  • SAS Tech demonstrated TALPS system at Aisios Oionos 2025 military exercise.
  • The TALPS system boasts advanced autonomous precision-strike capabilities using UCAV SARISA II.
  • TALPS achieves battlespace integration with minimal human intervention and advanced automation.

SAS Technology played a pivotal role in the recent "Aisios Oionos 2025" military exercise held in the Alexandroupolis–Evros region by the Hellenic Armed Forces.

The highlight of the exercise was the debut of the Tactical Autonomous Laser Precision Strike (TALPS) system, showcasing a groundbreaking autonomous precision-strike capability. This system has been developed in conjunction with the ongoing operational integration of the UCAV SARISA II.

Distinguished attendees, including the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikos Dendias, Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, alongside other high-ranking officials, were briefed on how Greek defense technology enhances operational capabilities.

Advanced Autonomous Precision-Strike System

The TALPS system is an advanced precision-strike solution capable of detecting, identifying, verifying, and designating targets. It executes strikes using either a single UCAV SARISA II or a coordinated swarm of UCAVs.

Human intervention is limited to tactical and safety decisions, such as target selection and trigger activation, maintaining a "man-in-the-loop" control approach.

Optimizing with Aim-Correction Algorithm

This feature fine-tunes firing accuracy by considering environmental factors like wind and temperature

Upon positioning, TALPS initiates its aim-correction algorithm. This feature fine-tunes firing accuracy by considering environmental factors like wind and temperature, as well as the aircraft's positional dynamics.

The UCAV autonomously adjusts its heading, attitude, altitude, and launcher angle to ensure optimal firing parameters.

When ready, the system calls for target designation and proceeds with the strike upon confirmation from human operators.

Minimal Yet Fully Autonomous Configuration

TALPS operates with an efficient configuration, comprising a command and control (C2) station, an organic fixed-wing ISR/Designator UAV, and multiple UCAV SARISA II units.

It is designed to integrate external assets such as aircraft, helicopters, or ground vehicles equipped with laser-guided munitions, enabling comprehensive battlespace integration. Its open architecture and high automation levels place TALPS among the next generation of autonomous systems emerging from Greece.

SAS Technology successfully participated in the Hellenic Armed Forces exercise “Aisios Oionos 2025”, held in the wider Alexandroupolis–Evros region.

During the exercise, the company demonstrated for the first time the TALPS (Tactical Autonomous Laser Precision Strike) system — an advanced autonomous precision-strike capability developed as part of the ongoing operational employment of the UCAV SARISA II.

The event was honored by the presence of the Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikos Dendias, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis, the Chiefs of the General Staffs, and senior officers of the Hellenic Armed Forces, who were briefed on the field about the new operational capabilities enabled by Greek defiance technology.

Fully integrated tactical autonomous precision-strike system

TALPS is a fully integrated tactical autonomous precision-strike system that:

  • Detects, identifies, verifies and designates targets,
  • Performs strikes using a single UCAV SARISA II or a swarm of UCAVs,
  • Requires minimal human intervention, limited solely to tactical/safety decisions — i.e., target selection and trigger activation (man-in-the-loop).

Aim-correction algorithm

After taking position, the system activates the aim-correction algorithm, which optimizes firing accuracy based on prevailing environmental conditions (wind, temperature) as well as the aircraft’s positional and motion parameters (attitude, VelX–VelY).

Based on these computations, the UCAV performs continuous autonomous corrections to heading, attitude, altitude, and launcher angle to acquire and maintain optimal firing parameters. Once firing readiness is achieved, the system requests designation, and upon confirmation, executes the strike under man-in the-loop control.

Fully autonomous configuration

TALPS operates with a minimal yet fully autonomous configuration — a C2 station with the TALPS Platform, an organic fixed-wing ISR/Designator UAV, and two or more UCAV SARISA II.

It can also integrate external effectors (aircraft, helicopters, or ground vehicles carrying laser-guided munitions), achieving full battlespace integration. Its open architecture, adaptability, and high degree of automation place it among the most advanced next-generation autonomous systems developed in Greece.
