For more than 35 years, Videx have manufactured door entry and access control solutions and have now launched their latest range of touch free entry panels and exit buttons as businesses return to work during the coronavirus pandemic. The range offers both exit buttons and entrance panels in a touch free format using infrared sensor technology, providing a no touch solution for companies as they focus on creating a COVID secure environment for their employees, partners and customers. Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, said: “As businesses return to normal, health and safety is the key priority. With our touch free entry panels, it means visitors can alert someone of their arrival without needing to press a button. The panels can also include proximity access control, allowing authorized personnel to enter the building touch free. Both surface and flush exit buttons are also available to allow users to exit without the need to press buttons.” Adjustable activation range The panels and buttons are compatible with a number of Videx systems including our IP system, two wire video kits and GSM kit. The panels and exit buttons, which are for internal use unless appropriately protected externally, boast several key features including adjustable activation range (3cm-15cm) and activation time (from 0.5 seconds to 20 seconds). All panels are IP55 rated and require a power input of 12Vdc. They can operate in a temperature change from -20 degrees to 75 degrees. Neil added: “The new touch free range can offer better protection against COVID-19 transmission and other viruses too that can spread from touching common use surfaces and devices. We can also provide fully customized options, offering bespoke entry panels and exit buttons that are in keeping with the surroundings of the building.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all industries in different ways. For healthcare and medical organizations, operational management approaches have changed right across the sector and not just on the clinical front. Videx, a manufacturer and supplier of access control and door entry systems, has seen a sharp rise in demand for IP based intercom systems. The contagiousness of the coronavirus coupled with the high volume of patients admitted to hospital with the disease has increased the need to secure specific wards and departments. Popular access control solutions At the same time, GP practices, pharmacies and other healthcare organizations have also had to look at their entry provision to minimize the risk of the virus spreading. Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx UK, said: “IP based intercoms are hugely popular access control solutions generally due to the flexibility and ease of installation IP provides.” The Videx IP kit for example comes as an expandable system with multiple entrance and call points" “The Videx IP kit for example comes as an expandable system with multiple entrance and call points that can be customized to suit the needs of any building whether that’s an A and E department, an outpatient unit or medical center that’s home to several GP practices.” Dedicated wiring infrastructure “The huge benefit of IP technology is that it doesn’t require dedicated wiring infrastructure and can be used on existing networks. These networks can be shared with other technologies such as CCTV, building management and many others.” “We’ve seen a rise in enquiries and orders placed for our IP intercoms because of the urgent need to secure sensitive and specific areas in buildings such as hospitals, pharmacies and GP surgeries. For instance, in hospitals where there are dedicated COVID-19 wards access to such wards require maximum security but, at the same time, authorized entry convenience and ease and this is exactly what our IP system provides.” Flush mounting options An event call log can be viewed on the videophone with a video capture feature to see missed callers There is also a heightened need for controlling access to the general public. As a result, demand in the Videx IP range has grown, especially for one-way, single button entry units where a member of staff can grant access from their desk via videophone. The Videx IP kit includes a wall mount 6200 series videophone and the entrance panel which is available in standard or vandal resistant form with surface or flush mounting options. The videophone includes a touch screen 3.5” color display enabling the end user to customize a range of settings as well as initiate calls to entrance points, neighboring buildings and internally to other extensions with the facility to have up to 16 videophones in each building. The videophones can also intercommunicate and cascade calls to other locations if they are not answered. What’s more, an event call log can be viewed on the videophone with a video capture feature to see missed callers.
