On today’s news round-up, CCTV lighting expert, Raytec has released a new video to provide a unique insight into its quality control secrets. The new video showcases a number of additional quality tests implemented for 2012 to ensure the highest levels of performance. Keeping up with rankings, Octavian Security has been ranked just one point short of the top ten percent of security providers in the UK, in the voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, carried out by the Security Industry Authority.

In application news, at the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, CEM Systems’ security management system has been chosen to secure the premises.  Lastly, a networked public address system from UK-based ASL Safety & Security has been installed at the Dungeness site, a former nuclear power station in the southeast of England now being decommissioned. Looking back at the top stories of the week so far, we begin with a news piece from ONVIF Chairman, Jonas Anderson. Since its inception, the uptake of the ONVIF standard has grown rapidly; in this article Jonas gave us the lowdown on the success and importance of the open standard. Hikvision was celebrating as it was ranked in Security 50 for the fifth consecutive year. Genetec was also a winner as it was rated the 425th fastest growing company in Deloitte’s 2010 Technology Fast 500. In events news, Dedicated Micros announced that it will be showcasing its award-winning Closed IPTV solution at a series of roadshows across the UK.

In application news, Milestone reported that its video management software solution was installed in the Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa as part of an upgrade to the hotel’s security. In Germany, utility provider Stadftwerke Parchim deployed Alvarion’s CCTV transmission system to help monitor their network of utilities substations at all times and in any weather conditions. In former cultural capital of Europe, Liverpool, Traka’s electronic access management system was chosen to manage over 200 fork trucks and other material at Jaguar Land Rover’s site. We are bursting with ISC West updates in today’s round up. We start with an application piece from Honeywell on none other than the Las Vegas strip. Honeywell gave the security industry a first-hand look at the multi-million dollar video surveillance system that is helping to secure the newest mega complex on the block. At the exhibition Axis is introducing its top-of-the-line, 5-megapixel fixed network cameras with HDTV 1080p performance.

Transmission solution provider American Fibertek is also unveiling its line of fibre optic transmission solutions designed specifically for video surveillance and security applications.
