Arecont Vision, the industry leader in IP megapixel camera technology, announced the additions of both a 10 megapixel camera and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) models to the MegaDome 2 camera series at ASIS 2012 (booth #3323). The addition of a 10 megapixel camera to the current MegaDome 2 lineup of 1.3, 1080p, 3 and 5 megapixel cameras will expand the series to meet growing customer demands for high-resolution megapixel camera solutions. Arecont Vision has also added two Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) cameras to the MegaDome 2 series at resolutions of 1080p and 3 megapixels.

The MegaDome 2 series provide remote focus, remote zoom, day/night and auto iris capabilities. The newest camera addition includes these features in a 10 megapixel (3,648 x 2,752 pixels) model that delivers video at seven frames per second (fps).

Arecont Vision’s MegaDome 2 WDR cameras provide a dynamic range of up to 100dB. Combining long and short exposures in the same video frame, the new WDR capability maximises the amount of detail in both bright and dark areas in the field-of-view. The WDR performance of the cameras represents an up to 50dB improvement (300X) in dynamic range compared to non-WDR cameras.

“Arecont Vision's 10 megapixel camera provides up to 32 times the resolution of a VGA camera. Adding our highest single-sensor camera resolution to the MegaDome 2’s remote features breaks new ground in performance and ROI,” said Raul Calderon, Senior Vice President, Arecont Vision.”Our wide dynamic range models further expands the MegaDome 2 camera series’ usefulness by enhancing image quality in environments with both extreme areas of light and dark.”

Other important features of the MegaDome 2 camera series include a dual H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10) and MJPEG dual, on-camera privacy masking and binning mode to improve low-light performance. The cameras come with domes that are IP66 environmentally rated and IK10 vandal-resistant. An easily adjustable 3-axis gimbal simplifies installation using 360-degree pan, 90-degree tilt and 360-degree z-axis adjustments. Optional features include audio and a PoE (Power over Ethernet) powered heater - eliminating the need for external power. The cameras are ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) and PSIA (Physical Security Interoperability Alliance) conformant.
