In today’s weekly news round-up, MOBOTIX presented its new i25 compact sized Hemispheric camera at ASIS International 2014. The wall mountable i25 captures an entire room with 180° wall-to-wall view, without any blind spots. Over at booth number 2411, Avigilon displayed its latest release of the Avigilon Control Center (ACC) software. The Control Center 5.4 software enables complete video analytics configuration and management support for Avigilon’s HD Dome and HD Bullet cameras.

Also at ASIS, DVTEL showcased its ioimage HD CF-5222 and CF-5212 cameras. The ioimage HD cameras include the benefits of DVTEL’s Quasar high-resolution, low-bandwidth and minimised and predictable storage and are optimised for outdoor and low-light conditions. Other attendees at the event included Milestone Systems, which displayed its new Husky Hybrid network video recorders. The Husky series of NVRs now offer versions with integrated encoders that make it simple to connect analogue and digital cameras, which run on IP networks, to the same box. In today’s news round-up, Security Essen 2014 marked its 40th anniversary with more than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world. For the first time, the premier global fair in Essen offered more than 40 market segments from mechanical and digital security technology via fire protection and video surveillance, right up to IT security and counter-terrorism. In today’s news round-up, we start with a number of Security Essen news announcements, with the show opening tomorrow in Germany. Milestone Systems and Zucchetti are ready to revolutionise the PSIM world (Physical Security Information Management), with the two companies presenting technology integration between XProtect, the new IP video management platform from Milestone Systems, and XAtlas access control solution, developed by Zucchetti Axess. Panasonic will use Security Essen in Germany to launch a new 360°, ultra-high 4K resolution intelligent surveillance camera.

Also at Security Essen 2014, Axis Communications will present the AXIS A1001 network door controller, a brand new product for selective admission control, specifically designed for smaller offices, industrial companies and the retail sector. Honeywell will showcase its latest fire and security solutions, with the Honeywell booth featuring new developments in fire alarm, management and notification systems, as well as access control, intruder detection, video surveillance and integrated security solutions. Finally, VIVOTEK surveillance solutions are helping to create a secure and relaxed environment for guests at the Bania Hotel in Poland. In today’s weekly news round-up, IDIS has appointed John Psyllos to the role of DirectIP Product Manager. John will work closely with IDIS technical support as well as sales and marketing to increase sales of the DirectIP™ line across Europe and the Middle East. In other corporate news, HID Global is providing students with access to its Trusted Tag Services as part of a partnership programme with Chapman University in Orange County, California. The partnership programme is aimed at challenging the students to identify key market opportunities and develop an action plan to expand the influence of HID Global’s Trusted Tag Services.

In application news, an IP video solution from Milestone Systems and Axis Communications has been deployed across the University of the West of Scotland. Boston Networks deployed the solution, which involved the integration of more than 200 new IP cameras and the consolidation of existing VMS platforms. Over in Australia, access control technology from SALTO Systems has been used to safeguard All Saints’ College in Perth. The solution includes SALTO’s standalone battery operated XS4 escutcheons, GEO electronic cylinders and XS4 locker locks. In today’s news round-up, we start with a statement from Milestone System’s President and CEO, Lars Thinggard. In his statement, Lars outlines that Milestone will continue with its open platform strategy following its acquisition by Canon. In application news, access control products and solutions from HID Global and ASSA ABLOY have been used to secure 6 of the 12 stadiums in Brazil hosting the 2014 FIFA World Cup. HID Global and ASSA ABLOY products are being used at new stadiums in Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Curitiba, and Brasilia, as well as at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

In events news, IDIS and Pro-Vision Distribution recently announced that they have signed a strategic alliance and distribution agreement during this year’s IFSEC International. Pro-Vision will provide and support the full end-to-end IDIS DirectIP suite. Also at IFSEC 2014, TDSi’s integrated security solutions attracted an increased number of visitors at its stand over previous years. In today’s news round-up, we start with a number of new IFSEC 2014 announcements. Nedap Security Management will be presenting its “social hub” at this year’s event, which takes place next week in London. Visitors are invited to discuss and find answers to their security challenges at the hub. AEOS, Nedap’s software-based security management platform, will also be on show at the event. At stand D1800, HID Global will showcase its portfolio of solutions to create, manage and use secure identities for a number of vertical markets.

Also at IFSEC, UTC Building & Industrial Systems’ Ziton ZP2 life-safety solution will be on display, with a focus on integration and mobile services. UTC will be demonstrating how products from different fields can now work together more easily, benefiting both installers and their customers. Finally, IHS has reported a 7% growth in the world market for video surveillance equipment in 2013. Frank has emphasised that his parting with Samsung at the end of May is “amicable” and “based on personal reasons”. In events news, HID Global will be showcasing its secure identity solutions for the first time at this year’s All-over-IP Expo 2014. Jaroslav Barton, Sales Director at HID Global, will also give a keynote on “Breakthrough Trends for Secure ID Management 2014–2015″ at the event.

Over at IFSEC 2014, Milestone Systems will showcase the Milestone XProtect 2014 VMS product suite for partners and customers. The XProtect 2014 product suite addresses the entire security market regardless of the size, complexity or location of the installation. In corporate news, integrated security solutions manufacturer TDSi is ensuring it meets future customer needs with the implementation of a number of new training initiatives for its employees. Members of the TDSi sales team have taken part in a Dale Carnegie course entitled “Sales Advantage”, which aims to strengthen the overall sales process. Finally, Traka and Secure Technology Solutions have entered a distribution partnership in the Netherlands.
