On the mid-week round-up, Infinova has announced that it will introduce a new family of ONVIF standard IP and megapixel cameras that will help integrators more easily provide their customers with solutions at the upcoming IFSEC 2011. VideoIQ is celebrating achieving a record growth in 2010 with new HD product releases and partnership deals. We start the news round-up with a story that gripped the world: the story of the Chilean miners’ rescue. Vivotek has reported that it played a vital role in the dramatic operation as its network cameras were installed in the transport capsule which was used pull the miners to safety. At the IP Expo taking place at London’s Earls Court 2, Dedicated Micros will be speaking on IP video storage and security issues. Those interested in biometrics face recognition solutions will be able to visit the Cognitec Systems stand at the Biometrics 2010 conference.

In other news, Axis Communications released a demo showing the benefits of increased image resolution in HDTV/megapixel network cameras, while at Southend University Hospital, the largest MOBOTIX all-digital high resolution CCTV system in an NHS facility was installed. We bring you the security week that was. One of the most interesting stories this week came from Theia, who unveiled that their CCTV lenses had played an important part in this year’s FIFA world cup. We also saw the SourceSecurity.com editor’s visit to South Africa in pictures. Earlier in the week, we had news of the births of two foals captured by an innovative online surveillance system from IP eye, with the help of Axis IP cameras.

In events news, Brickcom unveiled that it will be showcasing its latest IP surveillance solutions at this year’s SecuTech Vietnam 2010. Within the corporate world, Hikvision and Italian security distributor NEXXT formed a partnership, and Access Control Technology added two Technical Support Representatives to their Technology Support team. On today’s round up we have application news galore from across the globe.

At the top of the pile, we head to Aspen/Pitkin Country Airport where Quantum Secure’s SAFE biometric solution has been chosen to enhance physical access and identity management. In Bulgaria, the Municipal Agency gets secured thanks to VIVOTEK’s surveillance solution.

We move onto Dallas Love Field Airport in Texas where Avigilon’s surveillance system has been installed. Following the success of the installation, it is now being used to help Latin American airport executives to learn about successful airport modernisation projects. In Northern Johannesburg M1011 CCTV camera allows Chefs to do what they do best – cook a scrumptious meal.

Lastly, we finish the round up in Cardiff where Romad has donated its security solution for protection of volunteers at Cancer Research UK.
