Code Blue Corporation’s No. 1 goal in the future remains the same as it was on our first day: Your safety. Founded in 1989, Code Blue is pleased to be celebrating its 30th anniversary as the manufacturer of emergency communication solutions. Code Blue was founded when the University of Illinois at Chicago selected our new signature design from several candidates for a project that involved the installation of security standards on campus. From there, the trademarked cylindrical pedestal that is now commonly known as the ‘Blue Light Emergency Phone’ was born, and it remains a security standard at thousands of education, corporate, hospital, airport and municipal locations around the world. Shifting Technological Landscape “Our goal remains the same for the future: provide increased levels of flexibility, scalability and interoperability without sacrificing the reliability and durability that is synonymous with the Code Blue brand,” CEO David Cook said. “We want to use our 30 years of experience to help locations continue to enjoy the value of safety and security.” Over the years, Code Blue has greatly expanded its product line to adapt to the shifting technological landscape. That includes embracing the popularity of IP technology, which can be seen in Centry, our newest Help Point that integrates an IP colour camera into the faceplate. It’s the latest in a long line of moves designed to strengthen Code Blue’s position in the security industry and advance with the ever-changing needs of its customers. In 1997, for example, Code Blue developed its first hands-free analog emergency speakerphone, and in 2010 launched its IP speakerphone line. The ToolVox Media Gateway made its debut in 2009, while Blue Alert MNS (Mass Notification System) was released in 2013.
Code Blue Corporation, the industry pioneering manufacturer of emergency communication solutions, has named John Plooster its Director of Enterprise Solutions. Emergency Communication Networks Plooster will be responsible for leading Code Blue’s new Enterprise Solutions department, which will work with security integrators and information technology teams to design, implement and support sophisticated emergency communication networks. This includes combining Code Blue platforms like EmerComm and ToolVox with third party products to create an overall solution that addresses the technology challenges currently facing security integrators. On an interim basis he will continue to manage Code Blue’s central sales territory, in addition to the Strategic Partner Program, which focuses on business development and growing the company’s relationships with sales and technology partners. Strategic Partner Program Prior to joining Code Blue in 2012, Plooster excelled as a sales engineer and manager in the telecommunications industry for more than 15 years. His resume includes work with Windstream, Cavalier Telephone and PAETEC. “John’s extensive backgrounds in telecommunication, IT and Code Blue’s emergency communication platforms give him an upper hand in handling the complicated security projects our integrators are working on,” CEO David Cook said. “This will allow us to better serve the needs and demands of our enterprise customers.”
Code Blue Corporation, the industry pioneering manufacturer of emergency communication solutions, has promoted Katie Petre to Director of Distribution. Improving Operational Efficiency “The all-encompassing contributions and value Katie has provided to Code Blue have been evident since her first day,” CEO David Cook said. “By aligning leadership for our sales, customer service and marketing teams, we not only will be able to improve our operational efficiencies but increase the value we provide to our customers and sales partners.” A graduate of Grand Valley State University, Petre joined Code Blue in 2017 as Director of Experience. She has extensive experience in marketing, sales and customer service. Prior to Code Blue, she was a Senior Corporate Communications Specialist for Spectrum Health and an HR BPO Business Analyst for Fifth Third Bank. Her resume also includes work in retail and telecommunications.
Code Blue Corporation, the industry leading manufacturer of emergency communication solutions, is excited to announce that its SIP-based IP emergency speakerphones have been certified for the Sipelia communications management module for Security Center 5.3 from Genetec, a leading provider of unified IP security solutions. Software Integration Code Blue’s IP5000 VoIP speakerphone has been tested and certified for Genetec’s Sipelia, Version 2.0, which also supports, by design, Code Blue’s IP1500 and IP2500 small-footprint VoIP phones. It unifies Code Blue’s entire IP phone series with Omnicast, Synergis and AutoVu from Genetec. “Code Blue continues to strive to provide a versatile range of advanced applications and options,” Chief Operating Officer David Cook said. “Working with Genetec shows our commitment to providing our customers with a choice for a complete, end-to-end security solution that works best for their needs.” This integration will enable effective communication between operators and IP speakerphones deployed throughout a location in a single system. In addition to handling all incoming calls, customers will have the ability to open gates and access doors, work with CCTV systems, control lights, transfer calls to public address systems and incorporate other security devices and applications. All information also will be archived for future review. The functionality is similar to Code Blue’s proprietary event management software, Blue Alert® EMS. “By unifying the SIP-based communications capabilities of Sipelia with our flagship security system, Security Center, Genetec helps enterprise customers truly realize the benefits of integrated communications within their security platform,” said Jimmy Palatsoukas, Senior Manager of Product Marketing at Genetec. “By supporting the Code Blue IP5000 VoIP speakerphone system integration, Genetec is able to offer customers who are looking for a holistic approach to security this powerful communications management option, allowing them to better respond to emergency situations or threats.”