Globally renowned access control and door entry systems provider, Videx has introduced a new range of its 4000 series keypads that offer improved features and enhanced functionality. New range of 4000 series keypads The new range includes three new models that replace the existing keypads and now feature a new adjustable backlit keypad that’s available in a new matt finish 316 Marine grade stainless steel (Suffix /M) or mirror finish stainless steel. The new 4000 series keypad range provides great flexibility, features and convenience to users" Neil Thomas National Sales Manager at Videx said, “The new 4000 series keypad range provides great flexibility, features and convenience to users. Each of them have a backlight that can be adjusted to the brightness users need whether that’s full brightness all the time, full brightness only when in use, low light level or no light at all. The back light level can be set for both standby and during operation. The new keypads also carry an impact rating of IK07 and an IP rating of IP6X.” GSMPRO range of intercom systems The three new keypads are the 4901, a direct replacement for the 4800, the 4902, which replaces the 4900 but with the added benefit of up to 1000 codes, and the 4903, a brand new keypad that’s been specifically designed for the GSMPRO range of intercom systems. The 4901 includes three relays, each with one access code, two push to exit button inputs and can be powered from either 12VAC/DC or 24VAC/DC. The 4902 includes two relays and 1000 access codes while up to 400 access codes can be stored in the 4903 plus an additional 32 temporary access codes that can be programmed for duration of 1 - 255 hours before expiring automatically. Remote programming functionality The 4903 can also be programmed remotely via SMS and the GSM app. Additionally, the 4903 also includes the same programming menu as the 4800 for backward compatibility. All codes can be 4 – 8 digits in length and programmed to operate a relay from 1 – 99 seconds or used to latch and unlatch a relay.
Videx, a manufacturer and supplier in access control and door entry systems, improves its flagship VX2200 door entry system, by introducing a lift interface module which enables lift control via the entry intercom within an apartment or office. The 2216 is the latest accessory for the VX2200 system, a two-wire audio and six wire video system for up to 998 apartments with multiple entrances and full concierge facilities. Door entry system The 2216 makes the VX2200 an even more ideal door entry system for a wide range of buildings" Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx UK, said: “The 2216 makes the VX2200 an even more ideal door entry system for a wide range of buildings, from residential flats to commercial offices, by enabling occupants to control the lift from their office or home.” “When entry is granted, the lift can be called and access to floors can be restricted accordingly so the visitor can only access the floor where they’ve been given authority by the resident or occupant. For example, a tenant on floor two can call the lift for their visitor and will only allow them to get off at floor two. Restricting visitors’ access to only the floors they’re allowed to visit strengthens the building’s security while also helping the visitor to find the apartment or office they’re visiting.” Serving eight floors The 2216 is fully programmable via bespoke software allowing any floor to be assigned to any apartment. Additionally, the entrance panels which are allowed to call the lift can also be selected. The interface includes eight relay outputs, which can each be assigned to a floor, serving eight floors at a time. It’s possible to use multiple 2216 modules for a maximum of 128 floors For buildings with more than eight floors, it’s possible to use multiple 2216 modules for a maximum of 128 floors. Neil continued: “Once set up, the module is controlled via the lock button on the intercom telephone within the apartment. When the occupant grants access to the visitor by pressing the lock button on their telephone or videophone, as well as opening the door to allow them into the building, the lift will also be called automatically.” Third party technology The 2216 can be used on new or existing installations and is powered from a 12VDC power source. Additional features include a lift override feature to either disable all lift calls or enable calls to all floors and both USB & RS485 connection for programming via the Videx VX2200 PC software. The 2216 accessory is also ready for the new Videx IP system where it can be used as either a lift interface or additional relays controlled by apartments for features such as turning on lights and activating third party technology and integrated appliances.
NiskhamSWAT, a charity that provides hot meals and everyday essentials to homeless people in the UK, has partnered with Videx Security, to overcome their access control and entry challenges. The charity, which was established in 2009 in West London, now serves disadvantaged communities in Oxford, Reading, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Slough, Windsor and Lancashire as well as London. It’s run by volunteers and the charity currently has 1,300 volunteers across the country, serving those who need it the most. Need of a convenient access control solution We needed a more flexible and convenient access control solution that still provided a high level of security too"Randeep S. Lall, Global Operations Director at the charity, said: “We provide 3,000 meals per week to those in need which means our main warehouse in London is extremely busy 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Security and appropriate access and entry are so important." “Although we have a secured electric gate that drivers have to report to in order to gain entry, it meant someone had to permanently stay at the warehouse to grant delivery and collection vans access. This wasn’t sustainable given we are a completely volunteer led organization. We needed a more flexible and convenient access control solution that still provided a high level of security too.” NiskhamSWAT, who have recently won a Queen’s Award for voluntary service, worked with leading access control and door entry distributor, ADI to overcome their entry challenges. GSM audio kit with code lock Joseph Davies at ADI explained: “We recommended a GSM access control system to NiskhamSWAT to help solve their entry issues. After researching which solution would work best, we advised that the charity used a Videx two-way GSM audio kit with code lock and proximity access control in a 4000 series style panel.” The GSM system we’ve donated to them enables people to answer calls to their front door or gate from mobile phone" Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, continued: “When ADI contacted us, we were more than happy to help provide a system that could solve NiskhamSWAT’s access problem. The GSM system we’ve donated to them enables people to answer calls to their front door or gate from their mobile phone or landline, so they never have to miss that important visitor and are made aware of who has visited even when they are not there.” Easy programming of the entrance panel For NiskhamSWAT, this means that no one is required to remain at the warehouse 24/7 to authorize access. If a van arrives for a collection or delivery and no one is there, the system will call the designated number for access and has the facility to divert to another number if the first call is not answered, with a maximum of up to four numbers per button. Programming the entrance panel can easily be carried out either by SMS or dialling into the system using a telephone without a keypad. Randeep at NiskhamSWAT added: “Huge thanks to ADI and Videx for the donation and free installation from Image Security too. It’s helped us out massively as it meant no one has to stay at the warehouse, freeing up precious volunteering time that can be put to better use elsewhere. It’s so much more convenient to receive a call when someone is asking for access. I can verify the caller and swiftly authorize or deny access.”
