Intellian has secured a substantial contract valued at $73 million with OneWeb, a provider of low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks, to develop and supply cost-effective, compact user terminals. Designed for simplicity in installation, these state-of-the-art antennas will leverage next-generation technology to ensure high bandwidth and minimal latency for OneWeb's extensive satellite service. The service aims to reach a diverse range of sectors, including enterprises and government bodies.
Satellite Breakthrough
Eric Sung, CEO of Intellian Technologies, expressed excitement about the collaboration with OneWeb, stating, “We’re delighted to collaborate with our trusted partner OneWeb to design and produce this game-changing terminal, which is set to transform satellite communications by delivering cost-effective connectivity and enhanced user experience to multiple markets.” Sung emphasized the importance of innovation and user-friendliness in achieving Intellian's mission of a globally connected world.
OneWeb's ambitious project involves deploying a constellation of 648 LEO satellites. This network, once complete, will be capable of delivering affordable, high-speed, high bandwidth, and low latency Ku-band connectivity globally.
Space Tech Evolution
Michele Franci, Chief of System Delivery at OneWeb, highlighted the company’s objectives in the evolving space technology sector. Franci stated, “We have a clear ambition to be a leader in the transformation of Space communications technology. We are delighted to continue our work with Intellian to develop a range of User Terminals that meet the needs of our customers in many different sectors including: small, medium and large enterprises; and major vertical sectors such as Enterprise, Maritime and Governments with mission-critical applications.”
The new terminals, designed to be both cost-efficient and compact, are expected to launch later this year and will be available in 2022. These developments signify a major stride in advancing affordable satellite connectivity across various markets.
