Larry Anderson’s latest Security Beat article focuses on the 10th anniversary of Milestone’s Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS), which took place between February 24th-25th in Las Vegas. The event saw its largest turnout, with 463 participants including manufacturers, integrators and experts from the security industry.

In corporate news, NEXT Biometrics Group ASA announced that after 3 months of integration work and preparation, its first Tier 1 Design-Win client company has decided to implement NEXT fingerprint sensors in two more of its product models. Also in biometric news, Security Systems Technology Ltd (SST) have implemented palm-vein biometric authentication by Fujitsu (PalmSecure) for Hiscox London Market, a division of the Bermuda-based insurer that underwrites international businesses via Lloyd’s of London. Finally, Avaya and Pelco will be hosting the second Smart Technology event which will take place on 12th March 2015. It will feature industry experts such as Tony Porter, Surveillance Camera Commissioner for England and Wales, who will present the latest information about integrating security and networking technologies. This year’s event will see Western Digital exhibit its WD Purple Hard Drives, specifically designed for the surveillance market.
