Commander in Chief of the Dubai Police will be the opening keynote speaker at the 1st ASIS International Middle East Security Conference
 ASIS International has announced that His Excellency Lt General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander in Chief of the Dubai Police will be the opening keynote speaker at the First ASIS International Middle East Security Conference to be held in Dubai on 6-8 December 2009.

General Tamim's distinguished 39-year career in law enforcement started after he graduated from the Royal Police College in Amman, Jordan in 1970 and joined the Dubai Police, rapidly rising to his current rank of Commander in Chief in 1980.  His inspirational and innovative leadership over the intervening years has ensured the international recognition of the Dubai Police force as the pre-eminent law enforcement agency in the Middle East and beyond.

General Tamim is a respected international speaker, published author and media contributor on issues of policing, security, social, cultural, and educational affairs. He is the recipient of numerous international awards for his contributions to policing, including several United Nations awards for his leadership work in Anti-narcotics and Combating Drugs, Combating HIV/AIDS, and Children's Rights.  He is also the recipient of the ‘Badge of Honor for National Security' from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the ‘Regional Leadership Award' from the University of Alexandria in Egypt, and the Medal of Social Defence from H.H. the ruler of Sharjah. In 2009 he received the Republic of Djibouti's highest award, the ‘Djibouti National Order of June 27th", for his contribution to the development of the Djibouti National Police, and in recognition of his major role in ensuring security in the U.A.E and the Arab World. He is also a previous recipient of the "Middle East Regional Executive CEO Personality Award", and Best GCC Managing Director in the Public Sector Award".

In addition to his role as Commander in Chief, Dubai Police, General Tamim is also Chairman of the Security & Justice Committee, Director of Security & Justice - Federal Security, Head of the Disaster & Crisis Management Team and Member of Dubai Government Executive Board.

The conference will feature more than 30 high-level educational sessions for and by international security experts and will cover the entire spectrum of security topics ranging from hotel security, organized crime, and maritime piracy to terrorism, background investigations rights, and IT Forensics.
