Genetec Inc., the pioneer in enterprise physical security software, announces that independent analyst reports from Omdia and Novaira Insights have once again ranked the company as the global market pioneer in video management software. Both reports show that Genetec increased its market share in 2025, reinforcing its leadership position in this multi-billion-dollar market as organizations worldwide modernise their physical security operations. Genetec grew 20% against the 13.3% growth in the video software and VSaaS market, according to the latest Omdia research. The second and third-place vendors did not keep pace, ending the year flat or down. Video management software “Growth in this market is not evenly distributed,” said Paul Bremner, Practice Leader for Physical Security at Omdia. “Buyers are consolidating around vendors that can deliver cloud, on-premises, and hybrid from a single open platform, and those vendors are taking share from ones that cannot.” Independently conducted research by Novaira Insights also ranked Genetec number one worldwide in total video surveillance software and service agreements. The research also showed continued market share gains across regions, including the #1 spot in the Americas for the 15th consecutive year; the largest market share growth among the top 10 vendors in EMEA; and a strong top three showing in Asia Pacific. “The world's most demanding organizations are choosing Genetec as they modernise their security,” said Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec Inc. “They need a system of record built to IT standards, one that runs at enterprise scale and does not lock them in. They are choosing a platform they can build their future on, and our continued share gains show it.”
Cribl, the AI Platform for Telemetry, announces it has acquired technology assets from Radiant Security’s AI-native security operations center product including intellectual property to autonomously triage, investigate, and resolve security alerts. With this acquisition, Cribl moves further into security and is adapting this AI SOC technology to run as an application on its telemetry data platform, giving security teams peace of mind that AI is making high-quality decisions over the right data. “Too much of the $121 billion security market is trapped in data silos, giving security teams incomplete information,” said Clint Sharp, co-founder and CEO of Cribl. “We’re breaking that cycle. By pairing AI SOC technology with Cribl’s open telemetry platform, we’re ending the era of siloed solutions and giving security teams the intelligence they need, right when AI is reshaping the entire operations landscape.” Transforming incident response Cribl’s platform makes telemetry data actionable wherever it lives, fueling faster, more accurate threat investigations. AI SOC capabilities generate custom triage logic on the fly for each alert rather than relying on pre-built playbooks, and execute those investigations directly against telemetry data wherever it resides. Security teams will be able to detect threats and reduce false positives more effectively, transforming incident response into a seamless, high-fidelity operation. This is Cribl's second security technology acquisition this year, following its acquisition of CardinalOps in July. As AI reshapes security operations, capabilities that once justified being sold as standalone products increasingly make more sense running on a shared telemetry platform than as another disconnected tool that creates its own data silo. Transforming raw telemetry “Cribl’s approach centers on transforming raw telemetry into a unified foundation for AI-driven applications,” said Andrew Braunberg, Principal Analyst at Omdia. “By layering AI SOC, threat detection, and observability on top of its open data platform, Cribl is enabling organizations to customize their security stacks and finally unlock the true value of their data.” This acquisition is one piece of a broader direction for Cribl's platform, and more additions to its platform will be shared at CriblCon on September 28, 2026.
Commvault, a pioneer in unified resilience at enterprise scale, announces advancements to Cloud Rewind, expanding Microsoft Azure resource coverage for configuration protection and recovery. Through this expansion, Commvault is helping organizations more rapidly restore cloud applications and the resources that support them. Manually rebuilding environments is often slow, complex, and error-prone. According to Absolute Security's 2026 State of Enterprise Cyber Resilience report, 57% of enterprises said recovery from a cyberattack took more than 4.5 days on average. Discovering cloud resources Cloud Rewind addresses this by continuously discovering cloud resources, mapping application dependencies, and orchestrating the recovery and rebuild of cloud applications, including the infrastructure, configurations, and dependencies they need to operate, from a single platform. This expansion broadens Azure protection by 3X – now covering 62% of enterprise-relevant Azure resource types available in the market. Organizations can also validate recovery readiness through application recovery simulations, including within isolated, air-gapped environments, before an incident occurs. “In global logistics, every minute of downtime can disrupt supply chains and impact customer trust. Data is critical, but it needs the right cloud infrastructure to stay actionable,” said Venkata Sudhakar Nagandla, SVP & Global Head-IT Infrastructure & Cloud, Allcargo Group Companies. “With Cloud Rewind, we don’t just recover files — we restore our operational environment in hours, ensuring our customers experience continuity without compromise.” Multiple cloud environments Additional enhancements include: Deeper integration into Commvault backup and recovery: Protection Groups unite application data and cloud configuration into a single, air-gapped recovery experience, so teams can plan and execute recovery from one place instead of stitching together separate tools. More advanced policies for dynamic at-scale protection: Policy-based protection automatically enrols discovered resources by tag, region, and type across multiple cloud environments, using a single workflow, so teams can protect resources at cloud scale instead of onboarding them one at a time. Protected cloud resources “Modern applications depend on interconnected cloud services, infrastructure, and configurations that must be recovered together,” said Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer, Commvault. “Cloud Rewind helps organizations recover cloud applications through a unified experience in Commvault Cloud, increasing customers’ confidence in their ability to recover following a cyberattack or outage.” “Many organizations discover their recovery plan is incomplete only after an incident has occurred,” said Melinda Marks, Senior Research Director and Chief Analyst, Omdia. “As applications and their associated cloud resources become more complex, organizations need an effective way to rapidly recover, with restoration capabilities across configurations, dependencies, and multiple cloud platforms.” Cloud Rewind, available today, is delivered as an add-on workload within Commvault Cloud for cloud application protection and app-centric recovery. Expanded Azure protection is targeted for availability in the coming months. Pricing is metered based on protected cloud resources.

