ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, a provider of door opening solutions, has invested in a number of new technologies at its Lisburn manufacturing plant in Northern Ireland. Salvagnini Systems Two new Salvagnini systems are set to help enhance the site’s manufacturing capabilities, including improved lead times, increased productivity and reduced environmental impact. The investment includes the acquisition of a Salvagnini P4lean-3216 panel bender, to replace an existing older model, and a Salvagnini L1X-30 fiber laser system. The new panel bender will enable the organization’s SMARTform technology to fold doors more accurately and quickly, while its MAC 2.0 software ensures folding results remain at a consistently high standard. The software quickly helps identify any potential issues with a door during the manufacturing process. The panel bender will be able to process 90 per cent of the organization’s total door range. Fiber Laser SystemASSA ABLOY Security Doors awar Meanwhile, the new fiber laser system – due to be installed in December – offers the highest standard in industrial laser cutting, combining high speed sheet metal processing with a precise cut quality. Having been awarded the ISO 14001 accreditation for environmental management earlier this year, the new investment further contributes to this objective. Consumption of electricity and oil is reduced with the new Salvagnini systems, resulting in lower running costs too. Neil Chambers, Production Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “The new system has allowed us to streamline production by improving areas and removing some unwanted processes that were labor intensive and costly. The move reflects our commitment to improving operational efficiencies while investing in sustainable technology. In the near future, we believe these new technologies will positively impact on lead times, product design and overall product quality.”
ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, has re-engineered its standard door leaf design to enhance aesthetics, add strength to the product and reduce environmental impact. SMARTform Technology SMARTform technology enables the leaf to be formed with the same square or rebated edges found on traditional Powershield doors, while structurally benefitting from the inclusion of a full interlocking seam on all edges of the leaf. The unique SMARTform design developed by ASSA ABLOY Security Doors’ in-house engineers reduces material waste, decreases welding, eliminates unwanted dust pollution and improves the appearance of the product. SMARTform Offers Superior Product Neil Chambers, Production Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “We have recently made a significant investment in a new manufacturing process, introducing new machinery and utilising modern production methods. This has enabled our engineers to design and produce a high quality, fit for purpose product more efficiently, while reducing environmental impact. “Our new SMARTform technology ensures we remain globally competitive, supports our need for increased capacity and offers our customers a superior product.” Through reduction of waste, energy consumption and pollution, ASSA ABLOY’s new Powershield door is an example of how sustainability is embedded in the design, manufacturing and logistic elements of ASSA ABLOY Security Doors’ value chain. The new SMARTform technology is embedded in our wide range of fire, security and cleanroom doors.