Videx, a manufacturer and supplier in access control and door entry kits, has added new features and functionality to its GSMPRO intercom system that provides users with much greater freedom and security. The GSMPRO, which is now expandable to an eight-door access control system, enables people to answer calls to their front door or gate from their mobile phone or landline, so they never have to miss that important visitor and are made aware of who has visited even when they are not there. The GSMPRO is now available with an integrated back lit coded keypad, with up to 400 access codes and 32 temporary codes, which can be programmed to expire after a number of hours, to meet all your access control needs. Codes can also be programmed via PC software and remotely via SMS, enabling greater flexibility. A new app is also available for both Android and iOS which simplifies the process of sending SMS messages. Optimum access control for organizations It's an eight-door access control system, with the ability to add up to seven extra keypad or proximity access entrances"Commenting on the new features, Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx UK, said: “Our new generation GSMPRO now boasts many more features which makes it an ideal access control choice for a greater range of businesses and organizations. “For example, it now has free access time bands enabling users to set up to 10 time periods where the entrance is held open, for specific hours of the day and on specific days of the week, which makes it perfect for housing associations, warehouses and offices. It’s also now an eight-door access control system, with the ability to add up to seven extra keypad or proximity access entrances. Additional entrances connect back to the GSMPRO via an RS485 bus using standard CAT5 cable.” Many of the new features have been the result of special requests from customers which have been found to be good additions to the system and have allowed the GSM range to be used on installations with complex requirements. Viewing events in real time What’s also useful is that alerts can be programmed, where an email will be sent should that alert be triggered"Neil continued: “A great new feature is that the system now carries a new remote event log that can be accessed online, allowing events to be viewed in real time, on the move via a phone, tablet/laptop. It's a great security feature because it’s where a record is kept of calls, gate/door openings and much more. “What’s also useful is that alerts can be programmed, where an email will be sent should that alert be triggered. For example, if the gate or door is opened out of normal hours – any unusual activity is flagged.” There are several new programming commands too, included to make the system very easy to set up and simple to use. For example, it is now possible to program all telephone numbers (primary and divert numbers) of an apartment in a single SMS message and program up to five dial to open numbers in a single SMS.

