In today’s news round-up, the Security Industry Association (SIA) has submitted important new comments to the National Institute of Standards Technology regarding the revised draft of FIPS 201-2, the standard for Personal Identity Verification (PIV). On today’s news round-up, the Security Industry Association (SIA) has been seeking nominations for judges for the 2012 SIA New Product Showcase (NPS) at ISC West, which will be held end of March in Las Vegas. Over in the UAE, Tetra World Congress 2012 has been developing and shaping its busy agenda. The theme for the 14th annual Congress is ‘Delivering Critical Communications Today And Tomorrow’ and will be taking place in Dubai at the end of May. Also in the security calendar is the Airport Security Asia 2012 show taking place on the 27th and 28th of February at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This week in security saw big corporate moves as EverFocus’s capture of a majority shareholding in SCT led to the creation of EverFocus UK, helmed by Basil Singh. Meanwhile, the latest Quarterly Research Update from the Security Industry Association revealed the true savings companies could be making in their cost-per-camera by utilising video analytics.

Britain’s premier technology programme, The Gadget Show, featured one of SALTO System’s access control solutions in a segment aimed at creating a “21^st century hotel room”, while Nedap confirmed that they would be launching their AEOS 3.0 IP video management software at the Security Essen 2010 conference.
