In today’s news round-up, we start with breaking news from Canon and Milestone Systems. Canon has announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Milestone via its subsidiary Canon Europa N.V. The new combination will create a formidable player in the fast growing network video surveillance market by combining the strengths of Canon’s innovative imaging technology with Milestone’s best in class video management software expertise. In events news, storage solutions provider Seagate Technology will showcase its 7th Generation Surveillance HDD at next week’s IFSEC 2014.Visitors will also be able to see products in action with demonstration solutions from QNAP, Samsung, Synology, and Hikvision.

In corporate news, Remcam has launched a new service designed to help MOBOTIX Partners offer remotely monitored security services across the UK. The new subscription service uses RemoteGUARD software integrated seamlessly into the advanced features pioneered by the MOBOTIX decentralised CCTV systems including motion analytics, two way audio and the new ground breaking MX Activity Sensor. In application news, Wyndham Hamilton Park hotel in New Jersey has deployed Morse Watchmans KeyWatcher® key control and management system. In addition to securing keys, Wyndham Hamilton Park has customised their KeyWatcher with locker modules to hold its iPod Touch devices. Finally, Pyronix will exhibit its latest products, services and technological innovations at IFSEC 2014, with end user control being the main topic of discussion at the Pyronix stand. In today’s weekly news round-up, Seagate Technology will be showcasing its complete surveillance storage portfolio for safety, security and video analytics at this year’s IFSEC 2014, which takes place next week in London. Also at IFSEC, HID Global will showcase its portfolio of solutions to create, manage and use secure identities for a number of vertical markets.

In application news, Hangzhou city’s Safe City project has been upgraded by Dahua’s latest IP video surveillance solutions. There are 32 local police stations equipped with Dahua IP surveillance systems, collecting video from over 3,000 cameras installed at intersections, tunnels, metro entrances, school gates and other public locations. Over in Russia, Bosch fire alarm systems, public address and evacuation technology and a comprehensive video surveillance system have all been installed at the Radisson Blu Resort & Congress Centre in Sochi. Finally, Milestone Systems has announced details of its Milestone Learning Portal, an online education tool which will train and certify industry professionals on the technical and commercial details of Milestone products. In today’s news round-up, we start with a number of new IFSEC 2014 announcements. Nedap Security Management will be presenting its “social hub” at this year’s event, which takes place next week in London. Visitors are invited to discuss and find answers to their security challenges at the hub. AEOS, Nedap’s software-based security management platform, will also be on show at the event. At stand D1800, HID Global will showcase its portfolio of solutions to create, manage and use secure identities for a number of vertical markets.

Also at IFSEC, UTC Building & Industrial Systems’ Ziton ZP2 life-safety solution will be on display, with a focus on integration and mobile services. UTC will be demonstrating how products from different fields can now work together more easily, benefiting both installers and their customers. In corporate news, Milestone Systems has announced details of its Milestone Learning Portal, an online education tool which will train and certify industry professionals on the technical and commercial details of Milestone products. The portal features online training and certification programs that have been specifically tailored to meet educational needs. Finally, IHS has reported a 7% growth in the world market for video surveillance equipment in 2013. Frank has emphasised that his parting with Samsung at the end of May is “amicable” and “based on personal reasons”. In events news, HID Global will be showcasing its secure identity solutions for the first time at this year’s All-over-IP Expo 2014. Jaroslav Barton, Sales Director at HID Global, will also give a keynote on “Breakthrough Trends for Secure ID Management 2014–2015″ at the event.

In today’s news round-up, Milestone Systems has announced extended availability for the Milestone Husky Series of network video recorder appliances. These NVR appliances, pre-installed with Milestone’s XProtect® video management software (VMS), will be available in 2014 Q2 in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and in Q3 for Asia and Pacific regions. In corporate news, Roger Isler has been appointed as the new Sales Director and member of the Executive Board at SALTO Systems AG in Switzerland. In today’s news round-up, Oncam Grandeye and Sentry 360 have announced that they have settled their differences after litigating and negotiating the patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation claims alleged by Oncam Grandeye. Oncam Grandeye has agreed to dismiss the lawsuit without prejudice, and the parties will compete on the merits in benefit of the video surveillance industry. In application news, Raytec, MOBOTIX, and Farson Digital Watercams have teamed up to provide a state-of-the-art system designed to monitor river conditions in the UK, in the wake of devastating national flooding. The system has been deployed to try to minimise future damage and provide an early warning system to residents.

In events news, Arecont Vision is hosting a Customer Webinar on the 19th March. The webinar will include a presentation from Arecont Vision’s partner Digital Watchdog, and technical tips for WDR applications. In today’s weekly news round-up, SourceSecurity.com was invited to the press unveiling of Western Digital’s newest storage product for the surveillance industry, WD Purple. WD Purple hard drives are designed and tested to surveillance-class standards and are compatible with industry-leading chassis and chip-set. In events news, Delta Scientific will be showcasing its new HD300 barrier at ISC West 2014. The HD300 – available with either a fully electric or hydraulic control unit - will stop a 15,000 pound (66.7 Km) vehicle travelling 50 mph (80 kpm).

In corporate news, Milestone Systems and Latin America RepGroup have signed a sales representation agreement covering the Latin American and Caribbean territories. Over in Nigeria, TDSi will be showcasing its latest integrated solutions including its EXgarde PRO 4.2 security management software, alongside local partner Rapid Vigil Security at Securex West Africa, which takes place 18th-19th March in Nigeria.
