  • FLIR debuts AI-powered M460 and M560 multi-spectral maritime camera systems optimized for marine use.
  • Advanced AI Neural Network enables automatic identification and classification of marine objects.
  • Three-axis gyro stabilization ensures precision target tracking in challenging sea conditions.

FLIR has unveiled its latest series of multi-spectral maritime camera systems, introducing the M460 and M560 models. These advanced AI-powered systems are engineered to meet the demands of professional marine applications, serving first responders, commercial vessels, and superyachts.

Unlike traditional thermal cameras, the M460 and M560 integrate a high-performance thermal sensor, a 4K low-light visible camera, a 12-kilometer ITAR-free laser rangefinder, and a long-range laser spotlight to offer comprehensive marine imaging solutions.

FLIR AI Target Tracking

Once an object is selected, the tracking feature maintains precision with dynamic pan and tilt adjustments Equipped with an onboard neural network, the new FLIR M460 and M560 cameras set a precedent with their advanced AI Target Tracking capabilities. These systems autonomously identify and classify common maritime entities such as vessels, buoys, and individuals, facilitating user interpretation.

Once an object is chosen, the sophisticated tracking feature maintains precision with dynamic pan and tilt adjustments, ensuring accuracy even in challenging sea conditions, crowded passages, or high-speed scenarios.

Three-Axis Gyro Stabilization

To ensure consistent performance, the M460 and M560 boast the industry’s inaugural three-axis gyro stabilization system. This cutting-edge technology adapts to pitch, roll, and yaw, providing distraction-free visual output and superior long-range image quality. Moreover, it enhances the precision of AI-driven target tracking, particularly in difficult maritime environments.

Elevating Maritime Situational Awareness

Grégoire Outters, General Manager of FLIR Marine, emphasized the transformative potential of the M460 and M560, stating, “With the launch of the FLIR M460 and M560, we’re setting a new standard for maritime situational awareness. By developing our own AI neural network specifically for the maritime environment and integrating it into these cameras, we’ve transformed the M460 and M560 into essential tools for tracking targets, reducing operator workload, and enabling smarter decision-making when it matters most.”

Advanced Thermal Imaging

Both cameras use CTV technology, merging color elements from the visible camera to add context to thermal images The M460 employs a high-sensitivity, long-wave infrared (IR) thermal sensor The M460 employs a high-sensitivity, long-wave infrared (IR) thermal sensor to deliver top-level image quality, enhanced by improved contrast, spatial filtering, and image sharpening. With a 5x optical zoom lens, the M460 is adept at detecting distant targets early. The M560, on the other hand, features a mid-wave IR thermal sensor with a 14x optical zoom lens, offering enhanced detection and image quality.

Both models incorporate Color Thermal Vision (CTV) technology, combining color elements from the visible camera to provide greater context to thermal scenes, aiding in the identification of navigation marks and shoreline features.

Additional Features and Exhibition

The M460 and M560 are equipped with a tightly integrated laser spotlight capable of illuminating objects up to one kilometer away, enhancing the effectiveness of the 4K camera. Buyers can opt for models with or without an ITAR-free laser rangefinder, which accurately measures target distances up to 6.5 nautical miles (12 kilometers), even in poor visibility.

These new camera systems will be showcased at the FLIR stand, numbered 08.729, during METSTRADE from November 18 to 20, 2025, at the RAI Amsterdam.
