3DX-Ray has announced the acquisition of ClanTect, a specialist developer of human presence detection technology, marking a significant expansion of the company's security technology portfolio and creating new opportunities across global security and critical infrastructure markets. The acquisition adds a highly complementary detection capability to 3DX-Ray's established range of X-ray screening and security inspection technologies. Together, the technologies provide security operators with additional tools to detect and identify threats across a wide range of operational environments. Signal processing techniques ClanTect has developed proprietary technology capable of detecting concealed individuals hidden within vehicles, containers and other confined spaces. Using highly sensitive vibration sensors and advanced signal processing techniques, the system identifies minute human-induced movement while filtering out environmental disturbances such as wind, traffic vibration and background noise. The technology has already been deployed in border security and custodial applications and is regarded as an innovative solution for combating illegal migration, people smuggling and unauthorized access to sensitive sites. Adjacent detection technologies For 3DX-Ray, the acquisition extends its capability beyond traditional X-ray inspection and screening systems into adjacent detection technologies, broadening its offering to government agencies, security operators and infrastructure owners worldwide. The company plans to leverage its established international distribution network, which spans more than 85 countries through over 60 partners, to accelerate adoption of ClanTect's products in both established and emerging markets. 3DX-RAY is pleased to announce that its advanced AXIS CXi mailroom screening system has been selected to enhance security at an embassy in Switzerland, providing protection against postal bombs, hazardous substances, and other prohibited items delivered through the mail and parcel network. This latest deployment further demonstrates the growing international confidence in the AXIS CXi as a highly effective solution for safeguarding diplomatic missions and other high-security facilities. Providing additional support The AXIS CXi represents a significant advancement in mailroom screening technology. Its color imaging capability enables operators not only to identify the shape of concealed objects but also to assess the composition of materials. Organic materials—including explosives, narcotics, chemicals, and even benign items such as food—are highlighted in orange. Metals such as firearms, knives, and potential IED components appear in blue, while inorganic materials commonly associated with improvised explosive devices are shown in green. A greyscale mode provides additional support for precise shape recognition. Maintaining operational efficiency This multi-layered visualization allows operators, even with minimal training, to conduct more accurate, efficient, and confident assessments, helping organizations strengthen security while maintaining operational efficiency. The AXIS CXi cabinet X-ray system has been evaluated using the UK Mail Screening Test Piece (MSTP), a recognized methodology for assessing imaging performance in mail screening systems. The evaluation includes Tests 1–8, which examine factors such as resolution, penetration, and the identification of complex materials within mail items. These results provide an indication of system performance and are intended to support organizations in selecting appropriate screening capabilities as part of a broader mail security strategy aligned with the principles of PAS 97:2021.
