In today’s news round-up, the HDcctv Alliance is announcing a new global standard of HD analogue, HDCVI 2.0, which is based on Dahua’s HDCVI technology. The standard aims to provide a stringent level of certification among manufacturers. As the HDCVI technology inventor and patent owner, Dahua introduced the milestones of the HDCVI development. Also in corporate news, IDIS has formed a technology partnership with wireless networking solutions specialist SilverNet. The partnership has seen customers utilising SilverNet’s products to deliver wirelessly networked DirectIP™ surveillance solutions to deliver tangible cost savings.

Also announcing a new technology partnership are Videalert and Wavestore. The partnership will enhance the level of interoperability achieved between Videalert’s Intelligent Digital Video Platform and Wavestore’s video management software. In events news, SALTO is set to exhibit at Transport Security Expo in London from Tuesday 2nd December to Wednesday 3rd December 2014. In today’s news round-up, Vanderbilt Industries has entered into an agreement to acquire Siemens’ Security Products business. The business will be renamed Vanderbilt International and Joseph J. Grillo will be Managing Director, working from the new operational headquarters in Germany. In other corporate news, MasterCard and Zwipe have launched the world’s first contactless payment card featuring an integrated fingerprint sensor. The card also includes the Zwipe secure biometric authentication technology that holds the cardholder’s biometric data.

Over in the Netherlands, Nedap Identification Systems has appointed Wouter Vansteenkiste as Senior Channel Development Manager. Wouter will strengthen the team that manages Nedap’s worldwide partner channel. Also in corporate news, OnSSI has appointed Tim Brand as Regional Manager for Southeast US. Tim will be instrumental in ensuring the growth of OnSSI’s leading Ocularis platform in the region. In events news, the HDcctv Alliance will host a technology and product gallery at Security China 2014. The first certified HDcctv 2.0-compliant products will be shown by Dahua and Shany as part of the gallery. In today’s weekly news round-up, ASSA ABLOY’s 580 electric lock has been installed on doors at Stockholm’s Karolinska University Hospital, maintaining secure access protection while allowing rapid evacuation and re-entry. After a successful pilot project on 20 doors, the technology is now being implemented on 350 doors across the hospital. In application news, AxxonSoft and VisionxIP have completed the installation of a Safe City municipal video surveillance system in Rio Gallegos, Argentina. The project combines Axxon Next software with hardware from VisionxIP and is managed by a situation centre which responds quickly to events. Over in Latvia, DIGIEVER and VIVOTEK have partnered to supply the security system for a plywood factory. In addition to using it as a security tool, the factory is using the system to improve the efficiency of its manufacturing processes. Finally, Axis Communications, PROTECT and Milestone Systems have collaborated on a fog security system. The company hopes that its participation as a Steering Member will accelerate the worldwide migration to HD surveillance. In application news, ADT has supplied Leicester City Football Club’s stadium with an IP CCTV security system to replace the stadium’s previous analogue security system. The entire installation took 6 weeks and included replacing some of the existing coaxial cable runs to Ethernet to allow the use of HD CCTV.

In corporate news, Octavian Security has been shortlisted as a finalist for the “Customer Care Initiative of the Year” award at the 2013 Security Excellence Awards. The company was chosen due to its commitment to improvement, innovation and client satisfaction. In other corporate news, Skills for Security has announced the appointment of Terri Jones as its new Director General. The company is confident that Terri will provide it with strategic direction, focusing on new business generation while assuming responsibility for its financial and commercial performance. Finally, Elbit Systems announced recently that its Australian subsidiary has been awarded a $32 million (USD) contract by the Australian Federal Police.
