On today’s news round-up, Genetec has announced that the American Institute of Business (AIB) in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, has installed the state-of-the-art and cost-effective Omnicast video surveillance system to secure the 20-acre campus. Over in Europe, CEM Systems has announced that the CEM AC2000 system at Budapest Airport, Hungary, has been successfully extended to cover the new €200 million terminal at the airport – the “Sky Court”.  The extension was installed by approved reseller, Bull Hungary.

This week in security saw big corporate moves as EverFocus’s capture of a majority shareholding in SCT led to the creation of EverFocus UK, helmed by Basil Singh. Meanwhile, the latest Quarterly Research Update from the Security Industry Association revealed the true savings companies could be making in their cost-per-camera by utilising video analytics.

Britain’s premier technology programme, The Gadget Show, featured one of SALTO System’s access control solutions in a segment aimed at creating a “21st century hotel room”, while Nedap confirmed that they would be launching their AEOS 3.0 IP video management software at the Security Essen 2010 conference.
