Excelerate Innovates UK Security with ESA Robotics

Excelerate Technology Awarded a Co-funded ESA Contract to Deliver Advanced Robotic Security Solution for UK National Infrastructure Excelerate Technology has been awarded a co-funded contract by the European Space Agency Business Applications and Space Solutions (ESA BASS) program to build and demonstrate an innovative, automated robotic response system for perimeter security at a critical UK national infrastructure site. Critical national infrastructure Co-funded by ESA BASS and supported by the UK Space Agency, Project OVERVIEW demonstrates how space-enabled assets can directly solve safety challenges, integrating satellite communications with ground and aerial robotics to protect critical national infrastructure. When perimeter alarms trigger, the system coordinates ground robots and aerial drones to rapidly deploy and investigate incidents. Supported by Excelerate’s resilient satellite and cellular connectivity, the system ensures uninterrupted, real-time data transmission between robotic platforms and both on-site and remote security control centres, even in challenging operational environments. Deploying human responders As part of the trial, Project OVERVIEW will leverage the Nokia Drone Networks 'drone-in-a-box' system. Deployed in an automated, weather-resistant docking station, the aerial drone can launch autonomously to provide Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) surveillance. By combining Nokia’s industrial drone technology with Excelerate’s hybrid satellite and cellular connectivity, the system ensures seamless video and data streaming back to security teams even if terrestrial communications are compromised. By reaching alarm locations rapidly, the autonomous system allows security teams to identify and assess high-risk situations from a safe distance before deploying human responders. Advanced connectivity experience "As a technology developer and systems integrator, this project brings our advanced connectivity experience together with innovative robotics to solve a real-world challenge," said Bethan Evans, Chief Operating Officer at Excelerate Technology. "Critical national infrastructure is a global priority for protection. Working closely with infrastructure operators puts us in the best position to build and demonstrate impactful solutions utilising the right technology for the situation." "ESA Space Solutions are pleased to support Excelerate Technology in developing innovative applications which leverage Satellite Communication to improve safety of critical infrastructure." – Maria Zaretskaya, Space Applications Officer at European Space Agency.

UK's First SASE Platform Reaches 100 Customer Milestone

Cloud Gateway, a provider of flexible networking and security services announces that it has surpassed 100 customers and is well on its way to supporting 150 organizations with its Secure Access Secure Edge (SASE) platform. UK’s first SASE platform Cloud Gateway created the UK’s first SASE platform just over six years ago, to provide organizations with an alternative way to securely connect their clouds, data centers, sites, and users.  Since then, it has helped organizations at the heart of the private and the public sectors to resiliently transform their networks and keep pace with change. Flexible network and security solutions Cloud Gateway’s customers span financial services, government, healthcare, and bluelight services Cloud Gateway’s customers span financial services, government, healthcare, and blue light services. Its highly agile SASE platform reduces complexity, supporting the Department for Environmental Food & Rural Affairs, HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS), Avon and Somerset Police, and one of the UK’s largest insurance companies, to utilize flexible network and security solutions, without compromising performance. Reliable and stable service The company’s very first customer was the Ministry of Justice. David Fielding at HMCTS, explains, "Cloud Gateway has provided us with a very reliable and stable service." "Their pre-engagement work for additional products and services is excellent; always ensuring open discussions around our actual needs to make sure that we get the right products in place for our modernization journey."  SASE adoption strategy Cloud Gateway will provide secure access to the HSCN which enables seamless real-time data transfer between the devices The market for SASE is growing and Gartner suggests that more than 50 percent of organizations will have a SASE adoption strategy in place by 2025. More recently, Cloud Gateway partnered with Excelerate Technology which specialises in providing connectivity to emergency vehicles and mobile command centers.  Cloud Gateway will provide secure access to the Health and Social Care Network (HSCN), which enables seamless real-time data transfer between the devices on board the ambulance to the clinical leads at alternative locations. Cloud-based, blue light services Joel Johnson, Technical Manager at Excelerate Technology, explains, “We are excited to be a part of this first-of-its-kind project exploring resilient connectivity for the cloud-based, blue light services of the future." "Being on Cloud Gateway’s platform means that the foundations have been laid to enable future interoperability across blue light service." Secure, scalable connectivity We chose to partner with Cloud Gateway because of their extensive experience working with the police" "Shared goals and values are the foundation of any successful relationship. We chose to partner with Cloud Gateway because of their extensive experience working with the police and other blue light sectors." "Cloud Gateway’s reputation as a trusted HSCN network provider and their ability to rapidly deliver secure, scalable connectivity has been crucial to this project.”  Doing networks differently For Cloud Gateway, this customer milestone coincides with a period of high growth. In the last three years, the company has increased its headcount by 81 percent across its hubs in London, The North, and East Anglia, with plans to support its team to grow alongside its customer base. Justin Day, co-founder and CEO of Cloud Gateway concludes, “Cloud Gateway was launched to do networks differently and move away from the expensive lock-in contracts and poor service that is still prevalent in the telecommunications sector today." Cloud-build platform "Through secure connectivity, our approach helps organizations to build the digital foundations they need. The demand for our cloud-build platform demonstrates that customers want flexibility and choice when it comes to reaching their goals what they don’t want is to be weighed down by the technical and commercial bottlenecks that stifle transformation." "The Cloud Gateway board has made the strategic decision to invest in the blue light sector because we care passionately about making a difference by transforming citizen lives and the wider public sector for the better.”
