Local authorities, housing associations and other organizations looking to meet the security requirements of the Secured By Design (SBD) scheme can now get a helping hand from Videx.  The company has just published its guide to specifying Door Entry & Access Control Systems to SBD Standards, the initiative from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) aiming to reduce crime with security products that meet police approved standards.

Videx is currently the only SBD Door Entry & Access Control member company with a number of products tested to STS202 BR2 Level of Burglary Resistance having received accreditation in October 2013.  Specifiers can therefore confidently include them within building their designs as they will help to achieve SBD building accreditation and meet planning requirements.

The Videx guide explains how Door Entry and Access Control products should be procured in line with project requirements and fully satisfy SBD requirements.  If not, there is the risk that subsequent inspections by Crime Prevention Design Advisors (CPDA) may lead to replacement equipment being required. The guide gives precise information on product feature requirements for specific sizes of dwellings.