It has the ability to call up to 180 apartments with the facility to release the door after verifying the caller. Additional Security Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, said: “The 2270 offers residents the facility to answer calls from their VX2200 system even when they’re not at home, offering additional security to their property. The device diverts a call directly to the resident’s mobile or alternative land line, so that they’re always aware of who is visiting, even when they’re away.” A caller can ring the 2270 and if their number is stored in the dial to open list it will activate one or more of the relays" “A key feature is the facility to connect multiple entrances (up to 15) using only a single SIM card. Also featured within the device is a dial to open facility for up to 3,000 telephone numbers with 3 relay output. A caller can ring the 2270 and if their number is stored in the dial to open list it will activate one or more of the relays.” Designing Out Crime Further features include three auxiliary inputs which are fully programmable for a number of functions such as sending text messages and activating relays for different functions. The three relay outputs are also programmable for a number of functions such as remote relays for Secured by Design requirements, the official UK Police flagship initiative combining the principles of 'designing out crime' with physical security. Neil added: “Alarms triggered by an apartment can also be handled by the 2270, either by sending an SMS to a number or by activating a relay. What’s more, an event log, that can store up to 8,000 events, is maintained within the GSM module and can be integrated via the USB port and the PC software which includes many features to simplify the installation and programming process. Videx has introduced an internal video door entry panel to the access control market. The KR-AV offers individual residential apartments a door entry solution for visitors who have already gained access to the communal main building. The KR-AV enables an additional entry point outside individual apartments so residents can see the visitor on their videophone, talk to them and grant or deny access. Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, said: “The KR-AV is ideal for residential apartment blocks because it provides added security and peace of mind by enabling residents to verify that they are opening their front door to the person they have allowed initial access to the building and not someone else who may of gained access by other means. We have developed the KR-AV based on customer feedback and a demand from clients who wanted a door entry solution that could provide greater security within buildings. What’s more, the KR-AV is also useful for residents with disabilities which prevents them from being able to answer their front door in other ways.” Videx KR-AV Features The KR-AV is available as a flush mount internal video door entry panel available in white (KR-AVW) or black (KR-AVB) finishes or a surface or flush vandal resistant entry point. For use with the VX2200 system, the panels can be used either standalone or as part of a larger system where each individual apartment also needs a local entry panel next to their front door. Features include an integrated color camera and call button. The internal units also include a service button (to switch on a light or other service) and a coded keypad for resident access control.
Videx launches its new digital GSM system that can provide access control to a wide range of gated properties, office blocks, apartments and commercial buildings. The new system uses mobile technology to communicate and operate doors, automatic gates, car parks and remote site applications, making it a perfect security solution for unmanned sites and communications outside of normal business hours. It is available as part of the popular 4000 series modular door entry system, a vandal resistance surface or flush panel and can call up to 500 users, each with a divert facility of up to three additional numbers should the others be engaged or unanswered. Videx Digital GSM System Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, said: “GSM systems enable calls to be placed from an entrance point to any mobile or land line telephone. Entry can then be granted using the telephone keypad. Our new digital GSM system offers a number of advanced features and flexibility for users. For example, the large graphical display enables apartment numbers, resident names, departments and company names to be shown with an easy-to-use scroll facility to help the visitor when searching for the person they’re visiting. There is also integrated proximity access control for up to 2,000 users and a coded access facility for up to 500 users that can be used as a means of entry.” GSM systems require minimum installation and setup time, allowing them to be installed in places which would be too difficult or too expensive to hard wire. There is no need for any cabling to telephone points as the system utilizes the existing mobile network infrastructure, allowing calls to be made to anywhere in the world. Customisable LCD Display Neil added: “Systems can be installed in a very short space of time requiring only the mounting of the entrance panel, the connection to a power supply, antenna and gate or door releasing device. Our new system also comes with a customisable LCD display, back lit keypad for poor lighting conditions and an event log that can record events that can be viewed using PC software.” Programming and maintenance of the user’s details, access control codes and fobs can all be controlled via SMS text messages, via the entrance panel using the keypad and display, and via a PC using either a USB or RS485 connection. The GSM system’s flexibility allows changes to be made remotely without the need to revisit the site. Dry contact relay output, additional switched 0V output, push to exit button input, trade time clock input and auxiliary inputs are also all available.

I have always had a lot of respect for the business and the people within it having watched its transformation over the years into a leading door entry and access control manufacturer in the UK.” Billy added: “My role is heavily proactive and sales focused and I will be spending a lot of time with existing and potential clients where I will be looking to expand the current partnerships that Videx have in Scotland and Ireland and also develop new relationships. I cannot wait to get started.”
The 4000 series is an audio and video entry panel system to meet a wide range of access control needs Videx has introduced a range of rain shields for its popular 4000 series modular door entry range. Customizable for any application range The 4000 series is an audio and video entry panel system to meet a wide range of access control needs. It can be customized for any application range, from smaller installations such as residential and private housing applications, to large installations including local authority and house association properties. Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, said: “Designed to be completely compatible with the 4000 series, the rain shield shrouds offer additional environmental protection to the entry panels without affecting the aesthetic appeal.” Ensuring Good Seal They are available for both flush and surface mount entry panels in 1, 2, and 3 module frames in the same color, gun metal gray, as the 4000 series frames and back boxes. For flush boxes, they ensure a good seal between the wall and the frame which is especially useful when mounting the flush panels into uneven surfaces. Neil added: “A very popular choice of door entry system for local authority and housing associations is the Videx VR4K which the shrouds are also suitable for.”
