Tamron has announced the new addition to the IR lens line-up of the 10-40mm F/1.4 IR Aspherical Vari-Focal lens. Available for both 1/3-inch CS-Mount and 1/2-inch C-Mount CCD Cameras, this release represents a response to the the need for 24-hour surveillance is , while the selection of IR-corrected lenses offered by manufacturers has been limited.
Tamron developed this new lens specifically to address the need for a telephoto range IR lens that is required as outdoor applications using IR illuminator systems become increasingly popular. This range is also particularly useful for indoor applications where close-up identification of people is necessary. The 10-40mm F/1.4 IR Vari-Focal uses state-of-the-art optical design and LD glass technology to solve the out-of-focus range between visible and near-IR light. Using Tamron’s special Multi-Coating also improves transmittance in the near-IR range and effectively eliminates flare and ghosting. High quality images are achieved by using Aspherical lens elements.
Even while covering the telephoto range up to 40mm, it provides installers with a fast maximum aperture of F/1.4 and a minimum aperture of F/360 to ensure optimum imaging performance even in broad disparities of lighting, predominantly outdoors, throughout a 24-hour period. The Tamron 10-40mm will give an excellent image quality no matter what time of day or lighting situation.
