In today’s news round-up, Alvarion has announced that its wireless solution was deployed by NetX Internet, the primary communication and Internet access company for Marvel’s “The Avengers,” to help deliver secure and seamless wireless broadband connectivity for film production. At Singapore’s first major and biggest suburban mall, Bosch dome and PTZ cameras have been installed to offer a discreet accessible network surveillance system. In the US, Tornado chasers have chosen OnSSI’s Ocularis video management software to simplify capture of multiple high-definition video images of tornadoes and severe weather.

In other news, AMG-Panogenics megapixel cameras have been integrated with the Cathexis CatVision IP Surveillance Software Suite to offer clients a holistic surveillance solution. Lastly, Europa has further demonstrated a commitment to being recognised as a first class provider of professional security services after becoming a member of the International Professional Security Association (IPSA). On today’s news round-up, Milestone Systems’ IP video management software has been deployed at Western Kentucky University to enhance security and enable the university to expand and customise the system for growing requirements over the coming years. In New Jersey, “Buddy” Valastro, owner of the famous Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, NJ has chosen Interlogix to secure a new 60,000 sq. ft. warehouse. At the East Midlands Airport in the UK, IndigoVision’s end-to-end IP Video surveillance system has been installed to provide the airport with more detailed analysis and greater storage of video surveillance footage.

In other news, Traka has announced that it has been acquired by ASSA ABLOY. The Traka management team will continue in their current positions with full responsibility for the future growth and development of the business. On today’s round-up, in response to the growth of the homeland security market in Saudi Arabia, the city of Jeddah will host Protex Arabia 2011 - the first international trade exhibition to focus on fire safety and protection in the Kingdom. In the municipality of Egedal in Denmark, Milestone’s surveillance solution has helped to reduce the level of crime, with vandalism acts falling by 90 per cent. To save money both in terms of operations and insurance premiums, Donarbon waste management park has implemented an IP surveillance system from Axis Communications.

There is a new look for the Security Industry Associations (SIA) as it unveils its new logo. Cryptography Research, Inc. (CRI) has announced that in 2010, more than five billion security products were manufactured under license to CRI’s semiconductor security technologies.

At the top of the pile on today’s news-round up, Avigilon’s high-definition surveillance system has been chosen to protect a residential care home in Indianapolis, Indiana. In Colombia, Verint’s management software solution along with a mixture of its encoders, video analytics and IP cameras, are being implemented to secure a subsidiary of one of the largest brewing companies worldwide, Bavaria. Honeywell welcomes Franco P.L. van Heijningen as the new general manager for its Vindicator electronic security systems business.

Welcome to a new week in the security news sphere. In tradeshow news, VIVOTEK has announced that it is to unveil brand new video surveillance equipment at Security Essen 2010, and has also showcased megapixel IP cameras at Security 2010 earlier this month.

In corporate news, Concept Smoke Screen has appointed 20-year industry veteran Max Danesfeldt to its development team, while Infinova has donated megapixel cameras and a DVR to the Argentinean Youth Training Programme, as well as providing literature for the classes. Finally, intelligent IP video management software provider Aimetis has been announced as the number seven in global market share for Network Video Management Software in a report by IMS Research.