The new Videx monitors are available for the VX2200 6 and VX2300 2 wire systems along with video kits enabling these monitors to be used in low, medium and high rise installations Videx has launched a new range of hands free low profile color video monitors that strengthens access control for residents in low, medium and high rise installations. Access Control Communication The monitors, which feature a 7-inch high resolution color LCD screen in a satin white finish, enable apartments to receive calls from one or more entrance points to the building and communicate with the caller with a color video image before allowing the caller access to the building. Neil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, said, “Video door entry is becoming an increasingly popular access control choice because it enables a resident to see and talk to a caller prior to opening the door which offers additional peace of mind and security as they have the option to deny access to a caller without having to open the door first. Our new 6700 series of hands free monitors carry a number of advanced features such as entrance recall, door release, a do not disturb function and an optional video clip record facility while maintaining ease of use and installation. Additionally there are a number of programmable features such as ring tone, privacy time and number of rings allowing each apartment to be customized to the client’s needs.” Optional Storage Features A brand new optional feature is the video memory facility which can be used with or without a Micro SD card. Without the Micro SD card installed the 6700 Series is able to store up to 100 still images of the caller while with a Micro SD card it’s possible to store up to 4096 still images or up to 512 15 second video clips of callers. The facility can be used manually where the user can press a button to either take a picture of the caller, start recording a short video clip or it can be used in an automatic mode where the picture/video clip will automatically be taken when a visitor calls - allowing the user to review any missed calls when they arrive home. The Micro SD card can also be removed allowing the images and video clips to be used in another device such as a mobile, tablet or PC. Currently the monitors are available for the VX2200 6 wire system, VX2300 2 wire system and video kits enabling these monitors to be used in one apartment systems all the way through to high rise systems with up to 1000 apartments.
The fingerprint reader can support up to 9,500 fingerprints while the proximity readers and keypad can be used for up to 15,000 users Videx, a door entry solutions provider, has enhanced its vandal-resistant door panel range by including a new range of proximity, fingerprint, and coded access readers. With the enhancements, door systems can include a sophisticated access control solution which can be managed centrally by those responsible for building management such as residential, schools, hospitals, airports, and commercial office blocks.Integrated TechnologyNeil Thomas, National Sales Manager at Videx, said: “The integration of fingerprint readers, proximity readers, and coded access allows a fully networked access control system to be integrated into the door entry intercom system. These readers offer greater flexibility enabling all three technologies to be used together if required and can be used with third party access control systems and Portal Plus.”“Adding the reader option to the door panel range provides users with a choice of access control technologies, whether that’s fingerprint access, proximity access (both Mifare and EM technologies), or coded access. It also enables integration with other access control doors which do not require intercom but need to be managed as one with the intercom system.” "The integration of fingerprint readers, proximity readers, and coded access allows a fully networked access control system to be integrated into the door entry intercom system" The readers themselves provide their own unique benefits to the door panel range. For example, there are proximity readers available for Mifare and EM technology cards and fobs, a fingerprint reader and a back lit coded access keypad. The proximity readers and fingerprint readers have a tricolour halo illumination indicating a ready state (amber), access granted (green), and access denied (red).Standard Wiegand Output The readers all have an industry standard wiegand output enabling them to be connected to the Videx Portal Plus access control system or any third-party access control systems supporting the Wiegand protocol, allowing multiple readers to be controlled and managed from a central location. The fingerprint reader can support up to 9,500 fingerprints while the proximity readers and keypad can be used for up to 15,000 users.Neil added: “When used with the Portal Plus, the system can be configured to communicate over Ethernet and/or RS485 and is managed by the Portal Plus PC management program which enables one or more PCs (either on site or remotely connected) to manage all users and entrance points effectively. Integrating these access control readers in the panels while also using access control readers from the range on other doors which may not need intercom communication allows the installer to manage all the readers centrally and eliminates the need to mount readers separately at the intercom doors.”
