Welcome to the very first edition of what I hope will be a regular fortnightly column, giving me the opportunity to offer my own unique perspective on the key security issues of the day across the globe. To start things off I want to give you a flavour of what you can expect in the weeks and months ahead from ‘Words of Wiseberg’.
The security sector has to be one of the most innovative and fast moving areas in which to do business and I believe that this column should reflect the industry’s dynamism. The intention in each edition will be to deliver a topical, thought provoking, talking point, placed firmly against the backdrop of the real world challenges faced by equipment, security professionals and end users. This could be in terms of the practical steps that are being taken on the ground to deal with the threat of vandalism, criminal and terrorist attack, with pertinent examples thrown in; the benefits and pitfalls of certain technologies - whether it be CCTV or access control; how systems and people can best work together and - a subject close to my heart - the promotion of best practice through effective industry standards.
