Commerce Secretary Keith Burdette recently joined company officials in announcing MorphoTrak's first West Virginia facility.

"We're excited for MorphoTrak to join our biometric community," Burdette said. "This location makes a lot of sense for them because it's close to a major end-user, the FBI, and our High Tech Corridor. MorphoTrak is a major player in the biometric field, and we're thrilled to have them in West Virginia."

Biometric Solutions For Federal And Commercial Sectors

MorphoTrak, a subsidiary of Morpho (Safran), provides biometric identity and security solutions for clients in an array of sectors, including law enforcement, government services, border control, and commercial security. The company plans to establish a Program Management and Engineering office at the new facility, and recruit from the local pool of experienced and well-qualified professionals to manage and support high-technology engineering projects.

"We see many benefits from establishing our first Morpho facility in Morgantown," said Steve Vinsik, Vice President of the MorphoTrak Criminal Justice and Public Security Business Unit. "This strategic location reflects our commitment to deliver responsive and high-quality services to the FBI, our key federal end-user."

Partnerships And Advancements

The company also works with several state agencies including providing the West Virginia State Police Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). Nationwide, the company provides mission critical security solutions to more than 1,000 federal, state and local government agencies and commercial enterprises.

The Morgantown location will also allow the company to expand its work with West Virginia University's biometrics and forensics programs.

Mr. Vinsik noted, "Our new research partnership with West Virginia University will allow us to drive innovation and provide technology advancements that will benefit the entire biometric industry, and continue Morpho's position as the world leader in identification services."
