: delivering video with resolution of up to 1600x1200 pixels in real time. In addition, confronted on the ground with demands for image clarity, Hikvision used HD-SDI interface in preference to the regular CVBS approach, combined with optic fibre to ensure minimal delay.
"Since our Beijing Olympics project two years ago, this is the second time we have been short-listed for this IFSEC award. Along with these prestigious applications, our high performance products are currently being used - in a variety of applications - in more than 100 countries around the world," said Yangzhong Hu, president of Hikvision.
