On today’s weekly round-up, surveillance camera veteran Peter McKee has joined Arecont Vision as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. has appointed Johan Park as new Managing Director, thanks to his extensive experience in the understanding of the European market. McKee joins the company after a decade of success in the security industry in sales management, marketing and business development assignments. Also in corporate news, Milestone has been has been given the 2011 Innovative Achievement Award for the CCTV category for XProtect® Enterprise 8. It has also been ranked 19 in top 100 list published last month by Computerworld magazine.

In events news, Panasonic is sponsoring the Thought Leadership Program at Security Week 2011. Also, Southwest Microwave will be holding Intelligent Perimeter Solutions Seminars around the UK in November.  The seminars will give attendees the opportunity to discuss perimeter security project requirements. Read more security news…

On today’s weekly round-up, Milestone has handed out awards to its top achieving security partners at its MIPS Gala Dinner and MOBOTIX has organised a yachting trip in the Solent near Portsmouth for its top partners. Also in corporate news, Eduard J. Emde, CPP, will serve as President in 2012 of ASIS International. He will be the 57th President of ASIS and the first non-U.S. security practitioner to serve in this position.

In application news, Arecont Vision megapixel cameras are providing detailed video images and the ability to zoom in to view regions of interest, live or on recorded video, at the first electro-galvanising steel mill in Malaysia. With ASIS International 2011 entering its third and final day in Orlando, we bring you more news from the show. High Definition and megapixel video surveillance leader Avigilon has unveiled a number of new products including the powerful 29 MP HD surveillance camera at the show. VidSys, Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software leading provider, has been previewing findings from its second annual Safety and Security Survey. Also at ASIS, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is speaking about the shared responsibility in homeland security and will highlight the important role of public/private partnerships.

In corporate news, IMS research has reported that Milestone remains the global leader for open platform IP video management software for the seventh year in a row. On today’s weekly round-up, MOBOTIX has released details of a new project at Dusk Till Dawn, the UK’s largest poker club, which is using MOBOTIX High Resolution CCTV to help protect customers and staff. Also in application news, CEM Systems has announced that the CEM AC2000 system at Budapest Airport, Hungary has been successfully extended to cover the new €200 million terminal at the airport – the “Sky Court”.  The extension was installed by approved reseller, Bull Hungary. The software allows operators to create or adjust screen layouts in minutes with previews updating as they work. Looking forward to the Defence & Security Equipment International exhibition, which will take place at ExCeL London from the 13th to the 16th of September, Wavestore will display a new mobile DVR. Over in Thailand, MESSOA will be participating in Milestone’s MIPS Asia 2011, an innovative educational and networking event for the IP video surveillance and integration partners. The symposium is designed to share and exchange ideas about new business opportunities that Milestone’s Open Platform will provide and demonstrate how Milestone and MESSOA can better serve clients in the future.

In application news, the City of Plano, Texas has chosen the VidSys Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software to power the City’s new centralised security and safety platforms. Arecont Vision has announced its partnership with FST21, which enhances its megapixel camera offering with new video analytics solutions such as facial recognition, voice recognition, pattern of behaviour, license plate recognition and visitor management.
