Tyco Security Products, part of Johnson Controls, announces that Nigel Spinks has been named Chairman of the Associate Members’ Liaison Committee for The Monitoring Association, formerly known as the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA).

Support For Continuing Education Efforts

Spinks, who is the Global Senior Director Communication Service Provider Sales at Tyco Security Products, is a long-time member of The Monitoring Association and will lead a committee that serves as the voice for manufacturers who are members of the association. He will advise the group with regards to associate member needs and concerns and will work closely witííh both the Membership Development & Retention Committee as well as the Education Committee to provide direction on educational program topics that support the continuing education efforts.

“The Association Members’ Liaison Committee is an extremely important committee because it extends the relationships of manufacturers and service providers beyond their traditional sales roles into a collaborative role on ways to improve and advance the central station monitoring industry”, said Elizabeth Welsh Lasko, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for The Monitoring Association.

Universal Billing Template Initiative

One project currently before the Association Members’ Liaison Committee is the development of a universal billing template that can be adopted by manufacturers, with a goal to make the billing process easier for central stations. Spinks will lead the further development of this initiative. The committee has also been instrumental in the development of educational sessions focused on technology advancements within the monitoring industry as part of the association’s annual meeting and its online webinar series for members.

“I look forward to working closely with The Monitoring Association, its staff and committee members as part of the Associate Members’ Liaison Committee”, said Spinks. “It’s an honor to be asked to provide the association with my input and guidance on its continuing education initiative and to ensure associate members remain actively involved to help support the growth of the monitoring industry.”

Spinks has more than 40 years of experience in the security industry —24 of those years working for Tyco Security Products. He has extensive experience in general management, manufacturing, product engineering and worldwide sales, particularly in the electronic manufacturing and telecommunication industries. Spinks is replacing Gordon Hope, formerly of Honeywell, who served as chairman of the committee for more than three years.