The 2020s will be a wireless decade in access control, says Russell Wagstaff from ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEA. He examines the trends data, and looks beyond mobile keys to brand new security roles for the smartphone. The benefits of wire-free electronic access control are well rehearsed. They are also more relevant than ever. A wireless solution gives facility managers deeper, more flexible control over who should have access, where and when, because installing, operating and integrating them is easier and less expensive than wiring more doors. Battery powered locks Many procurement teams are now aware of these cost advantages, but perhaps not their scale. Research for an ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions (AAOS) benchmarking exercise found installation stage to be the largest contributor to cost reduction. Comparing a typical installation of battery-powered Aperio locks versus wired locks at the same scale, the research projected an 80% saving in installers’ labor costs for customers who go cable-free. Battery powered locks all consume much less energy than traditional wired locks Operating costs are also lower for wireless: Battery powered locks all consume much less energy than traditional wired locks, which normally work via magnets connected permanently to electricity. Wireless locks only ‘wake up’ when presented with a credential for which they must make an access decision. AAOS estimated a 70% saving in energy use over a comparable lock’s lifetime. A recent report from IFSEC Global, AAOS and Omdia reveals the extent to which the advantages of wireless are cutting through. Responses to a large survey of security professionals — end-users, installers, integrators and consultants serving large corporations and small- to medium-sized organizations in education, healthcare, industrial, commercial, infrastructure, retail, banking and other sectors — suggest almost four locations in ten (38%) have now deployed wireless locks as a part or the whole of their access solution. The corresponding data point from AAOS’s 2014 Report was 23%. Electronic access control Electronic access control is less dependent than ever on cabling Without doubt, electronic access control is less dependent than ever on cabling: Even after a year when many investments have been deferred or curtailed, the data reveals fast-growing adoption of wireless locks, technologies and systems. Is mobile access control — based on digital credentials or ‘virtual keys’ stored on a smartphone — an ideal security technology for this wire-free future? In fact, the same report finds mobile access is growing fast right now. Among those surveyed, 26% of end-users already offer mobile compatibility; 39% plan to roll out mobile access within two years. Before the mid-2020s, around two-thirds of access systems will employ the smartphone in some way. The smartphone is also convenient for gathering system insights Driving rapid adoption What is driving such rapid adoption? The convenience benefits for everyday users are obvious — witness the mobile boom in banking and payments, travel or event ticketing, transport, food delivery and countless more areas of modern life. Access control is a natural fit. If you have your phone, you are already carrying your keys: What could be easier? IBM forecasts that 1.87 billion people globally will be mobile workers by 2022 Less often discussed are the ways mobile management makes life easier for facility and security managers, too. Among those polled for the new Wireless Access Control Report, almost half (47%) agreed that ‘Mobile was more flexible than physical credentials, and 36% believe that mobile credentials make it easier to upgrade employee access rights at any time.’ IBM forecasts that 1.87 billion people globally will be mobile workers by 2022. Workers in every impacted sector require solutions which can get the job done from anywhere: Access management via smartphone offers this. Site management device The smartphone is also convenient for gathering system insights. For example, one new reporting and analytics tool for CLIQ key-based access control systems uses an app to collect, visualise and evaluate access data. Security system data could contribute to business success. The app’s clear, visual layout helps managers to instantly spot relevant trends, anomalies or patterns. It’s simple to export, to share insights across the business. Reinvented for learning — not just as a ‘key’ or site management device — the phone will help businesses make smarter, data-informed decisions. The smartphone will also play a major role in security — and everything else — for an exciting new generation of smart buildings. These buildings will derive their intelligence from interoperability. Over 90% of the report’s survey respondents highlighted the importance of integration across building functions including access control, CCTV, alarm and visitor management systems. Genuinely seamless integration They offer greater peace of mind than proprietary solutions which ‘lock you in’ for the long term Yet in practise, stumbling blocks remain on the road to deeper, genuinely seamless integration. More than a quarter of those polled felt held back by a lack of solutions developed to open standards. ‘Open standards are key for the momentum behind the shift towards system integration,’ notes the Report. As well as being more flexible, open solutions are better futureproofed. Shared standards ensure investments can be made today with confidence that hardware and firmware may be built on seamlessly in the future. They offer greater peace of mind than proprietary solutions which ‘lock you in’ for the long term. Open solutions and mobile management are critical to achieving the goals which end-users in every vertical are chasing: scalability, flexibility, sustainability, cost-efficiency and convenience.
