In a significant advancement for maritime automation, B&R's X20 control and I/O system now offers enhanced flexibility and ease of use due to new certifications from Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Korean Register (KR), Lloyd's Register (LR), and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
These additional certifications affirm the system's capability to withstand the demanding conditions at sea. Alongside this, B&R has also expanded the temperature and input voltage ranges of the X20 system, broadening its applications.
Certifications Enhance Reliability
Maritime environments impose rigorous demands on automation components, requiring thorough testing by certification authorities. The recent type examination certificates from DNV, KR, LR, and ABS highlight the durable nature of the X20 control and I/O system, confirming its suitability for maritime applications.
Temperature Tolerance Broadens
The X20 system now supports use in extreme temperatures, suitable for cold storage facilities and polar regions.
Specifically, the enhanced coat of X20 components allows them to operate safely even at temperatures as low as -40°C, thanks to protective coatings that guard against condensation, harmful gases, and other environmental challenges.
Expanded Voltage Range for Maritime Use
Accommodating expansive power networks, the X20 system's input voltage capacity has been improved. The updated 24 VDC power supply can handle a deviation range of -25% to +30%, translating to a voltage range of 18 to 31.2 VDC.
This enhancement facilitates the deployment of the X20 system on large ships, where extended power networks often experience voltage drops over long cable distances, eliminating the need for distributed power supplies.
