In today’s weekly news round-up, Vanderbilt Industries recently announced that it will focus its market identity on the Vanderbilt name brand. Following Vanderbilt Industries’ announcement of the pending acquisition of Siemens’ Security Products, the new entity, renamed Vanderbilt International GmbH, will begin to utilise the Vanderbilt name, creating a common company brand identity for both the North American and European business units. Also in corporate news, Schneider Electric has partnered with ASSA ABLOY Access Control UK to enhance its Continuum building management system. ASSA ABLOY’s latest Aperio® wireless cylinders, PINpad escutcheon and L100 have been integrated into the Schneider Electric access control product line.

In application news, Traka has installed a smart access management system at one of the UK’s leading rail companies, Southeastern. Traka developed a bespoke access management system in which keys are permanently attached to an iFob, which locks into an automated key dispensing machine. Also in the UK, IDIS has announced the appointment of Billy Hopkins to the role of Regional Sales Manager. Billy will manage distribution sales in South East England to meet increased demand for next generation DirectIP™ high-definition (HD) surveillance solutions. In today’s news round-up, Traka has installed a smart access management system at one of the UK’s leading rail companies, Southeastern. Traka developed a bespoke access management system in which keys are permanently attached to an iFob, which locks into an automated key dispensing machine. In corporate news, Genetec recently announced a new partnership with automated payment systems manufacturer VenTek. Together, Genetec and VenTek now offer seamless integration between the VenTek Pay-by-License (PBL) solution and Genetec AutoVu, the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

In today’s news round-up, with Conference season upon us, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has been busy championing the views of the private security industry; planning and attending meetings with MPs, Ministers, Peers, PCCs and think tanks at the Labour and Conservative party conferences. With Security Essen now over, the next security tradeshow is just about to begin: ASIS International kicks off today in Atlanta, Georgia. In today’s news round-up, IDIS has appointed John Psyllos to the role of DirectIP Product Manager. John will work closely with IDIS technical support as well as sales and marketing to increase sales of the DirectIP™ line across Europe and the Middle East. In application news, North Bend Central School District (NBCPS) has chosen and installed the Genetec Security Center to better protect its elementary and junior high school students. NBCPS is using Security Center to manage a total of 36 network cameras from Axis Communications and 15 HID Global door readers and controllers.

Over in Malaysia, TDSi will be giving visitors a preview of its new range of access control readers at IFSEC Southeast Asia, which is being held from 3rd-5th September in Kuala Lumpur. In today’s news round-up, Genetec has announced it will be showcasing its Security Center, Omnicast, Synergis and AutoVu products at ASIS 2014. Visitors to the Genetec booth will be able to see the integration of Security Center with select camera and hardware partners. In application news, Winsted Corporation has completed a modular console, which will be used to aid research and development of nuclear control room technology. Winsted teamed up with the Center of Safe and Secure Nuclear Energy (CSSNE) on the project. Also in application news, Infragreen A/S has selected Opengear technology to streamline its site deployment processes and troubleshooting. Infragreen plans to establish three strategically centred data campus sites close to Oslo.

In corporate news, Genetec now has exclusive rights to resell BCDVideo servers and storage equipment as part of a new strategic partnership between the two companies.  Through this agreement, Genetec channel partners and integrators now have access to all BCDVideo Nova Series servers and storage arrays, which come pre-loaded with Genetec’s industry leading Security Center software. Finally, Matrix Comsec will exhibit products including its ETERNITY LE police communications system at the International Police Expo in New Delhi later this month. Other products on display will include new door controllers and the SATATYA NVR400 IP based surveillance solution. Read more security news…
