Looking back at the top stories of the week, we start with NICE Systems, who will be implementing its IP video security solution with video analytics at China’s Tianjin Metro to enhance the safety and security of 23 stations along its Line 2 route. Over in Nuremberg railway station, Hikvision’s megapixel vandal-resistant dome cameras have been installed to protect travellers and provide the station operators with context-sensitive information. On the other side of the world, organisers of Secutech, the international trade fair for electronic and information security, and fire and safety industries, have announced the dates for next year’s show, which will be taking place in Taiwan.

Focusing on IFSEC 2011, Dallmeier won the prestigious award for “CCTV Camera Equipment of the Year” for its new “Panomera” HD camera technology at the IFSEC Awards. Elmdene International Limited was also a winner as it received the award for “Intruder Alarm or Exterior Deterrent Product of the Year” for its graffiti detector product. Lastly, Siqura has announced that its Siqura Academy will host its first technical training on June 15th and 16th, 2011 at the Security Experience Center (SEC) in Amsterdam. Read more security news…

As preparations for IFSEC 2011 come to a crescendo, Barix announces that it will be exhibiting a number of products, which it has integrated with leading software and solutions providers in the security and surveillance market. HID Global will also be showcasing its latest advances and offerings in solutions for physical and logical access as well as secure card issuance at show. For those attending Cards Middle East 2011 in Abu Dhabi, HID Global will also be present to highlight its broad portfolio of advanced printing and encoding solutions.

In other news, Basler Vision Technologies has appointed Jalmari Vaissi as its new director of sales for IP cameras. Lastly, in application news, March Networks has announced that a large financial customer will deploy an additional 1,000 of its IP cameras, embedded video analytics and Video Management System (VMS) software across more than 120 retail branches before the end of 2011. With IFSEC 2011 just days away, we take a look at some of the highlights that will be exhibited at the show. Promise Technology will be showcasing a range of RAID storage solutions, optimised for storing huge data streams within video surveillance projects of any size. At the Wavestore stand, taking centre stage will be its open platform technology, which incorporates video analytics, motion detection and facial recognition. The new facial recognition system from Visimetrics will also be highlighted at the show. For those interested in access control solutions, SALTO will be showcasing a number of new access control products.

In other news, in the London Borough of Sutton in the UK, MOBOTIX’s high-resolution IP cameras have been deployed to help residents reduce congestion at the Kimpton Park Way Re-use and Recycling centre. Over in India, HID Global’s network access control and biometric reader solutions have been selected by the Dental Council of India (DCI) to streamline their time and attendance management system.
